Chapter 865
After her surgery, Grace bounced back with remarkable speed.
Initially, the doctors were hesitant to discharge her. But Grace, who could never quite settle in the sterile hospital environment, insisted on going home.
Isaac couldn't bear to upset her, so he arranged for a medical team to stay at Salter Manor, ensuring she had round-the-clock care.
Though confined to her wheelchair, Grace's cheeks glowed with health-a stark improvement from before.
"Where are Bri and Zac?" she inquired, not seeing them around.
Emily strolled in at the call. "They are upstairs." She handed Grace a glass of honey-infused lemon water, saying, "I'll fetch them for you." "Please do."
Dinner was approaching, and it was time for everyone to gather.
Emily had barely ascended a few steps when she spotted Isaac leading Brittany out of their room.
Daniel had let slip about Isaac and Brittany's recent spat and consequent separate sleeping arrangements.
Grace had used the guise of a family dinner to mend their rift.
Judging by their closeness now, it seemed to have worked.
Emily hurried back down to whisper the news to Grace, who visibly brightened at the update.
The pair descended the staircase.
After a warm greeting from Grace, they all made their way into the dining room, where a sumptuous meal awaited them. The evening concluded with Brittany and Isaac staying overnight at the manor. Post-bath, as Brittany emerged, Isaac closed in for an embrace.
"Hands off, mister." Brittany held him at bay. "Grandma is still downstairs."
She had her pride.
Isaac, thwarted but not discouraged, captured her lips in a lingering kiss, their proximity stirring a near surrender in Brittany.
Then came the footsteps.

The knock at the door.
It snapped Brittany to her senses. She pushed Isaac away, quickly fixed her attire, and opened the door.
"Ms. Dustin, Grace asked me to prepare some snacks."
Emily stood at the doorway, balancing two bowls of chicken noodle soup, a knowing
smile on her face.
Brittany took the bowls, while Isaac, with a fierce glint in his eye, almost scared Emily into a sprint away from the scene.
Had she interrupted something? But it was Grace's request!
As Brittany turned with the soup, Isaac's arms encircled her waist, causing her to startle and nearly spill their midnight snack.
With quick reflexes, Isaac took the bowls from her, set them aside, and pulled her close, whispering, "We'll go back tomorrow night." With her cheeks burning, Brittany agreed.
Isaac reluctantly released her, and they settled down to enjoy the soup.
Emily's culinary skills never failed to impress, and after the satisfying meal, Brittany fell asleep in Isaac's embrace.
Deep into the night, Salter Manor lay quiet, except for a dim light in the study.
Grace was restless, asking Emily to wheel her there.
"You can leave now," she said as she pulled open a drawer and retrieved a frar photograph-it was her wedding picture with Pete.
The man in the picture was young and dashing, his features bearing a resembla Isaac's. However, the man in the photograph seemed more gentle and refined.
"Grace, don't dwell too much on the past. You need to take care of yourself," Emily sa well aware of Grace's nightly ritual of revisiting her late husband's memories. "Just go, Emily," Grace's voice was hoarse with emotion.
Once alone, Grace caressed the photograph, her hands trembling uncontrollably.
Under the dim light, her silhouette seemed as fragile as a leaf in autumn, ready to crumble at the slightest touch.
