The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains -
Chapter 181 Caught on the Spot
Sophia greeted, "Long time no see!"
Bryan's face stayed cold as he saw Sophia strolling towards him.
He acted like he didn't see her, but Sophia kept coming anyway.
She was never afraid of losing face, because, in her eyes, it was more embarrassing for the son of the prestigious Watson family to be reduced to attending a low-profile, insignificant party than to be ignored like this. Sophia teased, "Mr. Watson, didn't you say we're not the same kind of people? You got invited, and so did I. Who would've thought people like us would end up at the same party!"
"It seems like what you said was pretty biased. There are no real distinctions in this world; it's just the baseless arrogance of clueless rich folks like you!"
After saying that, Sophia bit her lip and glared at Bryan with jealousy and hatred.
She thought her words would tick Bryan off.
But to her surprise, Bryan just frowned a bit and looked at her with eyes full of sympathy and pity.
Sophia hated that look.
Even though she didn't want to admit it, when she first met Michael, he had the same look in his eyes.
Did Michael start loving her out of pity? Sophia hated being pitied. It made her feel weak. But she wasn't weak.
Compared to her, Emily was the real pitiful one-three years without her husband's love, not even basic family affection or fatherly love. Why did she have to compete with her!
Sophia snapped, "You can ignore me, but you can't ignore your own cowardice. Bryan, open your eyes and see, tonight's party will show you what the so-called son of the Watson family is capable of, and whether you're a business talent compared to me!"
Bryan just kept staring at Sophia coldly. But her harsh words did get to him.
From the start, Bryan had no interest in business.
If Richard hadn't suddenly come back and proposed to divorce Penelope, if Mabel hadn't gotten sick, and if the family hadn't faced such changes, maybe he wouldn't have had to support this big enterprise.
Just as Bryan's eyelids twitched and his defenses were breaking down bit by bit, someone behind him spoke up. "The Watson family is a conglomerate, which means it won't go bankrupt and shows that the ancestors were wealthy for three generations. Just with this, he's already beaten you."
Hearing that familiar voice, Sophia guessed it was Michael.
And there were also the sounds of high heels behind him.
It seemed like Emily, that bitch, had come to the party with Michael again.
But why would they come to such a small party? And they just happened to hear her talking to Bryan. It was said that Michael and Bryan used to be good friends.
Thinking of this, Sophia wanted to bolt.
She frowned, bit her lip, then turned around with a smile and said to Michael, "Michael, you're here too."
"Haven't I told you not to call me that in public? We broke up." Michael's face looked even colder than Bryan's. His eyes and brows were full of a sense of oppression.
In a panic, Sophia wanted to explain, but Michael spoke to her again. "Also, you just tried to kill yourself a few days ago, and you've recovered so well. No wonder Mr. Brown sent you out to socialize so quickly." Everyone could tell Michael was being sarcastic.
Seeing Emily beside him, Sophia clenched her fists, feeling utterly humiliated.
Emily didn't expect Michael to speak like that today.
But it made sense since Sophia had provoked Bryan.
Bryan used to be Michael's best friend, and this whole scene was just embarrassing for her.
Emily just watched coldly from the side. She knew Michael misunderstood Sophia, and she certainly wouldn't let it go.
Sure enough, in the next second, Sophia's eyes started to redden, and tears began to flow.
Seeing this, Emily couldn't help but think, 'Why does Sophia waste her energy every day trying to steal someone else's husband and property? She should really take an acting class; she might become an internationally renowned actress in the future.'
With a cold smile, Emily watched as Sophia stepped forward, grabbed Michael's hand, and said excitedly, "Michael, it's not what you think. I really can't live without you, Michael. Do you really want me to die? Fine, I can die, I can do anything for you!"
Sophia was representing the Brown family at the party today.
There weren't many people around, but if she made too much noise and attracted attention, it wouldn't be good for the Brown family or Hayden.
Sophia was smart, so she deliberately lowered her voice.
But even so, Michael saw through her act and shook her off, warning coldly, "If you don't want to make a big scene, you'd better disappear from my sight quickly. Sophia, considering we once had feelings, I won't do anything to you, but if you keep causing trouble in front of me and the Watson family, I'll have security take you out, and I'll take responsibility for the consequences."
Anyone who knew Michael knew he wasn't bluffing.
Even though he wasn't the host of tonight's party, he still had the power to call security.
In the business world of Emerald City, who would dare not respect Michael? That would be cutting off their own financial path.
Sophia understood this well, so she obediently let go of Michael's hand, gritted her teeth, and turned to leave.
Seeing this, Emily slowly walked up and asked Michael, "Aren't you afraid she will really die?"
Michael's face was stern. "Just because she pretended to commit suicide to deceive me, I know we're absolutely impossible."
Yes, Michael hated being deceived the most. Bryan knew this deeply.
Listening to Michael, Bryan blinked, put his hands in his pockets, and replied coldly, "Thanks. But next time, you don't need to step in to help me. I have to face some situations alone."
After speaking, Bryan nodded to Michael and Emily and left.
Watching his back, Michael felt indescribable.
Maybe Bryan was always like this, only liking to handle things on his own.
Emily couldn't do anything about him either, so she could only comfort Michael first.
After all, they came here today specifically to help Bryan.
Emily said, "Alright, the party is about to start. I heard from the etiquette lady at the door that many reporters will come today. This is a good opportunity for Smith Corporation." Saying this, Emily walked to Michael and took his arm.
