Chapter 151
"What the heck is this all about? Didn't the bigwigs say they'd investigate this thoroughly?"
Karen was so furious that her eyes nearly popped out. She looked like she could eat someone alive.
In contrast to her rage, Dorothy didn't utter a word. She was simply staring hard at the screen.
He had promised to clear things up and vindicate her.
"Dorothy, don't freak me out. Say something!" Karen thought Dorothy was livid. She grabbed Dorothy's hand, only to replace it trembling slightly.
She had never seen the usually composed Dorothy like this before.
"I'm okay." After a long pause, Dorothy forced a smile at Karen.
"Don’t be stubborn! We'll confront the company tomorrow. I'll go with you! Damn it, who do they think they are to decide the culprit was you?"
"Stay out of this." Dorothy said slowly, "You worked hard to get into the Lopez Corporation. Don't get dragged down because of me."
"What are you talking about? You think I'm scared?"
"Karen, I appreciate your concern. That's all I need from you."
Dorothy realized that the situation was no longer a simple feud between her and Heather. She had stirred up the chairman of the Lopez Corporation.
Even Everett might not be able to fix this.
Getting a job at the Lopez Corporation was a big deal for Karen. Dorothy didn't want Karen to get kicked out of the corporation because of her.
"Dorothy..."
"That's settled, then. You should go to work as usual; don't make a scene at the office, and don't argue with Mr. Percy."
"And what about you? Are you just gonna let them frame you?"
"No." Dorothy smiled.
She could put up with the usual office injustices, but this time, Heather wanted to kick her out of the industry for good and take her livelihood away. If she just sat back and did nothing, wouldn't she be a fool?
Lumina Bay, branch office conference room.
Due to the special nature of this project, everyone attending the meeting was a high-ranking official or key personnel.
Kevin was the only one at the secretary level. His presence was tolerated because he was there with Everett.
"The confidentiality of this development project is crucial. I hope everyone can abide by the contract terms and respect each other's achievements."
Jacob, the recently returned CEO of the branch at Lumina Bay, emphasized this after signing the contract.
Kevin knew he was referring to the Lopez Corporation's alleged leak of core information and was making a point.
He frowned and was about to retort when Everett caught his eye and signaled him to let it go.
After the meeting ended and everyone left, Everett grabbed his suit jacket from the back of his chair and headed straight to the airport.
Kevin followed closely. "Mr. Lopez, why didn't you let me say something?"
"Arguing in the meeting would have been pointless and would have delayed my return to Eldorria City."
His priority was to get back and support Dorothy.
"I'm just worried that Jacob might spread rumors."
"He wouldn't dare." Everett's lips moved slightly, suggesting he had everything under control.
Jacob was necessary for now because he held crucial technology. Lumina Bay branch needed his support.
But this wouldn't last long.
The Lopez Corporation wouldn't have achieved what it had today if it were all talk and no action.
"Mr. Lopez, look at the official website!"
Suddenly, Kevin raised his voice.
