Despite her steadfast refusal, Keegan left his contact information before departing, saying, "Ms. Lynette, if you ever change your mind, feel free to reach out to me." Brittany saw Keegan off and tucked away his business card.
Aside from the chess federation folks, numerous websites and TV stations were clamoring for an interview with Brittany.
Brittany, overwhelmed and annoyed, turned them all down.
Her personal phone number was somehow leaked, leading to a barrage of calls from obsessive chess fans, much like the federation people, all hoping she would pursue a professional career. After her refusal, they seemed to lose their minds, accusing Brittany of having no sense of collective honor, wasting her talent, and betraying the nurturing Craneville had given her! They criticized her for being money-minded, materialistic, and blinded by vanity!
Some even branded her a traitor to Craneville!
Fed up, Brittany simply turned off her phone, opting to spend her days at home, tending to her garden and resting for a week.
That week, public opinion outside was in turmoil.
Many in Craneville, united in their stance, demanded that Brittany serve Craneville by embarking on a professional path.
They even formed a group dedicated to urging Brittany to become a professional chess player, causing quite a stir online.
The Queen, upon seeing the uproar, frowned, "Are these reactions all spontaneous?"
"Partially."
Understanding the principle that excess can lead to downfall, the Queen ordered, "Let's tone down this fervor, we can't let it backfire on her." "Understood."
With the royal family's intervention, the frenzy died down, allowing Brittany some respite.
As the public discourse began to settle, it was time for Brittany's scheduled health check-up.
She visited a private hospital owned by the Lynette Conglomerate, which operated under the Lynette family's directives.
Accompanied by Eltham, Brittany underwent a comprehensive health examination.
She had a stomach condition.
Her body was lean.
An old issue, really.
When the results came in, Eltham, visibly concerned, said, "Your stomach condition is serious. You need to start treatment immediately." Brittany was prepared for this news.
"I've been seeing a naturopath, who's been helping me manage it," said Brittany, reviewing her results. "I should recover in some time."
Although Eltham had his reservations about alternative medicine, knowing Brittany grew up in Country A, he didn't voice his skepticism about its effectiveness.
"Alright, but if we don't see any significant improvement, we may need to consider other treatments."
After carefully consulting with the doctor to ensure there were no other issues with Brittany's health, Eltham finally left the hospital at ease.
Before parting, Brittany excused herself.
"I have plans with a friend this afternoon. I'll head off first."
"That's fine. I have a gathering tonight and won't be able to join you," Eltham shared his plans.
Brittany couldn't have been happier for the solitude.
Once Eltham was gone, Brittany made her way back to the hospital, this time heading for the maternity ward.
The obstetrician was someone she trusted.
Upon her arrival, the doctor quickly approached, "Ms. Lynette."
"How's everything?"
"Based on the current results, the baby is healthy," the doctor handed over the ultrasound results to Brittany. "Developing well."
Brittany sighed in relief, took a picture of the photo, and then burned the results. "This must remain confidential."
"Understood."
Brittany didn't return to the Lynette family residence but instead went to Isaac's villa.
Having previously recorded her fingerprint for the lock, she easily entered the villa.
With no housekeeper present, Brittany enjoyed the quiet, replaceing some snacks and a blanket to wrap herself in. She settled on the couch, waiting for Isaac to return.
