The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains
Chapter 161 Friends' Dispute

"Get in the car," Emily snapped. She wasn't one to coddle anyone. After telling Michael, she got in the car and slammed the door shut. Michael was left speechless by her fiery temper.

Seriously? He was the one who was mad, but she had to be even angrier?

He chuckled to himself and got in the car too.

Meanwhile, the jewelry exhibition was getting set up. Bryan, being the host's son, showed up early with someone by his side.

But it wasn't Jessica; it was a woman named Alice Saunders.

Bryan asked, "Alice, this is the main exhibition stage my mom had built. What do you think?"

Oddly enough, even though they were both from Emerald City, they spoke in a foreign language.

Alice replied, "It's really nice, I love it. Your mom has great taste."

They chatted away, clearly enjoying each other's company. People who knew Bryan rarely saw him this happy.

When Emily and Michael arrived, a staff member led them inside.

They barely spoke on the way, keeping up appearances but saying nothing, leaving the staff member feeling awkward. "Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith, this is the main exhibition area. The opening ceremony will be here soon, and there might be a small auction. Please make sure to join us."

A jewelry auction? Emily figured Michael wouldn't care. He had no one to buy for.

"We will," Emily answered for both of them and started heading to the exhibition stage alone.

But then she remembered Michael was her date, and it wouldn't be right to leave him. Just as she was about to say something, she heard someone calling Michael's name from afar.

"Michael!" The voice had a slightly spoiled tone. Emily saw a beautifully dressed, mixed-race girl running towards them.

The girl seemed very familiar with Michael, hugging him excitedly. "You finally came! I've been waiting for you forever, not just me, but my family too!"

She wrinkled her nose playfully and took his hand.

'Michael really has a way with women wherever he goes,' Emily thought, feeling a sharp pain in her heart.

Sophia left, and now there was another one. Even without these women, there were still those in the office. Michael was indeed a popular guy, irresistibly charming. If it weren't for that, she wouldn't have fallen for him.

But because she loved him, she had to endure these unexpected pains.

Suddenly, Michael looked over at Emily.

The girl also looked over. Just as she was about to ask, Michael pulled Emily over and introduced her. "Alice, let me introduce you. This is my wife, Emily Brown."

Then Michael introduced Alice to Emily. "This is Alice Saunders, a childhood friend of mine. Her parents are also good friends with my dad."

The world of the wealthy was truly hard to understand. They had friends everywhere.

Emily nodded politely. She had thought this girl was one of Michael's admirers, like Sophia, who would see her as an enemy.

But unexpectedly, the girl let go of Michael's hand and took hers instead, smiling sweetly. "Hey, Emily. I'm Alice, but I'm not a foreigner! I grew up abroad and always hung out with Michael when I came back. We're super close. You didn't have a wedding, right? Otherwise, how could I have missed it?"

Alice was as enthusiastic as Jessica. They should get along well, right?

Emily didn't know why she was worrying. The wealthy naturally had wealthy friends. Unlike her, who, despite knowing so many wealthy people, could only be considered a passerby in their world.

Thinking of this, Emily glanced at Michael again.

Seeing him chatting happily with Alice, she didn't want to interrupt. Just as she was about to leave, Bryan walked over.

Damn! What an awkward situation. Why did Bryan have to come over? Would Michael be pissed in the next second?

Thinking of this, Emily couldn't help but stop to watch.

Sure enough, Bryan stood between Michael and Alice, pulling Alice behind him as if declaring war. "My mom is here, waiting for you over there."

Alice looked confused, seemingly unaware of the conflict between Bryan and Michael.

Well, she did live abroad most of the time. With such rough body language, how could she understand the subtleties of emotions?

"OK." As Alice stood there bewildered, Michael spoke up. "Alice, didn't you say your parents were over there? Let's go together. I can introduce my wife to them..."

As Emily expected, anything involving Bryan made even the coldest, most domineering CEO lose his composure. But was it necessary?

Bryan was also ready to fight. "Alice, let's go. My mom has some precious diamonds waiting for you..."

They were both vying for Alice's attention. The competitive atmosphere was palpable.

Michael said, "Why do you always interrupt me, Bryan? Alice is my friend too. She wants to introduce me to her parents. You're being rude."

Bryan replied, "They're over there too. Mr. Smith, if you want to meet them, you can come along. No need to argue with me over trivial matters."

Michael was firm, but Bryan was firmer. Alice was completely clueless about what was happening.

To Emily's surprise, just as the verbal sparring reached its peak, Bryan raised his fist at Michael.

Alice screamed, panicking.

Fortunately, Emily quickly stepped in front of Michael, shielding him. "Bryan, what are you doing!"

Michael was taken aback. Since when was Emily so fearless?

Luckily, Bryan controlled himself and didn't throw the punch.

Emily added, "Bryan, I know you're upset and that you two have misunderstandings, but this is Penelope's jewelry exhibition. Do you really want to make a scene?" With that, Emily signaled to Alice.
