The Day I Kissed An Older Man -
Chapter 2380
While watching Melody happily enjoy the chicken soup, Beatrice could not help but advise again. "Melody, why don't you come back home with me? I can't bear to see you living alone here, especially in such a small dormitory. You have to rely on your friends to buy food for you every day. It's not as convenient as having Lynette prepare meals for you at home, where you can have whatever you want..." Melody paused, then she looked up and smiled. "Grandma, it's fine, really. I replace it convenient here."
In fact, the dormitory provided by the production crew was not small at all. It had three bedrooms, a living room, two bathrooms, and a kitchen. Melody did not really need such a large space, but compared to the Riveras' mansion, it was significantly smaller.
Thus, it was understandable that Beatrice looked down on the place. It just did not sit right with her; seeing Melody living in such a small room, she felt it was beneath her.
Beatrice knew Melody would not agree. Her eyes were filled with disappointment.
"Melody, be honest with me. Is there something going on between you and Lucas? I know you're both grown-ups now, and there are many things you may not want to tell us. But, Melody, no matter how old you get, we'll always worry about you. Even if you don't tell me, I'll still overthink. So it's better to just come clean with me."
Melody hesitated, unsure how to broach the subject. After a long while, she gathered her courage and asked Beatrice, "Grandma, have you ever considered that perhaps Miss Thalia might be more suitable to be your granddaughter-in-law than me?"
Beatrice's expression changed instantly. "Melody, where is this coming from? Why would you suddenly think like that?"
Despite the sinking feeling in her heart, Beatrice did not show it on her face.
Sure enough, Melody's unusual behavior was related to Thalia. Beatrice had long wanted to send that troublemaker away, but because of Lucas' strong attachment to her, she had not been able to do so yet. 'Now it seems that it would've been better if I had intervened earlier rather than letting Melody suffer like this,' Beatrice thought to herself.
Melody's voice could not hide her disappointment. She shook her head. "Grandma, it doesn't matter where this is coming from. It's how I feel. I can't help but think that perhaps Lucas and I got married too quickly, as we've only known each other for a short time. Miss Thalia obviously understands Lucas better. They complement each other in terms of talents and looks, whereas I..."
Melody could not continue. With a bitter smile, she quickly lowered her head, afraid to give anything away.
Beatrice sighed. She understood what Melody was saying, but love was not measured by how long a couple had known each other.
"Melody, I understand that Thalia's presence has caused you to question your trust in Lucas. But I want to tell you one thing, love is never measured this way. Either you have it, or you don't. If Lucas and Thalia truly had deeper feelings for each other, why weren't they together before you came into the picture? There must have been something missing, which is why they could only be friends.
"I'm saying all this with a selfish motive. I hope that you'll continue to be my granddaughter-in-law, and I've already set my heart on you. Everyone else is just passing clouds. Melody, if you still have even the slightest liking for Lucas, I hope you'll put in a little more effort for him. Give him some more time. My husband and I watched him grow up, and we both know he's always had trouble conveying his feelings."
