The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains
Chapter 107 An Unexpected Encounter

"Don't need it?" Michael hit the nail on the head this time.

His face darkened even more, which made Veda jump.

Michael slowly reached out his hand towards her, and Veda felt a wave of nervousness and guilt wash over her.

Her young face couldn't hide a thing.

"What are you doing?" Veda asked.

"Hand it over," Michael replied.

"Hand over what?" Veda asked.

"The VIP card Emily gave you," Michael said.

"No way, how could Emily be so sneaky? She just gave me the VIP card and then went and ratted me out to you? Didn't she say I could spend it however I wanted?" Veda said.

Michael stared at Veda like he could see right through her.

He squinted his eyes and flicked Veda's forehead hard with his finger. "Emily didn't tell me the VIP card was with you, I figured it out myself."

"You're lying! How did you guess? It was Emily! She told on me to you. She did it so subtly, and to think I was planning to keep her secret yesterday..." Veda slipped up, giving Michael more leverage. Michael's eyebrows furrowed again. "Keep what secret?"

Veda wished Emily would just leave the Smith family and never get in her way again.

So, there was no way she would help Emily by telling Michael about her pregnancy.

Veda wasn't that dumb. She rolled her eyes, reluctantly gave up the VIP card, and handed it to Michael.

She couldn't get out of this mess, so she might as well use money to avoid more trouble!

After all, Veda was the precious daughter of the Smith family. Could she ever run out of money?

"What secret could there be? She just wants to divorce you quickly and get away from the Smith family! Here's the VIP card. You two are both so bad, just get divorced already. Staying together is a disaster for everyone!" Veda replied. With that, Veda pulled the blanket over her head and turned away in a huff.

Michael's eyes turned red with anger upon hearing this.

Did Emily want a divorce so badly that she wanted to announce it to the world?

Just as he was thinking this, his phone rang.

Michael picked up his phone, and for a moment, he hoped it might be Emily calling.

But he guessed the surname right, not the first name.

The call was from Sophia. "Hello? It's me."

Michael walked out of the guest room as he answered the call.

As his footsteps faded, Veda peeked out from under the blanket, clutching the edge in anger. "Emily, you want to play this game with me? Do you think I'm a fool? Just wait until I get out, I'll definitely deal with you properly!" The hospital was so quiet that Emily momentarily forgot many of her worries.

She sat alone by the bed, staring at the unconscious Isabella.

Maybe she had long been used to this state, Emily sighed and smiled, talking to Isabella. "Mom, everything is fine with me now, and the baby is fine too. Most importantly, I no longer have to worry about money. You can rest here and recover, and I can work hard to create better conditions for the baby."

Thinking of this, Emily thought of Michael.

To be honest, all of this was thanks to Michael.

But Emily also knew that she had earned it through years of grievances and tears.

In front of Isabella, her thoughts were always the most delicate and tender.

Emily couldn't help but get emotional again.

Fortunately, Abigail called in time, preventing Emily's bad mood from lasting too long.

"Okay, I'll wait for you at the entrance," Emily said.

"Don't rush, make sure Isabella is settled before you come out!" Abigail said.

Abigail was always so considerate, and it was the only warmth Emily could feel at the moment.

She agreed with a smile, but after hanging up, she quickly tidied up and walked out of the ward.

In that brief moment, Emily's thoughts drifted to what she and Abigail might eat at the nearby mall, not noticing Isabella's fingers twitch slightly.

Outside the hospital, Abigail was leaning against her car waiting.

But there was someone else beside her, and Emily recognized him immediately it was Daniel.

He seemed to be off work, wearing casual clothes.

Emily walked over to ask, and sure enough, Daniel had just finished work and happened to run into Abigail.

"If I had known you were visiting Isabella today, I would have come to replace you directly." Daniel seemed very attentive and considerate when he saw Emily.

Even Abigail noticed something, but Emily thought it was just a normal concern between friends.

However, Abigail later asked Emily about it, and although Emily denied it, Abigail insisted that Daniel's actions were very obvious, and Emily couldn't possibly not notice. There was only one possibility-she was pretending not to notice because she had no intention of accepting Daniel.

"Daniel, you don't have to be so polite. I just came to talk to my mom and pay her medical bills for the year," Emily said.

Daniel smiled and quickly changed the subject, trying to extend their time together. "What are you planning to do next?" "We're going to eat!" Abigail quickly responded.

"What are you eating?" Daniel asked.

"Dr. Wilson, do you have any good suggestions?" Abigail asked.

"I know a good new Japanese restaurant nearby. I've been wanting to try it but haven't had the chance..." Daniel replied.

Before Daniel could finish, Abigail eagerly responded, "Let's go together then. We said we would have a meal together last time!"

With that, Abigail nudged Emily with her elbow, grinning mischievously. Emily had no objections; she did owe Daniel a meal and should return the favor.

"Yes, Daniel, let's go together. I'll treat you both," Emily said.

"Okay," Daniel said.

The three of them agreed and prepared to drive there.

With Daniel around, Abigail naturally wouldn't be the driver. She handed him the car keys with a smile, pushed Emily into the front passenger seat, and sat in the back herself. Before that, she didn't forget to tease Emily. "Why aren't you more enthusiastic towards Dr. Wilson? If you're treating someone to a meal, you should at least be hospitable!"

Emily looked like she wanted to roll her eyes and make a disdainful gesture, responding helplessly, "You've said everything; what else can I say?"

The new Japanese restaurant indeed had a great environment and excellent service.

As soon as they entered, they were led to a prime semi-private room by the waiter.

However, there was a special rule here. Since all the dishes were meticulously crafted with expensive ingredients, to prevent customers from dining and dashing or being scared off by the prices, they required prepayment, with any excess refunded.

"Order whatever you like; it's on me," Daniel said, about to hand his VIP card to the waiter.

Seeing this, Emily quickly grabbed it and handed it back to Daniel. "I said I would treat this time, Daniel, don't fight with me."
