The CEO’S Unplanned Heir novel (Aurelia and Leopold) -
Chapter 394
Chapter 394
In the shadowy corner outside the hospital room, Leopold stood there for ages as if his shadow wasabout to meld with the cold and sterile floor.
His heart clenched when he saw the slender figure of a woman slip out of the room. He thoughtabout her every day, to the point his heart ached. He worried about her constantly, losing hisappetite and replaceing sleep elusive.
Almost instinctively, he moved a foot forward, wanting to rush to her side and pull her into hisembrace. However, the thought of her still being sick and the bacteria still coursing through hermade his steps feel like lead. He sucked in a pained breath and retreated.
Had she read the divorce papers? Was she hating or blaming him? He couldn“t explain himself, fearing the truth would lead her to refuse her treatment or make a rash decision, just like she didthree years ago.
Fear gripped him. He was afraid of losing her and having the thought of her dying. He couldn'tendure losing her again. He'd lost her once, and he wasn't sure he could survive a second time. Hewas on the brink of insanity, of complete collapse.
So, he couldn't risk it. He must ensure everything was foolproof. Aurelia’s health and life were moreimportant than anything else. He would wait until the expert team developed the bacteriophageand antibiotics before revealing the truth to her.
Even if she misunderstood him, even if she hated him, he would bear it.
Aurelia turned her head. A familiar figure flashed by in the distance. She jolted, wanting to chaseafter it, but she held herself back.
It must be her imagination playing tricks on her. Why would Leopold be here? He was divorcingher.
Once she got into her car, she checked her phone and quickly saw the news of Leopold gettingengaged to another woman. During her time in the hospital, he had rekindled his relationship withMegan. “He was still in love with Megan, after all. The first love, always holding a superior place inhis heart, irreplaceable by anyone. Once his first love returned, I became less appealing, so it wastime for me to leave.” Aurelia thought.
Irony twisted in her gut. It felt as though a venomous snake was slithering up
her spine, coiling around her heart, its fangs sinking deep into her flesh, causing unbearable pain.If she had never hoped, she wouldn't have been so disappointed. But she once had hope. She'dtried to protect her heart and not to offer it to him so easily. But every time he showed heraffection, she couldn't help but hope for their marriage and give a piece of her heart to him.She was too naive and innocent to compete with his cunning and charm.

When she got home, William ran over and hugged her tightly. “Mommy, you're back!! missed youso much.”
Chirpy, her pet bird, flew over and perched on her shoulder. “Mommy's back! Mommy's back!”Aurelia kissed her son's delicate face and stroked Chirpy’s fluffy head. It loved being petted likethat.
Arnold was in the kitchen cooking. Seeing her, he brought her nourishing soup. “Aurelia, have somesoup first. It will help you recover.”
“Thank you, Arnold. But I need to use the bathroom first.”
Aurelia had no appetite. Her heart felt heavy. All she wanted to do then was replace a place to cry herheart out.
In the bathroom, she turned on the faucet and covered her face, breaking into unrestrained sobs. Her tears flowed like a broken dam, carrying all the grievances, resentment, and sorrow in her heart. After a long while, she bit her lip, a determined look flashing in her
eyes.
The moment she stepped out of the bathroom, she regained her calmness, not wanting her familyto see her in such a mess.
Avery pulled her into a hug, “Aurelia, come have dinner. Arno made all your favorite dishes today.”Chapter 395
