THE BILLIONAIRE IS INFATUATED WITH HIS EX-LOVER
Chapter 32: Jee attended the film festival

Jee returned home late every night, her rest delayed by nighttime shoots that stretched into the early hours tomorrow. Today's filming had drained her emotionally, dredging up painful memories of her past. The more she immersed herself in the role, the more her dreams became haunted by her character's actions, as real as life itself. Startled awake, she realized it was all just a dream.

Turning on the light, Jee took off her shoes and placed them on the rack when she heard Jessica's voice.

"Sara, I've heard about what happened between you and Leon. Is it true?"

"It's not right. The person the news mentioned is Jee, not Sara."

Jessica was surprised, not fully grasping what her close friend had just revealed.

Sara slowly sat down, her lips taut, a mischievous smile hinting at her concealed intent.

"I will use the persona of actress Jee to trap him, meticulously plotting revenge until he loses everything, reclaiming justice for Sara and her father. Sooner or later, he will fall into my trap."

Now Jessica understood. Despite Sara's outward strength, her heart was still aching from the past, her feelings for Leon were nothing like they initially were, and her hatred was now a hundred times stronger than her love.

Sara gazed at the balcony, watching the sparse lights of passing cars in the distance. She closed her eyes, suppressing her bitterness.

"Once a woman rejects a man, he will pursue her madly. My intense determination will make Leon even more attracted to me. I will strike back when the time is ripe, and he won't know what hit him."

"But what if he ruthlessly denies you the chance? Then, you will be the one who suffers. Stop this, Sara, I'm begging you."

Di Di held her hands, her eyes pleading, but Sara could not rest until her vengeance was complete.

"Don't you understand how my father died in agony? He had to watch the life's work he built to be destroyed by others. Leon must suffer the same fate."

"What do you plan to do next?"

"To conquer a man, one must wield a weapon only a woman possesses."

Jessica realized that Sara had changed; she was no longer the naive, stubborn girl she used to be but had become calculating and adept at setting traps. Jessica was deeply worried.

Hatred is like a drug; it cruelly changes a person.

"But I'm apprehensive about you. Even if you trap him now, will you truly be happy if he loses everything?"

Sara turned to Jessica, her gaze cold and indifferent.

"Yes, I will be happy. His failure and pain are my joy."

Jessica fell silent; it was too late to stop Sara, but her worry was profound. She had seen Sara suffer more than she could count because of that man. Jessica wanted to ask Sara when she might come to visit, but seeing the exhaustion etched on her face and the sorrow in her eyes, she silently walked away.

Sara lay back on the couch, her arms limp, utterly exhausted. She played two roles and sometimes didn't know if she was Sara or Jee anymore.

Jee stood out in her teal mermaid dress, touching up her makeup before facing the media, the press, and thousands of fans. She wanted to look her best-flawless and captivating. Ever since she had embarked on her professional acting career, she understood the crucial role appearance played and never allowed for any neglect.

Suddenly, her phone lit up. It was the director calling.

Jee answered, but the director started his familiar daily lecture before she could speak.

"This film festival is crucial for you. It's a learning opportunity to polish your reputation and catch public attention. Many business people, politicians, screenwriters, directors, and major producers are here. If you catch their eye, your career could skyrocket. Soon, your face will be everywhere, at home and abroad..."

"Didn't you tell me once I had Leon, I wouldn't have to worry anymore?"

"You..."

He was angry that Jee contradicted him, but she was his golden goose then, so he had to be patient.

"Even so, a good opportunity should not be missed."

"I understand, don't worry."

Jee abruptly ended the call without waiting for a goodbye. She entered the car, where her assistant and bodyguards were waiting. Soon, the car stopped in front of the grand hotel hosting the film festival. She saw many reporters and media personnel waiting for a while through the glass. The director had said she was the only company delegate, yet Liz was striking poses for the media and fans. Seeing her rival's affected demeanor, Jee couldn't help but smirk.

The driver opened the door for Jee to step out, and the moment she appeared, she captured all eyes around her. She shone like the brightest star in a sky filled with luminaries.

Her dress, an embroidered lace design from a top domestic fashion house, made her look like a princess stepping out of a fairy tale. Her snow-white skin and slender figure made every step and turn seem like a work of art. Other artists gradually receded, giving her the stage to shine. Liz's eyes threw sparks of envy at Jee as if wishing to ignite her.

Many beautiful photographs were born in this moment. Suddenly, a reporter approached for an interview.

"Ms. Jee, did you come alone today? Isn't your boyfriend accompanying you?"

Another quickly interjected.

"I heard you're just using the company boss at LT to gain fame. Have you achieved your goal yet, and do you feel happy about that?"

While engaging with fans, the smile on her lips momentarily faltered at the tactless questions. But then, with the poise of a woman who had weathered many storms, she confidently smiled and responded candidly. "Happiness begins with being voluntary, and I am indeed happy."

The room fell silent, then burst into applause from behind. Everyone turned around as Leon stepped forward, taking Jee's delicate hand and gently kissing it, his smile affectionate. "She is happy, and so am I."

The applause and cheers of well-wishes resounded vibrantly. A few envious glances hurriedly left; thus, they were the happiest couple of the night.

Throughout the festival, Leon held Jee's hand tightly as if afraid that letting go would mean losing her. Unable to bear it, Jee pulled him aside to a secluded corner to confront him. "I already told you I have no interest in you, so please stop following me."

Leon laughed, his eyes unable to hide his special affection.

"You say that, but your actions suggest otherwise. Why did you answer so ambiguously earlier, as if we were lovers in the happiness of passion?" Leon delicately lifted her slender chin with his finger.

"You are intriguing."

Jee angrily swatted his hand away, her voice firm as she emphasized again.

"That was just the circumstance, don't misunderstand."

Leon's hand slipped behind her, gently pulling her soft waist, suddenly causing her body to fall into his embrace.

"Don't worry about me misunderstanding; worry about how you'll explain if the public misunderstands. Don't forget to watch the news tomorrow morning."

Before leaving, Leon gave her a look full of affection, caught willingly in this web of love, so even if it brought suffering, he couldn't blame anyone else.

Jee suddenly realized she might face public outrage for today's events. But whether for better or worse, this would only make her more famous, precisely what her boss needed.
