THE BILLIONAIRE IS INFATUATED WITH HIS EX-LOVER -
Chapter 31: Jee was “jealous”
"Jee, today we have many scenes to shoot. Try to complete all the indoor scenes because tomorrow, we will move to outdoor locations," the director reminded her. "How long will the outdoor shoot take? I need to prepare accordingly," Jee politely inquired.
"About two weeks. The subsequent scenes are all scheduled, so we must work diligently to keep up with the timeline. The tight schedule may be uncomfortable for everyone, but the production company is pushing us, and we have no choice. I hope you understand and will cooperate with the crew."
"Don't worry, Director, I will manage," she reassured him.
The director smiled and then walked away. Jee understood that the life of an actor was demanding, but being a celebrity took work. Initially, she had refused to join this film, but since the shooting started, her recognition had increased, somewhat compensating her for her efforts.
Today, she filmed a heartbreaking scene where she bids farewell to her boyfriend due to overwhelming family pressure. As they held hands and shared words of parting in regret, suddenly, a furious girl rushed forward, pushing her to the ground and spitting venom.
"Who gave you the right to seduce my boyfriend? I know you grew up without a mother, but that doesn't give you the right to steal someone else's man. It's true what they say: children always need parents to teach them; the undisciplined ones are nothing but a menace to society."
Her boyfriend tried to intervene, but the girl lunged forward, grabbing Jee by the collar and berating her nonstop.
"Feeling wronged, are we? Or is it that I'm not speaking the truth? A spoiled girl like you doesn't deserve to be loved." She yanked Jee's hair, causing her to scream in pain. The onlookers, initially focused, now turned towards the angry outburst.
"Cut!"
The director turned around in shock, his face pale, stuttering.
"What... what's going on here?"
Leon said nothing as he stepped forward and drew Jee into his arms, draping his jacket over her. Seeing her disheveled hair from the altercation and her eyes brimming with tears, Leon felt a surge of protectiveness, wanting to be the hero for the damsel in distress.
Leon looked at Liz and then furiously at the director.
"Is this what you consider a masterpiece of art: beating someone mercilessly?"
"It's because Liz got too caught up in her role. Moreover, Jee has always been willing to sacrifice for her part, so..."
"From now on, scenes like this must not happen again," Leon coldly told the entire film crew. The director responded with a quick succession of "yes, yes."
After Leon and Jee had left, the director turned to Liz with a furious gaze.
"Come here; I need to speak with you."
Before Liz could even sit down, he snapped at her.
"You've ruined everything. In the script, you're supposed to be the girlfriend hired by the lead male to make the heroine mistakenly agree to break up. You were only supposed to deliver two lines as written, not overact and cause me issues with the producers. Now, both of our careers in this industry might be jeopardized."
"I just wanted to add creativity to make the role fresher and add more drama to the film," Liz pouted, believing she had good intentions.
"Do you think I don't know? You did it out of jealousy towards her, intentionally trying to embarrass her in front of everyone. I should never have given you this role in the first place."
"Oh, come on, don't be angry anymore, come here and I'll make it up to you." Liz shamelessly pulled her top down slightly to expose her seductive collarbone, cooing softly to the older director.
He was like a cat that saw cream, unable to stay angry, his eyes gleaming, his wayward hands gently stroking from her slender waist down to her shapely hips.
"I'm sorry, it's just that I was angry at that detestable Leon. You know I always favor you."
"I'm also to blame for neglecting you lately."
Their giggling and flirtation were utterly repulsive, as the mismatched pair teased each other even in their workplace, unafraid of societal scorn.
After Jee refuses to take her home, Leon unhappily gets into his car and drives off.
Leon was very private about his personal life; he didn't use social media, so little was known about him. He was known only as owning a top cosmetics company, both domestically and internationally. Many major news outlets had sought exclusive interviews with him, but all were uncompromisingly declined.
Since meeting Jee, Leon had his assistant, Mark, create a social media account for him to promote his company's brand, but in reality, it was to keep tabs on her.
Leon opened Facebook and was surprised to see a post about him: "Billionaire Leon attentively caring for his girlfriend on set." He clicked his tongue, "These journalists are quick."
At the same time, Jee also received news from the director that keywords related to her were trending on several major websites, which delighted him. Numerous advertising agencies had contacted her to become their brand ambassador. The director informed her that she must stay healthy as her schedule would soon become very busy.
Suddenly, a message popped up.
"Happy birthday, my love. May you stay beautiful and happy daily. Love you lots."
Jee leaned back in her chair, spinning around, realizing that the "birthday gift" Thiên Kim mentioned was the beating she endured that morning. Ironically, it was Liz who ended up worse off. Jee had long stopped remembering her birthday due to her hectic schedule. Each year, it was the same friend who celebrated and supported her.
She clicked on the comments section of the post. Thirty minutes after being published, hundreds of comments had poured in, most criticizing her looks and talent as unworthy of her boyfriend. In contrast, others thought she landed the lead role in a significant project only because of her boyfriend's support.
"Jee is lucky to have caught a billionaire's eye; otherwise, she'd remain a nameless actress."
"Teach me how to snag a billionaire boyfriend."
"You're lucky; having such a supportive boyfriend will surely make your film a hit."
"She must have cultivated good karma for three lifetimes to meet Leon."
Jee set her phone down on the table, pondering why everyone thought she was chasing him and not that he was imposing himself on her. Why did public opinion always favor him, assuming she was after money and fame, clinging to a billionaire? She, too, was a person of worth, not just an attachment or an accessory to him.
