The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains
Chapter 84 You Are Different

How domineering.

Andrew was into women, thank goodness, or else he could easily be attracted by Michael's moves.

"Is the car ready?" Michael asked.

"Yep, all set. The food's already on its way to the hospital. You can have dinner with Mrs. Smith when you get there," Andrew replied. No wonder Michael thought of him as his top-notch assistant.

Michael's face lit up with a satisfied grin after hearing Andrew's report.

He grabbed his suit, ready to head to the hospital to see Emily.

Maybe because Andrew had done such a bang-up job, Michael felt a sudden burst of joy and his appetite kicked in.

In the hospital.

Emily was all smiles, "This is delicious! The sweet and sour flavor is just perfect!"

She was thoroughly enjoying her lunch, Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings, made by Daniel himself.

"I didn't know you could cook like this!" Emily exclaimed with delight.

"Daniel, if you ever get tired of being a doctor, you could totally open a restaurant!" she added.

Daniel felt a warm glow from Emily's praise.

He looked down, smiling shyly, trying to play it cool.

"If you like it, I can make it again next time," he said.

"I have to go out for training later, so I won't be able to enjoy this delicious lunch," he added.

Emily had been feeling lazy and nauseous, thinking she'd just grab something simple for lunch.

But Daniel's timely Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings really hit the spot, and she perked up immediately.

"This won't do!" Emily said.

"No matter how busy you are, you have to eat lunch. Daniel, I've got some disposable utensils here, you can eat a bit first," she added. "I'll order some more food later!" Hearing Emily's enthusiastic offer, Daniel felt even more embarrassed.

"Having some food in your stomach makes a difference. Do you want to study on an empty stomach?" Emily tried to persuade him.

With that, she handed the disposable utensils to Daniel.

Daniel didn't want to miss the chance to have lunch with Emily.

But before he could take his first bite of Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings, Michael showed up.

Seeing them enjoying lunch together so sweetly, he got jealous.

He wished he could just carry Emily back to Emerald Lake Manor and lock her in a room!

Michael strode to the bedside, angrily yanking the knife and fork from Emily's hand.

Andrew, standing behind, immediately moved to take away the Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings from the table.

"Mr. Smith, your subordinate is really overbearing. These Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings are for Emily; you have no reason to take them," Daniel said, snatching the wings back from Andrew. He was ready to stand up to Michael for Emily.

Seeing Michael and Daniel glaring at each other, eyes full of anger, Andrew was too scared to speak.

Fortunately, Emily stepped in, knowing Michael wouldn't back down and was being rude, so she turned to Daniel.

"Daniel, I'm sorry. Why don't you go to your training first? I'll handle things here," Emily said.

Knowing Michael's unreasonable nature, Daniel wanted to protect Emily, but seeing her determined face, he couldn't argue. He took the unfinished Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings and left the room. Emily had Andrew leave as well. Once the room was quiet again, it was just Michael and Emily left.

Her appetite was completely gone now.

Emily was angry, leaning back against the headboard, glaring at Michael with a look of exasperation.

Michael was also furious, and as soon as he opened his mouth, he couldn't stop his verbal attack. "Emily, do you know you're a married woman..."

Before Michael could finish, Emily cut him off, "Yes, I'm a married woman, seducing men, disgracing the family, and bringing shame to the Smith family, right?"

"Can't you come up with something new?"

"Aren't you tired of saying the same things over and over? I'm tired of hearing them!"

"And Michael, if you replace me so detestable and think I'm a burden to the Smith family, why don't you just divorce me? We can go our separate ways and never see each other again!" Emily snapped.

That was her most genuine thought at the moment. After the divorce, she planned to take the kid and live in seclusion until Isabella recovered, then the three of them would leave far away.

But Michael was acting like he had a screw loose. He was the one who wanted a divorce, yet he was the one shouting that he wouldn't let her go!

Emily nearly wished she could drag him downstairs to see a neurologist!

"This is not an excuse for meeting another man in private!" Michael shot back. "Emily, if you really want a divorce, don't test my limits! Obey me!"

He moved closer to her, his eyes burning with intensity, as if he wanted to devour her.

Just then, the food both Andrew and Emily ordered arrived at the same time. Michael realized Emily hadn't eaten yet, and that dish... it seemed to be an accident.

No wonder Emily, who had been nauseous all morning, suddenly had an appetite and was in a good mood.

When he first entered, Michael smelled it; the whole room was filled with a sweet and sour aroma. That Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings seemed really good. It must have been brought by that Daniel. Knowing Emily had no appetite and sending Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings, he really knew how to hit the mark!

He knew Daniel had bad intentions, but fortunately, he arrived in time.

Thinking of this, Michael breathed a sigh of relief.

As his subordinates set the table, he turned to Emily again. "These are some appetizing dishes I prepared for you. You can eat them."

But looking at the table full of dishes, Emily's mood didn't improve at all. She just felt that Michael was ordering her around, and she was like a bird he kept.

Once the irrelevant subordinates left, Emily spoke sarcastically again. "You think I'll eat just because you let me? Michael, don't take yourself too seriously." Michael got angry too. "Will you eat or not?"

The two of them started a full-blown argument.

"I'm not eating!" Emily refused.

"You eat a dish Daniel brings you, but you won't eat what I prepared. Does that make any sense?" Michael said angrily.

"How can you compare the two of you?"

"Why not?"

"Michael, you're being unreasonable!"

"Emily, you're ungrateful!"

Emily always stood up for those she cared about, and she was very grateful to Daniel for Isabella's treatment. How could she stand Michael's baseless accusations against Daniel? "Michael, who's ungrateful? This is a society governed by law. Do you really think you can control me just because you want to?"

She continued, "I'm giving you two choices now: either take your food and leave, or I'll ring the bell for the nurse, tell them you're disturbing my rest, and have security throw you out!" "This hospital isn't the Smith family's private property. Your domineering persona doesn't work here!"

In the end, after several rounds of back-and-forth, Emily narrowly won. It seemed that the Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings had restored her energy and vitality.

As for Michael, he came in with a bright face and left with a gloomy one, his stomach growling with hunger. What CEO could stand such humiliation?

Seeing this, even Andrew felt a bit sorry for him.

"Mr. Smith, how about we go to the new seafood restaurant across from the hospital?" Andrew suggested.

"No appetite," Michael refused.

"Maybe the new Mexican place across from the office would be good," Andrew continued.

Michael refused again.

"Then how about we go to your favorite restaurant? I can make a reservation right now..."

Before Andrew could finish, Michael, sitting in the back seat, let out a long sigh and responded in a low voice, "If you say one more word, your bonus for this month is gone." With that, the car fell silent, and the atmosphere became tense.
