The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains
Chapter 183 Jessica Helps

"Why aren't you eating?" Michael mumbled through a mouthful of bread, glancing at Emily who was just sitting there, not even touching her fork.

"I'm not hungry," Emily shrugged, clearly lying.

"But you made so much food," Michael pointed out.

He was just making an observation, but Emily, feeling extra sensitive, took it the wrong way. "I'll pay you back for all this," she snapped.

Michael looked puzzled, "What are you talking about?"

"The food," Emily clarified.

"Emily, are you out of your mind?" Michael asked, bewildered.

"Yeah, I'm really messed up right now. The rumors are cleared, the stock's bouncing back, and now you think I'm a burden? Fine, I'll move out," Emily shot back, standing up to leave. Michael quickly got up and blocked her path. "When did I ever say that? Emily, stop with the moving out talk. I've been swamped and exhausted, I can't keep comforting you."

His words were straightforward and sincere. He looked at Emily, feeling a wave of helplessness wash over him.

Emily felt it too, so she stopped arguing and just watched Michael sit back down.

"Haven't the rumors been cleared up?" Emily asked, taking a few sips of juice, feeling defeated.

"Clearing up the rumors is one thing, but the shareholders... they caused such a mess, ignoring me and Grandpa. I can't just let that slide," Michael said, tearing off another piece of bread.

Emily watched him and suddenly saw him as a lion, ready to pounce. That fierce, predatory vibe made people keep their distance. She wasn't any different.

She lowered her head and went silent. They ate breakfast in silence for the next five minutes.

Emily finished her juice and caught a reflection in the glass. It reminded her of Bryan. Smith Corporation was recovering, but Watson Corporation was in deep trouble.

If the two companies teamed up, Smith Corporation would get stronger with Watson's support, and Watson could use Smith's strength to bounce back. It would be a win-win, and no one would dare mess with Bryan or try to oust Michael. Emily shared her idea with Michael.

But Michael shot it down immediately. "You want me to make peace with Bryan?"

Seeing his frown, Emily felt frustrated. "I just want you to work with Watson Corporation."

But Michael wouldn't hear it. Anything involving Bryan made him tense. "Working with Watson means working with Bryan. That means making peace and forgiving him. I can't do that."

Michael put down his bread, wiped his mouth, and stood up.

Before leaving, he reminded Emily, "It's not over. Don't think about moving out. I'll keep paying you, and you have to keep working."

With that, Michael went upstairs to wash up, leaving Emily alone, rolling her eyes in the dining room.

If there was one group of people Emily thought should vanish first, it was definitely the male chauvinists.

"It's me, Jessica."

"Emily! How do you have time to call me? Do you miss me?"

On her way to Smith Corporation, Emily stared out the window at the trees and suddenly had a brilliant idea. She could get Smith Corporation and Watson Corporation to work together without bruising Michael's ego by asking Jessica for help. Jessica was friends with both Bryan and Michael. She could persuade the icy Bryan and make the wealthy CEO Michael cave. It was the perfect plan.

Emily smiled and continued on the phone, "Yeah, where are you? I want to come see you."

Jessica sounded thrilled, "See me? Emily, you're the best! I'm filming in Emerald City. Unlike heartless Bryan and Michael, you actually want to see me. I'll send you the address!"

After hanging up, Emily got Jessica's location and told the driver to change course.

From Jessica's reaction, it seemed she didn't know about Bryan's family issues. That was good; it gave Emily a chance to ask for her help.

"What did you say? They're getting divorced? Won't that lead to bankruptcy?" Jessica was shocked to hear about Richard and Penelope's split.

She had always envied Bryan's family, but now it was falling apart.

Emily explained, "They won't go bankrupt, but the divorce will cause a big stir in Emerald City. It'll definitely impact the Watson family's business, and some losses are inevitable."

In Emerald City, when a family fell apart, it affected their business interests. Wealthy families often arranged marriages to avoid these issues, ensuring no emotional ties that could lead to marital changes.

Emily found it ridiculous and sad, but Jessica thought it was normal. "Losing a little is fine. Bryan's family is so rich, a little loss is nothing."

Jessica continued getting her makeup done and asked her assistant to get Emily some water.

Emily nodded in thanks, but she had a bigger purpose for coming to see Jessica. After thinking it over, she finally told Jessica her true intention.

She expected Jessica to need time to think, but Jessica agreed quickly. "Sure, let my assistant check my schedule, and I'll go to Smith Corporation to see Michael! He contacted me a few days ago to be their spokesperson. I'll add a condition that they must cooperate with Watson Corporation. Problem solved!" Jessica said, smiling at Emily.

Emily quickly thanked her.

But Jessica said, "Emily, I should be thanking you. Bryan and Michael are both my friends. I've been clueless about their conflicts. Now that I know, I should help." Jessica held Emily's hand and smiled warmly.
