The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles) -
Chapter 672
"Nothing impossible about that unless the picture here is a fake." Xavier had nowhere to release all his pent-up anger. He had never imagined Winter and Charles would get entangled with each other like that. The other day, Winter mentioned that since she would be there to put in a good word for him, there would be plenty of collaboration opportunities between Frotconn and Collosus Group. However, if Winter's so-called way of putting in a good word was as the newspapers described it, wouldn't that make him a fool who had been cheated on? "Winter Shaw, I never thought you would treat me this way!"
"It's not like that, Xavier. You have to trust me. Don't take things the wrong way. My relationship with Charles is not what it seems, and I don't have any feelings for him. I merely think of him as a senior, and this is just an interaction between a junior and their senior..." "Enough!" Xavier said as he flung Winter's hand away impatiently. "Look at how you're looking at Charles. Could the look in your eyes be fooling anyone? Winter Shaw, I'd never imagined you to have such feelings toward Charles. What else do you have to say now that everything's out in the open?"
Xavier flung the covers off himself and got out of bed, a frosty look in his eyes as he stared at Winter while hurriedly getting dressed. Winter felt like her heart was squeezing itself as tears brimmed in her eyes, making her look like she was about to burst into tears any minute now. She got out of bed as well and grabbed Xavier's arm. "Please don't be angry, Xavier. There must be some misunderstanding. You have to trust me. I'll get someone to sort things out immediately, Xavier. You..."
"Enough. If it really is a misunderstanding, you can come talk to me when you've sorted things out," Xavier said as he sneered. "I can't believe I used to feel guilty toward you. I took you on a trip. I never expected you to treat me this way."
Xavier did not pay Winter any more attention and left the room to head downstairs the minute he finished getting dressed.
They had traveled to Cascade City this time round because they wanted to go on a relaxing holiday and because Xavier had a business deal to negotiate here.
Winter had spoken with so much conviction the other day, and Joseph Harris was extremely fond of Winter, which was why he had ordered Xavier to take Winter on a trip. Additionally, Xavier had agreed to take her out to relax and clear her mind because he felt he had been neglecting her recently.
Xavier's secretary caught up with him soon after he arrived downstairs. "Mr. Xavier, where are you going now?"
"I'm going to get breakfast and then check out the venue."
"Then... What about your wife?" The secretary had obviously read the news as well and thus asked hesitantly, "Should I arrange today's itinerary for her?"
A frosty expression appeared on Xavier's face as he swept his gaze over the secretary coolly. "Are you my secretary or hers?"
The secretary immediately fell silent.
"Alright, then Please get into the car, Mr. Xavier," the secretary added as they opened the door for Xavier. Once he got in, they walked toward the driver's side of the car and got in themselves without mentioning Winter's name even once again.
Winter watched as Xavier left. She wanted to run after him, but her current identity and the news that had just been released left her afraid to come and go as she desired.
Winter hurriedly got dressed and then frantically dialed Suzy's number.
Suzy was at the Atherthon estate having breakfast with her parents when she received Winter's call. A spark appeared in her eyes as the corner of her lips curled upward into a mocking grin. "Hello? Winter, how are you? Have you enjoyed the past two days with your husband in Cascade City?"
"How could I be enjoying myself, Suzy? I'm screwed," Winter said, close to tears. "You have to help me come up with a plan."
"Don't panic. What's the matter? Did
you get into an argument with
Xavier?" Suzy asked. The two elderly Athertons turned to look at Suzy, who gestured at them to remain quiet as she left the dining room to sit down in the living room, her phone pressed to her ear. "Don't panic, and tell me what's going on. What on earth happened?"
