The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains
Chapter 106 The Confrontation Between the Smith Siblings

This time, Emily knew Michael wasn't drugged.

He was totally conscious.

But they were about to get divorced, so why did he kiss her?

He kept pushing her away, yet repeatedly tried to hold on to her.

A wave of anger surged through Emily, and she shoved Michael away, not dwelling on the sudden kiss at all.

"Enough! Michael, what do you take me for?" Emily snapped.

Michael was clueless about what Emily meant.

Honestly, he didn't know why he made such a weird move either.

Logically, he should be disgusted with Emily and not want to be near her.

But his actions told a different story.

Right then, Michael realized he didn't want to leave Emily as much as he thought.

"You're still my wife. Is it a crime to kiss you?" Michael frowned, talking to Emily like he was lecturing her.

He was still so chauvinistic, always trying to dominate her.

Yeah, he only saw her as a plaything.

In the end, Emily just shot Michael a fierce look, said nothing, and left the bedroom to replace another room to sleep in.

All night, Emily tossed and turned, unable to sleep because of exhaustion and nausea.

She tried talking to the baby in her belly. "Baby, mommy is really tired. Can you let mommy have a good sleep? Mommy promises you, when you come out, mommy will buy you lots of yummy food and fun toys." After saying that, something miraculous happened-Emily's stomach actually stopped hurting.

In a daze, she finally fell asleep.

The next morning, Emily left the house.

She had almost finished dealing with the Smith family's affairs. Although she wasn't in a rush to tidy up the new place she rented, she still needed to check on Isabella. Coincidentally, Abigail was off today, and they had agreed to meet at the hospital entrance.

Emily took a cab and didn't inform Michael, only telling Benjamin.

She felt she had no reason to explain everything to Michael.

After all, they were about to get divorced.

But could they really sever all ties after the divorce?

Emily thought for a moment, unlocked her phone, and looked at the bank notification of the recent deposit.

Michael did keep his word, transferring $700,000 and $400,000 into her account.

The $700,000 was specifically marked as compensation for Emily's three years of taking care of Michael.

Looking at the $700,000, Emily felt an indescribable sadness.

They were a couple; she would rather not calculate things so clearly and would rather not have the $700,000, just to have Michael's genuine care and consideration. Thinking of this, Emily couldn't help but laugh at herself.

If anyone in the Smith family, except Mason, knew about this, they would probably think she was being pretentious again, right?

Forget it, as Abigail said, this was what she deserved, so she should accept it with peace of mind!

It could also solve her immediate urgent needs!

Emily took a deep breath and looked out the window, seeing the bright sunshine.

Emerald City had good weather again, just like the smooth and brilliant path she was about to take.

"What? She left again?" Michael woke up to the news that Emily had left the villa and immediately got angry, his back wound starting to ache again. Seeing his reaction, Benjamin quickly spoke up. "Mr. Smith, don't worry. Mrs. Smith said she was going to see her mother and would probably be back soon." Hearing this, Michael calmed down a bit.

But he still stubbornly refused to say anything nice. "Is she tired of the Smith family's troubles? Who cares if she comes back or not."

Seeing Michael's prideful and indifferent attitude, Benjamin changed the subject to Veda. This was also the main reason he knocked on Michael's door.

"Mr. Smith, you should go see Ms. Smith. She was just persuaded by Mrs. Smith to eat yesterday, but today she's causing trouble again," Benjamin said.

In Benjamin's words, Michael only heard what he wanted to hear. He didn't care if Veda was causing trouble again; he was amazed that Emily could persuade Veda to eat.

He knew Veda well. If there was no money to tempt her, she wouldn't listen to anyone.

Michael had a sudden realization, remembering he had given Emily a VIP card yesterday.

That VIP card had no password and no limit; she could use it freely. Thinking of this, Michael immediately had a premonition, his face darkening.

He said nothing and rushed to Veda's room.

"I don't care, I want to go out! Let me out! I want to go out! If you keep illegally detaining me, I'll jump from this fifth floor..." Veda shouted.

"Jump if you want, see if anyone in the Smith family will be threatened by you," Michael said in anger.

Meanwhile, Veda, with disheveled hair, was shouting on the guest room bed. She had nothing to throw, but she had enough strength after eating and drinking.

She thought it would be Emily coming to see her again. Veda had even prepared her words to confront Emily.

But to her surprise, the next second, Michael appeared, hands in pockets, exuding a strong sense of oppression. Veda immediately froze, swallowed, and sat down obediently. "Why is it you, Michael?" Veda asked.

"Who else did you think it would be? Want to jump? I'll help you open the window," Michael replied.

Saying this, Michael moved towards the window.

Veda knew Michael wouldn't fall for her tricks, so she stopped pretending, pulled Michael over, and put on a guilty smile.

"Oh, I was just kidding, you took it seriously," Veda said, noticing Michael was already dressed.

"Michael, are you going to work today?" Veda asked.

Michael knew what Veda meant, and coldly replied, "Don't think about going out. Stay here obediently, I can give you $30,000..."

"Then I can go out?" Veda interrupted excitedly.

"No," Michael immediately refused, then added coldly, "$30,000, for online shopping."

Hearing this, Veda felt like a grasshopper in winter, completely unable to jump.

She collapsed on the bed, angrily staring at Michael. "Online shopping? You evil capitalist, how could you think of that! I can't even go out, what else is there to spend on?" "$50,000," Michael said.

"No!" Veda replied.

"$100,000," Michael said.

"I don't want $200,000 either!" Veda replied.

Michael kept raising the price, but the usually greedy Veda, who wouldn't miss even $300, didn't care about $200,000 today!

Michael's suspicion grew. He frowned and asked Veda, "If you insist on going out today, it's not impossible, but let me make it clear, I won't give you any money." Unexpectedly, Veda stood her ground, hands on her hips. "Don't give it then, I don't need it!"
