Chapter 863

"Do you have any proof?" Brittany's face was a storm cloud of fury, her icy gaze enough to send shivers down anyone's spine.

"She told me herself; I have the text messages." As if to validate her claim, the woman whipped out her phone, scrolling feverishly to reveal the damning evidence. "Ms. Dustin, please, have a look." Brittany barely glanced at the screen before she had to look away.

The brazen, boastful tone of the messages, the way Joie bragged about nearly snuffing out a young life!

"Ms. Dustin, those words came straight from her. I swear I'm not making this up." The woman was desperate to distance herself from the mess.

Joie had once been the belle of Imperial City, basking in the glow of the Salter family's favor. Who could have imagined she'd fall from grace? She had only wanted to spectate the drama, little did she know she'd run into Brittany here and get caught red-handed!

"What else has she done?"

"That's all I know."

"Give me the phone." Brittany slid a check across the table. "If I replace out you've been feeding me lies, I will make you regret the day you were born!" Taking the phone, Brittany stormed off.

Charles emerged from the dance floor, a stunning beauty on his arm, her red lips intoxicating. "You're back."

Charles planted a kiss on the woman's cheek, whispering something that flushed her ears scarlet. After a brief greeting to Brittany, she took her leave. "Did I interrupt something?" Brittany realized her timing might have been off.

"Not at all, you're more important." Charles noticed Brittany's distressed look. "Don't like it here? I'll take you back to the hotel."

Handing over the phone, Brittany asked, "Can you tell if these messages are fake?"

A quick glance and Charles confirmed, "They're authentic."

Brittany felt a weight sink in her heart.

"That Joie, she's got some nerve, messing with Daniel." Charles licked his lips. "She's been bullying you. You gonna let that slide?"

Brittany clutched the phone. Joie had always been beneath her notice, but now she'd crossed the line, again and again! "TII handle this."

Back at the hotel, Brittany took a long hot shower and called Daniel.

Seeing her son's face on the screen, a surge of fury washed over her. She could almost taste the vengeance.

"Mommy, are you still mad at Daddy?" Daniel was perceptive, noticing Brittany's troubled

state.

"Is Daddy home?"

"Yeah."

With the eagerness of a child, Daniel scampered off the bed, racing to the study, and handed the phone to Isaac. "Daddy, Mommy's calling."

Isaac, buried in work, looked up and gently lifted Daniel into his arms, taking the phone. "All-done for the day? Tired?"

"I'm okay." Brittany leaned against the headboard. "Let Daniel leave the room. I need to speak with you alone."

Sensing something was amiss, Isaac set Daniel down. "Go to your room."

"Mommy, I miss you." Daniel smothered the phone with kisses.

Brittany tenderly touched the screen. "Be good, rest up; I'll be home soon."

Once Daniel left, the room was submerged in silence.

"What's the matter?" Isaac braced himself for bad news.

"I want you to hand Joie over to me." Brittany laid out her demand, "If you refuse, I'll have to take matters into my own hands."

"What do you want with her?" Isaac's brow furrowed, fearing Brittany sought retribution for past grievances. If that were the case, he'd rather handle it himself.
