The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains -
Chapter 168 Damage to Reputation
Bryan was starting to get a bit ticked off. He just raised an eyebrow and tried to spook Emily. "I don't have Michael's number. If you start crying here, I can't help you out." "Save your energy and wait until you get home to talk. Just a piece of advice, take it or leave it. I'm outta here."
With that, Bryan turned to leave.
But Emily didn't care at all. She just stared off into the distance, completely ignoring Bryan.
Who would've thought Emily wouldn't bite? Who knew what Michael did to hurt her so badly?
Bryan was stumped. Scaring her wasn't gonna work.
Of course, Bryan was just bluffing. No way he'd actually leave Emily stranded here.
Leaving a defenseless woman in the middle of nowhere only Michael would pull something like that.
"Now, call a tow truck and get me another car." A few miles away, Michael, hands on his hips, impatiently called Andrew.
It wasn't that he didn't want to go back for Emily; the car just broke down before he had a chance to turn around. He was stuck.
Michael was at a loss. He wanted to call Emily, but she had blocked him and hadn't unblocked him yet.
Michael was fuming. Why was she always so hostile towards him?
Frustrated, Michael hung up, locked the car, and started walking back against the wind to replace Emily.
Meanwhile, Bryan had forced Emily into his car.
After all, she couldn't imagine what might happen in this desolate place.
And Bryan didn't know what had happened between her and Michael. Since she didn't want to talk, he could only take her home and figure it out later. Bryan said, "I was gonna take Alice home, but after waiting a while, she left with her parents. Lucky for you, I was late, and you ran into me. You're lucky." This was the longest and most emotional sentence Emily had heard from Bryan since she met him.
But Emily still didn't want to respond. She just sat silently in the back seat, watching the night scenery change from desolate to bustling.
Emily still didn't get a call from Michael.
She couldn't help but think silently, 'This is the final outcome of my long marriage.'
Maybe she was scared by the drunkard earlier, or maybe she was deeply hurt by Michael. Emily completely forgot she had blocked Michael.
It wasn't until Bryan stopped the car that Emily slowly came back to her senses.
"Where are we?" She finally spoke.
Bryan picked up his phone from the center console, playing with it as he replied. "My place."
Seeing Emily look over, Bryan continued to explain. "Don't get me wrong. You don't know Alice well, so I can't take you there. Besides, I can't explain it to her parents. Jessica, well, she's filming tonight, and it's not convenient to rest at her set." "As for Michael... you know we don't get along. I can't go to his place. Plus, there are eyes all over the Smith Mansion. I'm not risking getting photographed and ruining my reputation."
"The Watson Mansion... my mom's easygoing, but my grandma's a tough nut to crack. You know how it is with the elderly. So, I can only take you to my place for now. You cool with that?" True, staying with her would inevitably harm Bryan's reputation.
Thinking about it, Emily's eyelids fluttered. She looked up at Bryan and said, "I can stay at a hotel. Thanks for tonight."
With that, Emily turned to leave.
But Bryan called her back. "It's already late. There are a lot of bars around here. It's not safe for you to be alone."
"Mrs. Smith, whether you stay or leave isn't my business, but you're part of the Smith family. As a member of the Watson family, I have the right to help you. That's how our circle works." "Everyone's a connection, and everyone helps each other. It's all about benefits. Anyway, I don't want Michael to get the wrong idea, and I don't have time to argue with him. Come with me." Bryan finished and walked towards the apartment building.
Emily could tell this was a high-end community. It must be Bryan's own place. It didn't matter. No one would care where she went. Michael probably wouldn't care either. If she went to a hotel, the Smith family would still have to cover all her expenses.
So... thinking of this, Emily felt suffocated.
She decided to follow him.
Meanwhile, Michael was still searching for Emily.
Michael said, "It's strange, I remember leaving her here. Where did she go?"
The cold wind made Michael shiver.
But being on the blacklist, he couldn't contact Emily.
After thinking it over, he decided to call Emily's good friend, Abigail.
Maybe Abigail had already safely taken Emily home.
After several calls, Abigail finally answered. "Hi?"
Hearing her arrogant tone, Michael lost his patience and questioned her. "Is Emily with you? Ask her what she wants. Isn't it enough to throw a tantrum at her dad? Now she has to..."
Before Michael could finish, Abigail interrupted. "What?"
She was truly a "good friend". Hearing this, Abigail immediately checked her call log. Emily had called her twenty times, and she hadn't answered any of them!
Now Michael was urgently calling, clearly they had fought again!
Emily must be the weaker party. She had just moved out of her new place and might be wandering the streets now!
Abigail scolded, "Mr. Smith! Don't play the victim here. I know Emily well! And don't talk nonsense with me. I'm out of town. How could I be with Emily? I need to call her right now to replace out where she is. Don't waste my time!" Abigail hung up immediately.
Michael was left standing there.
Emily wasn't with Abigail. So where was she? In those short ten minutes, where could she have gone?
