Chapter 152
Everett froze in his tracks, speechless. He took Kevin's phone and looked at it.
The announcement was glaringly obvious. It was worded assertively and stabbed at his heart like a knife.
"Mr. Lopez, this..."
"Get in touch with our official website moderators. Have this announcement removed immediately." He knew Dorothy must have seen it by now.
After all this time, she hadn't contacted him. All the trust he had painstakingly built was now probably gone.
Trouble seemed to follow trouble.
Everett realized he had to deal with the Heather issue once and for all.
He boarded the next flight to the airport. On the way, he tried calling Dorothy, but she never answered.
After some hesitation, Everett decided against sending her a text message.
The current situation suggested his mother had probably roped his father in too. She seemed hell-bent on making Heather his wife at all costs.
Although he didn't know why, there must be some deeper reason.
Everett had always thought his mother wanted him to marry Heather simply because she liked her. But given the current circumstances, there seemed to be another reason.
Her reckless behavior today was clearly aimed at forcing him to agree to the marriage. If she merely liked Heather, she wouldn't go to such extremes. "Mr. Lopez, do you want me to call Dorothy and explain? The announcement wasn't made by you."
"No need. I'll see her when I get back."
He knew this wasn't something that could be explained away with a few words.
What he would have to face was probably not as simple as he initially thought.
Kevin nodded and sat quietly, not daring to say anything more.
In all the years he had been with Mr. Lopez, he had rarely seen Everett in such a gloomy mood. His lips were tightly sealed, so he gave off a distinct "stay away" vibe.
Finally, they reached the airport.
As Everett strode towards the entrance, his phone rang.
He immediately looked at the screen, but unfortunately, it wasn't the number he was hoping for.
Even though he knew Dorothy's personality and that she wouldn't call him first, he felt a bit disappointed to see that it wasn't her.
Everett answered the call, speaking in a heavy voice, "Father."
"The situation at Lumina Bay isn't completely resolved yet. Why are you in a rush to return to Eldorria City?"
It was Everett's father, Jonathan Lopez. His voice and tone were harsh. It was a question, but the answer was clear to both of them.
"I won't fire Dorothy."
"Are you out of your mind? You're disregarding even your mother for a woman?" Jonathan raised his voice. It was a rare occurrence for him to rebuke his son, whom he had always been proud of.
"She's being framed. The Lopez Corporation will not wrong any employee. I will get to the bottom of this."
"There's nothing to investigate. I've made the decision for you. Since you're on your way back to Eldorria City, you better go apologize to your mother in the hospital and agree to marry Heather."
Everett frowned. "I won't marry her."
"Do you want your mother to die? She's already in the hospital! Are you waiting for her to be in the coffin?" Jonathan paused for a moment and finally softened his tone. "Everett, I'm a man. I understand you're young and hot-blooded. Having a crush is normal, but you need to understand your status. There are things that you should and shouldn't do."
"Is marrying Heather something I should do?"
"Yes! If you really like this Dorothy, you can see her privately. I can turn a blind eye."
