The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains -
Chapter 126 Feeding Hawthorn
As soon as Emily finished talking, she noticed Michael driving and opening his mouth wide at her.
"What are you doing?" Emily asked, puzzled.
"Didn't you tell me to eat some hawthorn to settle my stomach?" Michael replied.
"I meant for you to eat it yourself," Emily said, rolling her eyes.
"Emily, I'm driving, and there are no traffic lights on this road," Michael pointed out.
Emily sighed, realizing he had a point. Driving did need full attention.
Reluctantly, she slowly brought the hawthorn to Michael's mouth.
"Emily, you're too far away, I can't reach it," Michael said.
With a huff, Emily stretched her arm further until Michael could finally take a bite. The warmth of his lips brushed her hand for a moment before disappearing. She quickly pulled her hand back, relieved. Michael felt the hawthorn juice burst in his mouth, and his mood lifted. He couldn't resist teasing her. "What are you dodging for? Afraid I'll bite you?"
Emily hesitated, unsure how to respond. Michael, still casual, said, "Give me another one."
Emily thought to herself, 'Another one? Oh well, it's just for show.'
She grabbed a handful from the box and stuffed it into Michael's open mouth.
"Emily, what are you doing, trying to choke me?" Michael spluttered.
Choking on the sudden influx of hawthorn, Michael quickly turned the steering wheel and found a safe spot to park. He braked hard and bent over, coughing.
"I just didn't agree to the divorce, and now we're discussing not getting divorced for now. Are you trying to kill me to take all my assets?" Michael managed to say between coughs.
Emily sneered. "Sorry, I'm not interested in your assets. I just thought feeding you all at once would save me the trouble, got it, Mr. Smith?"
Michael was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing. Emily was utterly confused. What was so funny?
"Emily, what did you just say? You want to feed me all at once so you won't have to bother? That sounds a bit strange. Shouldn't I be the one saying that to you?" Michael retorted. Emily's cheeks turned red as she realized what he meant. She had said it without thinking, and now it sounded so indecent.
Feeling embarrassed, Emily threw down the hawthorn box and reached for the door handle, but the fast-moving traffic outside made it too dangerous to get out.
Michael quickly grabbed her arm. "What are you doing?"
"Michael, please show me some respect, we're about to get divorced!" Emily snapped.
"No need to emphasize, but I warn you, Emily, as long as we're not divorced, you're still my wife. Saying such things to you isn't illegal, even at the police station. Sit tight and don't do anything dangerous," Michael said firmly. He then leaned over to help Emily fasten her seatbelt, his demeanor suddenly turning into that of a commanding CEO.
Emily finally calmed down, her eyes red-rimmed. Michael glanced at her seriously.
Emily turned her head away, staying silent.
"Marrying me, did it wrong you?" Michael asked.
Hearing that, Emily immediately wanted to unbuckle her seatbelt and get out of the car again!
What did he mean by marrying him wronged her? How could he even ask that?
But before Emily could respond, Michael turned serious and answered his own question. "I know it wronged you. I'm sorry. I know I can't make it up to you, but if you need, I'll get you five boxes of hawthorn tomorrow." Meanwhile, Andrew was busy having people investigate the mastermind behind the articles and videos.
Sophia, on the other hand, was completely unaware. She was waiting for the next big move from Smith Corporation. But after waiting all day, there was no movement.
Sophia couldn't help but feel pleased. It seemed Michael was out of options this time. The next step should be to prepare to announce their relationship, right?
After all, Sophia really didn't believe that if Emily saw the video showing them spending an entire night together, Emily would still be able to tolerate it and turn a blind eye. They should be getting divorced soon. The position of the Smith family matriarch could only be hers.
Thinking this, Sophia excitedly downed three glasses of strong liquor.
Yes, she was in a bad mood today, so she came to the bar with a group of idle friends. Seeing Sophia, they either boasted or mocked. No matter how much Sophia tried to prove her relationship with Michael, they didn't believe it. They just saw Sophia as a homewrecker, even targeting Emily.
One of the idle friends said, "Sophia, if you really want to prove it, we won't stop you. Just bring Michael here to drink with us, and we'll believe you!"
What was so hard about that? Feeling wronged, Sophia believed that if she acted weak and pitiful, Michael would come to accompany her.
After several calls, she received a cold message from Michael: [Stop calling. I'm working overtime, very busy, will accompany you another day.]
This left Sophia embarrassed and even more tormented inside. Even if she showed the message to those people, what good would it do? Without seeing Michael in person, they wouldn't believe it. Feeling extremely wronged, Sophia suddenly saw a familiar figure on the dance floor.
Veda? What was she doing here? Didn't Mason forbid her from going out? Out so soon?
Thinking this, Sophia suddenly had a plan. If Michael wouldn't come, Veda would do. At least it would prove her close relationship with the Smith family. It would make her idle friends admit defeat. So, Sophia eagerly ran to the dance floor, patted the dancing Veda, and smiled, but was met with Veda's sarcasm.
Veda said, "Sophia? What are you doing here? Couldn't take down Emily, so you're bothering me? Get lost, don't ruin my fun, what bad luck!"
