The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart (Brittany and Isaac) -
Chapter 611
Chapter 611
When Tanya saw that Brittany was upset, she didn't pry any further. She just stayed by her side.
Brittany cried for a long time until it was late. She wiped her tears and said to Tanya, "Tanya, I'm sorry. I've disturbed your rest."
Tanya shook her head and said, "Don't say that. I watched you grow up. You and Hannah are both like my daughters. If anything's bothering you, you can always tell me." Brittany had a lot to say but couldn't get the words out.
Tanya knew her well and didn't force her to talk. She comforted Brittany and started chatting about her own health. It wasn't until Lionel came to deliver food that Brittany got up. "Lionel." Brittany called out.
Lionel put down the meal box, looked at Brittany, and noticed her red-rimmed eyes. He frowned, "Why have you been crying?"
"It's nothing, just a bit upset." Brittany replied.
Lionel figured it probably had something to do with William, so he didn't ask further.
He opened the meal box, took out a small table, prepared meal utensils for Tanya, then glanced at Brittany and said, "Hannah is here too. Let's have dinner together tonight." Brittany had been back home for a while but had rarely seen Lionel. She agreed.
They left the hospital together for a nearby restaurant.
Lionel, as always, didn't talk much. Most of the conversation at the table was carried by Hannah.
Halfway through, Hannah went to the restroom.
Lionel poured Brittany a glass of water, "Did you and William break up?"
"Yes, because I embarrassed the Dillion family. We can't continue." Brittany replied.
"Did you figure out what happened at the wedding?" Lionel asked.
Brittany shook her head, "Not yet."
"If you need help, let me know."
Lionel's manner was as aloof as always, but Brittany knew that that was just his personality. She picked up her glass and said, "Lione!, I've made up my mind. Once I get custody of my child, I'm going back to Craneville. I probably won't come back here." She had lost too much there. She didn't want to return; she wanted to go back to Craneville and start over.
"Child?" Lionel was obviously not aware of that.
"The child didn't die. Isaac saved him." Brittany briefly explained, "I had a paternity test done; it's confirmed that he's my child."
Lionel took a deep breath, "All these years, I knew Isaac had a son. But I didn't realize that it was that child."
"Is the Salter family willing to give you the child?" Lionel asked.
Brittany shook her head and replied, "Not yet."
"What's your plan if they don't agree to give you the child?" Lionel asked.
"I'm not sure yet."
"If you could get custody, that would be the best. But if you can't, you'll have to co-parent. But in that case, you won't be able to leave Imperial City." Lionel said.
Clearly, Isaac revealing the existence of the child was his attempt to control Brittany.
Brittany felt even more upset hearing Lionel's words. She didn't even have an appetite to eat.
"But it's not impossible to get custody."
Brittany's eyes lit up with hope and she asked, "Lionel, do you have a solution?"
"Five years ago, even if you and Isaac didn't officially marry, it could be considered a de facto marriage. If you can prove that he's not responsible or capable of taking care of the child, you could possibly get custody." He continued, "Or the Salter family might not want to accept the child."
Hearing Lionel's words, Brittany fell into deep thought. The Salter family obviously wouldn't let go easily, let alone let Brittany take Daniel.
After they had their fill, Lionel drove Brittany back to the hospital. Before leaving, Lionel took out a wedding invitation from his drawer,
"I'm getting married. Remember to come."
"When did this happen?"
Brittany was shocked. She had been back for a while but had never heard about Lionel having a fiancée.
Lionel looked at her surprise, not seeing any regret or disappointment that he hoped to see. A chill ran through him.
Brittany truly only regarded him as a friend.
Realizing that, he chuckled, "I just decided recently. Her family is in real estate. We get along well. After our marriage, we'll be developing several projects together. It's kind of a merger of two families.
