Chapter 395

Aurelia tugged at the corners of her stiff mouth, managing to force a smile.

Why should she shed tears for a fickle and heartless man? It was not worth it!

Seated at the dinner table, she tasted the chicken soup.

“Is it good?” Arnold, with adoring eyes, asked. He had visited her in the hospital every day, his heartfull of concern and compassion.

She nodded. “Yeah, it's good.”

Arnold dished out a piece of chicken for her. “You've lost much weight. Take some time torecuperate at home.”

Aurelia took a bite of the chicken and then put down her fork, her expression turning solemn.“Leopold wants to divorce me and marry Megan. You all know about it, don't you?”

Such big news had already spread throughout the social circles. It was impossible for Aurelia’sparents and Avery not to know.

As soon as she finished speaking, an eerie silence enveloped the dinner table, the four peopleexchanging glances.

“When we found out, we too were shocked. I can't understand how Leopold could change like this,”Jolin sighed.

“Maybe it's an old flame that never dies? After all, Megan was his first love,” Arnold suggested. Eachword felt like a stab in Aurelia’s heart, tearing it to shreds.

She gritted her teeth, a surge of resentment welling up in her chest.

“I've made up my mind. I am not divorcing Leopold! When I wanted a divorce, he was stubbornlyagainst it. Now, he can't just have his way. According to the Stirling family rules, the head of thefamily can’t divorce without good reasons. A prerequisite is that I must have committed a majorwrongdoing. Even then, we must first hold a family meeting, get approval from two-thirds of themembers, followed by a six-month cooling-off period.” She uttered these words with a finality thatbrooked no argument.

"Aurelia, have you...

fallen in love with Leopold?” Arnold asked, a tremor in his voice. Aurelia scoffed. “No way! Howcould I fall in love with such a heartless and fickle jerk? 1 am doing this for Kane. Megan will nevertreat Kane well, so I have to stay in the Stirling family to protect Kane. No one is allowed to lay afinger on my son.”

Arnold fell silent. He couldn't dispute this as he himself had experienced the brutal and dangerousbattles within the elite circles.

He had planned to take her back to Goldstone after her divorce, far away from Leopold,

but it seemed unlikely then. Aurelia would never abandon Kane, especially when Megan was athreat.

"Aurelia, whatever decision you make, I will stand by you, fully support you, and help you.”

Even though he longed for her to be back together with him, he didn’t want her to be upset. Nomatter what she decided, he would support her unconditionally because he loved her with all hisheart and soul and would do anything for her.

Aurelia felt deeply moved. “Thank you, Arnold, for always being there for me.”

“I will never leave you,” Arnold replied solemnly, every word spoken with sincerity.

Jolin sighed inwardly, feeling a heavy burden for her daughter's rocky marriage.

She had thought Leopold was a good son-in-law, but he had changed his heart so quickly.

The next day, when Aurelia arrived at the office, she could sense an unusual atmosphere.

In her absence, Megan had practically spent every day in the CEO's office as if she was eager to leteveryone at Astral Enterprises know that she was to replace Aurelia as the CEO's wife.

When Aurelia entered the CEO's office, the secretaries outside exchanged strange looks.

Standing in front of Leopold, Aurelia maintained her composure and asked, “I heard you wanted todivorce me?”

Leopold's heart was writhing in pain, unable to beat normally. He struggled to stay calm, not lettingany sign of his inner turmoil show.

“Isn't this what you've always wanted? Now that I've agreed and made your wish come. true, youshould be happy,” he said.
