"Can't you hear me? Get out of the room, now!" Jenny's voice was noticeably higher.

Reluctantly, Kara emerged from the bedroom, looking hesitant and uneasy.

"It's you, huh?" Jenny scoffed coldly. "I thought they were lying. Who's your fiancé, huh? Let's hear it."

Jenny was clearly out to embarrass Kara. Sure enough, Kara's face had turned pale.

Oblivious to the situation, one of the roommates blurted out, "Kara's fiancé is..."

"Shut it." Another girl quickly elbowed her friend beside her. It was common knowledge at the school that Kieran's heart belonged to his childhood sweetheart, Eloise.

And then, Eloise was right there, making it utterly absurd for someone to spread baseless rumors over her head. Whoever had arranged Kara's room had no clue about the situation between Kieran and Eloise. Suddenly, no one spoke. Kara stood to the side, head down, silent.

"Speak up! Why don't you answer?" Jenny glared at Kara in front of her.

Kara was even more shameless than Freya had been!

"I'm sorry, Ms. Harwood. I didn't mean to compete with you for Mr. Sutton. Audrey asked me to develop a relationship with him. If it bothers you, I'll tell her now, and I won't contact Mr. Sutton again." Kara looked pitiful.

The rest of the dorm crowd heard the ruckus and came to check out the scene.

Jenny found Kara's words

somewhat amusing. "And who do you think you are? Just a country bumpkin, thinking you could become Mrs. Sutton? You'd still not be in line even if they chose Freya! You have the nerve to say you'll stop contacting Mr. Sutton? Mr. Sutton is fond of Eloise. You're, at best, a maid for the Sutton family. Don't think you're something special just because Audrey likes you. Ellie could snap her fingers and you'd be a nobody in Echo City!"

"Alright, Jenny, don't scare her off." Feeling the humiliation was enough, Eloise stepped in to play the good cop. She said, "Ms. Orson, please don't take this to heart. Kieran and aren't a thing. But I heard you've been taking care of Audrey at the Sutton family daily, which must be tough. Why not stay at the Sutton Mansion? It would be more convenient, wouldn't it? Is Kieran unwilling? Do you need me to have a

word with him?"

Kara's expression worsened. People outside were whispering about Kara. Initially, they thought Kara was heading to the Sutton family to become a daughter-in-law, but it turned out she was merely a daily caregiver for Audrey.

How was that different from a maid? And maids could at least live at the Sutton Mansion. Yet Kara had no place to stay and had to freeload in her classmates' dormitory.

The other roommates doubted Eloise's words, turning their heads to look at Kara.

Having had her fill of belittling Kara, Eloise feigned generosity. "Crashing here for a few days is cool. But as the big cheese of the student council, I gotta make sure everyone's stuff and cash are safe We've got a solid track record - nothing's ever gone missing here, but, you know, if new faces come in, it could throw things off if something did go missing. So, not gonna ask you for rent, just need a security deposit to make sure nobody else gets shortchanged. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you'd pinch something - just standard stuff for everyone's peace of mind."

Eloise's words left no room for refusal. Thus, Kara had no choice but to nod in agreement.
