The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains
Chapter 127 Deceiving Veda

As soon as Veda opened her mouth, she was straight-up rude. This really ticked Sophia off.

But she had to prove to her friends that she was tight with the Smith family, so she bit her tongue for now. She'd figure out how to handle Veda later.

Sophia said, "Veda, I know you can't stand me, but I've got some news about Daniel. Wanna hear it?"

The moment Veda heard Daniel's name, she froze. She used to like being in the hospital because, even if she couldn't go out and have fun, at least she got to see Daniel every day. But she never saw it coming that Michael would be her nemesis. He insisted on transferring Daniel away and bringing in some old doctor to replace him.

Now, Veda had lost her last bit of hope, so she decided to seize the opportunity and sneak out. She didn't care what she'd face when she got home! She'd take it one day at a time!

First, she was gonna have some fun! Besides having fun, Daniel was the only thing Veda cared about. Hearing that Sophia had news about him, she was instantly interested.

"Where's Daniel? I haven't seen him for days, and he hasn't replied to my messages," Veda said.

Who knew where he was? But seeing the situation, Sophia knew she had lied just right. Now, she just needed to use Daniel as bait to get Veda to come with her.

"I've got a group of friends waiting for me to join them for drinks, so I can't chat much right now. Why don't you come with me, and I'll spill everything when we get there? Daniel's been super busy lately, and I can't explain it all at once," Sophia said.

Sophia was always good at lying, and Veda fell for it.

When she showed up in a tight purple strap dress, showing a bit of cleavage, with long red curly hair and fiery red lips, the whole room went silent.

Some people there had seen Veda before and knew she was Michael's younger sister. When Sophia introduced Veda as a friend, everyone bought it.

Sophia loved the admiring and respectful looks but forgot how to cover up her earlier lie. She had never met Daniel. How could she make up stories about him?

After stalling for a long time until Veda got impatient, Sophia finally came up with an excuse. She remembered that Daniel knew Emily, so she decided to pin everything on Emily.

"You said Emily's been with Daniel lately? They even went on a trip together?" Veda asked.

Facing Veda's doubts, Sophia kept lying smoothly. "Yeah, I found out myself. It's true. They even went to the beach. You wouldn't believe it, but Emily planned the whole thing. She only invited Daniel, clearly with other intentions." "Can you believe her? Not divorcing Michael but then getting involved with Daniel. It's a disgrace to our Brown family and a shame to your Smith family..."

Before Sophia could finish, Veda had already picked up a glass of red wine and splashed it in her face. It was so unexpected that Sophia didn't even react. She was drenched in wine in front of everyone.

"Wow, the Smith family girl is pretty fierce!"

"What's up, Miss Smith? Did Sophia piss you off? That can't be, aren't you two friends?"

"Yeah, friends can talk things out. Why go straight to violence?"

"Sophia, are you really Veda's friend? Don't try to fool us; we can all see through it!"

Unreliable friends were ultimately useless. Seeing Sophia drenched in wine, everyone thought the situation wasn't chaotic enough and started teasing.

Hearing this, Veda immediately caught on to what was happening.

Her temper was never to tolerate anyone, so she slapped Sophia again. "So you tricked me for your own gain? Emily has been with Michael these past few days, going back to the Smith Mansion every day to take care of my grandfather." "And, you probably don't know, but Emily has been making my meals while I've been in the hospital. How could she have time to go out with Daniel? Next time you want to slander her, don't involve Daniel, and don't put on a show in front of me."

With that, Veda snorted coldly. She raised her slender fingers and unceremoniously pinched Sophia's chin.

Watching the red wine trickle down Sophia's cheek, making her look utterly disheveled, Veda smirked and continued, "Sophia, you? Are you even worthy of being my friend? I've told you before, you're not even worthy to be my servant!" With that, Veda lifted her eyelids and looked at the group of men and women in front of her, dressed inappropriately and looking just as bad.

She didn't know where these low-class people came from, thinking they could be friends with the heiress of Smith Corporation. It was simply a joke.

At the same time, her anger reached its peak. She directly threw Sophia aside, picked up her bag, and turned to leave. At that moment, Sophia was extremely embarrassed because of Veda.

She was humiliated, and at this moment, her unreliable friends added fuel to the fire.

"Well, Sophia, we thought you had a special relationship with the Smith family, but it turns out you were just bullied by Veda!"

"Yeah, if you marry into the family, will you have to carry their shoes every day?"

With these words, the whole room erupted in laughter.

"Sophia, you want to interfere in Emily's marriage and steal her husband, but isn't the price too high? Being a mistress in this society isn't easy!"

"Yeah, you can lie to us, we won't hold it against you, but high-society marriages aren't easy. Don't come crying to us when Veda bullies you!"

After a round of ridicule, they couldn't be bothered to keep up appearances with Sophia. Soon, everyone at the table left.

Only Sophia was left, slumped on the sofa. Facing numerous critical gazes and gossip, she silently cried.

But how could Sophia just let it go? Her face instantly turned cold, her fists clenched, and the veins on the back of her hands bulged.

Sophia felt deeply looked down upon, but thinking carefully, how was she different from Emily?

Except for not being born from the same mother, they both had the last name Brown, both were Hayden's daughters, and both had interactions with Michael.

But why! Why was Emily the esteemed mistress of the Smith family? And she was just a worthless illegitimate daughter.

And that Veda. She was just relying on Michael being her brother and the backing of Smith Corporation. Other than that, she was nothing but a waste! Sophia was burning with jealousy. She angrily swept all the cups on the table to the ground, and a thought of revenge arose in her heart.
