The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains
Chapter 62 My Husband

Abigail knew Sophia wouldn't miss a chance like this and wondered what kind of mess she'd stir up this time. She was worried Emily would get played again.

Emily nodded and said, "Alright, I'll have someone send the dress over in a bit."

Emily had planned to go with Abigail, but Michael had threatened that if she didn't go with him, he wouldn't give Abigail an invitation. Furious, Emily called him "childish" and stormed into Michael's car.

And Abigail's worry was spot on. Tonight's auction was packed with big shots. It was more of a high-society shindig than a real auction. The main goal was to throw some money around for charity. As the head of the Smith Family, Michael wasn't about to miss such a charity auction.

That evening, Emily was still feeling a bit off. Daniel had suggested she skip the crowded event, saying it wouldn't be good for her. But Emily touched her belly and said, "Baby, you gotta behave today. We're getting back grandma's stuff." Emily wanted to rest, but she had no choice today. She had to retrieve the "Lucky" that Isabella had left for her.

Emily knew it wouldn't be easy to get it back smoothly, so she and Abigail had already arranged for someone to help them bid on it at the event.

Silver Creek Manor was huge. When Michael and Emily arrived, she didn't want to go in with Michael, so she made up an excuse to look for Abigail. Michael wasn't happy about it, but thinking of all the crap Emily had been through, he kept quiet and just reminded her not to wander off.

Before the auction started, Abigail pulled Emily aside and said, "Emily, did you see the prices of those items? I think we might be short on cash. Are you really gonna risk everything to bid on that 'Lucky'? Why not ask your husband for help?" Emily glanced at Michael in the distance. He had a cold, indifferent look, holding a wine glass, chatting with some guy.

Emily's eyes were cold. "Will he buy it for me? Have you seen Sophia left his side for a second? She's glued to him."

Abigail gritted her teeth and said, "But Emily, don't forget, you're the real Mrs. Smith. You should go and kick Sophia out. Remember how she locked you in the cold storage last time? Can you still stand her being next to Michael?" Emily shook her head and said, "It's not that I let her stand next to Michael; it's that Michael lets her. Get it?"

Emily felt that if she could, she'd never want to see Sophia again. But it was a cruel joke that her husband allowed Sophia to stand by his side, trampling on her dignity.

Abigail glanced at Sophia in the distance and sighed. "Why do you think like that? He's your husband. You shouldn't let Sophia stand next to him, no matter what. Let's go drive her away and have your husband pay for 'Lucky'! He has promised you to buy whatever you want tonight. Go make him buy it for you."

Abigail gave Emily a nudge, but Emily grabbed her arm and said, "Wait."

Abigail asked, "What's wrong?"

Emily, half-laughing, half-crying, said, "Even if I want Michael to buy it for me, I can't just ask him outright. Otherwise, I might not only fail to get 'Lucky' but also let it fall into Sophia's hands."

Given Sophia's enmity against her, Emily knew that Sophia would definitely go to great lengths to take what she wanted.

"Are you saying Sophia will try to take 'Lucky'?" Abigail asked, frowning.

Emily nodded. "I bet Sophia will want anything I ask for."

Abigail was anxious. "What should we do? You don't have enough money to buy it. Your money is for your mom. Remember? If you compete with Sophia for 'Lucky,' Michael might not side with you. What should we do? Is this a dead end?" Emily took a deep breath. "Then let's see who gets 'Lucky' tonight."

Abigail was furious, stomping her foot. "If it weren't for your dad pawning it off, we wouldn't have to go through all this trouble to get it back."

Emily said nothing, actually contemplating whether to use her own money or Michael's. The former was tough, and the latter even tougher.

Emily couldn't help but sigh. It was so awkward to finally see "Lucky" but not have the money to buy it.

Abigail sighed too. "If it weren't for you saving money for your mom's medical equipment, we could spend freely now."

Emily gave a bitter smile. "Fine, I'll go replace Michael. Let's tell our people not to act rashly. If the price doesn't exceed our expectations, we'll bid ourselves." Abigail nodded. "Alright, that's the plan."

Emily saw Sophia holding Michael's arm, smiling and greeting everyone. She sneered, lifted her dress, and slowly walked towards Michael.

Emily took a deep breath and smiled. "Honey, who are they?"

Emily took Michael's other arm, her smile graceful and gentle.

Emily saw the surprised looks of the CEOS in front of Michael and felt satisfied. She wanted everyone to know she was the real Mrs. Smith.

Michael, hearing Emily call him "honey," couldn't help but smile slightly. He pulled his arm away from Sophia and put it around Emily's shoulder, introducing her to everyone, "This is my wife, Emily."

Emily nodded and greeted everyone. The CEOs looked between Emily and Sophia and grasped the hint that the real Mrs. Simth was Emily.

Sophia saw Emily's smug smile and clenched her fingers. She knew she couldn't let Emily off.

Emily looked at Sophia and said, "Sorry, I have something to discuss with my husband. Excuse us."
