The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains -
Chapter 141 Two-faced
"Alright, there are still reporters outside, Jessica. Keep it together. Mrs. Watson wants us to take the guests to the hotel for dinner. We'll lead the way, just follow us," Michael said, walking over to Emily, making his intentions clear. But Sophia still wanted to tag along.
Seeing this, Michael's face darkened. "I've said it, there are reporters outside. If you really care about me and Smith Corporation, then stop following me." Michael didn't get what Sophia was up to, but he did have feelings for her once.
He couldn't believe he had loved a woman who would heartlessly frame others without thinking about the consequences.
From Sophia's perspective, though, Michael didn't even call her by name, just referred to her as "you." Maybe in his eyes, it was already over between them.
Sophia felt really hurt, especially seeing Michael holding Emily's hand and walking out the door. She suddenly felt a surge of jealousy and wanted to rush up and slap Emily.
After all, breaking up wasn't a one-person decision, she hadn't agreed to it yet! What did this couple take her for, a tool for their entertainment?
"What are you doing?" Jessica asked..
Sophia only thought about causing trouble for others, not realizing that one day the trouble would fall on her.
Because of Sophia's arrival, Jessica sobered up quite a bit. She had seen plenty of complicated relationships in the entertainment industry. Sophia's two-faced tricks were immediately obvious to her.
"Getting in the car. Ms. Foster, let's go. It's noon. You might not be hungry, but others are." Seeing Jessica blocking her, Sophia quickly explained, but her expression was not good.
Sophia just wanted to catch up with Michael quickly, so she could sit with him in the car. Even if she couldn't win Michael's affection today, it would be good enough to annoy Emily. If she couldn't be happy, then no one else should be either. Jessica said, "Stop trying to fool me with your hypocritical excuses. The fact that you can attend Mrs. Watson's birthday party means you have some status, so you better mind your image in front of everyone! Mrs. Watson isn't here yet, do you really think you can eat first?"
Jessica didn't give her the chance. She grabbed Sophia and pulled her behind. Then she took Bryan's arm and said, "Bryan, let's go."
With that, Sophia was left behind by Jessica.
She was also wearing a dress and high heels, making it difficult to move quickly. She could only grit her teeth and follow closely, hoping to get into the car with Michael.
Outside the courtyard, a row of luxury cars was parked. But the most eye-catching was a very spacious, extended Lincoln.
Originally, Mabel had arranged it so Michael and Bryan could talk and reconcile, but now, because of Sophia's appearance, it had turned into a battlefield.
Michael and Emily got into the car first. They sat together, and the atmosphere became tense. Emily wanted Michael to show some attitude. But Michael clearly didn't want to back down, so he casually started a conversation. "Where did you and Jessica go?"
"The restroom, like I told you on the phone," Emily replied.
"Emily, are you serious? I talked with Mrs. Watson for over half an hour, and you were in the restroom the whole time?" Michael said, incredulous.
"Michael, stop making things up, okay? So you don't trust me? Where do you think we were? And you, weren't you talking with Mrs. Watson? How did you run into Sophia? What if there were reporters in the courtyard? Are you trying to bring negative publicity to Smith Corporation? I agreed to pretend with you, but I won't always clean up your mess. Michael, you better watch yourself!" Emily shouted, her frustration boiling over.
Emily was already upset, and now she was even angrier. She had no patience for Michael's relentless questioning. This made Michael angry too.
Fortunately, not everyone had arrived yet, and the driver was waiting outside. Otherwise, the sudden argument would have scared him.
Jessica and the others arrived late, and there were still four seats left in the car: the front passenger seat, the middle row, and the seat next to Michael in the back row. Sophia, of course, aimed for the seat next to Michael.
In front of the media reporters, Jessica couldn't physically stop her. Besides, Sophia had connections in the Emerald City business circle. In other words, she was a guest invited by Mabel. If they were rude to her, it would be disgraceful for the host.
Moreover, the Brown family had complicated relationships, and publicly, Sophia and Emily were sisters. If the older sister got in the car, the younger sister could too. So, they had to let her get in the car in front of the media reporters. This indirectly explained the heated online rumors.
Although Jessica hadn't been in the entertainment industry, she had seen enough to know how to handle it.
In no time, Jessica put on a pretentious act and said to Sophia, "What did you say earlier, that you get car sick? Then you should sit in the front seat! Bryan and I will sit in the middle, and Michael and Emily can have some time alone. We can chat and not bother them!"
With that, Jessica used all her strength to push Sophia into the front seat before she could respond.
Bryan understood Jessica's intention immediately. After all, they had grown up together and had a good understanding.
He signaled to the driver.
The driver, following the instruction, ran to the front seat to help Sophia with the door. "Miss, please get in the car, we don't want to miss the lunch timing."
Bryan, standing about 6 feet tall, blocked the back door, protecting Jessica as she got in.
Sophia had no choice but to sit in the front seat, a seat closest to the driver but farthest from Michael.
The media reporters saw this and started frantically pressing their camera shutters, capturing this historic moment! The headline for this news was already forming in their minds.
