"This is also our fault. He had always been more antisocial compared to the children growing up in other healthy families. I've even wondered if he cannot love, but he's always been good to me and my husband. Now, it seems he might have difficulty realizing whom he truly loves. Melody, you must trust my judgment as the third party. I won't force you to be with Lucas if he doesn't have feelings for you," Beatrice admitted.

Melody felt even sadder after listening to Beatrice. She and Lucas had put on so many acts in front of her and Cedric, never expecting them to take it seriously. The more she heard Beatrice speak, the sadder she felt, realizing that perhaps Lucas really did not love her at all.

"Grandma, I understand what you mean. You and Grandpa have been so kind to me. I'm truly touched by the love you've shown me, which is even more than what I've experienced from my own parents! Even if Lucas and I part ways in the future, I'll definitely come back to visit you often."

What Melody said startled Beatrice, and she immediately grabbed Melody's wrist. "Melody, don't say such things. Did something happen recently? I've already asked you many times, but if you truly don't want to tell me, then I won't ask anymore. But you have to at least let me know what's going on between you and Lucas. There must be a reason why you are separating, right?" she interjected.

Melody did not want the elderly lady to keep guessing, so she explained the incident with Thalia and the intimate photo of her and Lucas. Beatrice's eyebrows furrowed tighter and tighter as she listened. "Feelings cannot be forced, and I think Lucas likes Miss Thalia. It's best for everyone if I voluntarily step back. I don't want to be that insensitive person," Melody concluded.

Beatrice felt a deep sense of heartache. It turned out that her suspicions about Thalia sneaking into Lucas's study last time were not unfounded. She had indeed gone there to secretly take those intimate photos!

At the time, she had not caught Thalia in the act, and it would be difficult to replace evidence since some time had already passed.

"Melody, I'm just going to ask you two questions. Do you believe in Lucas? Do you think he's the kind of person who would do such cheesy things?" asked Beatrice.

Melody's mouth opened slightly, and she already knew the answer. They had signed a contract between them, so it was unlikely that he would betray her before it expired.

"I am Lucas' grandmother, so I might be biased, but I know him best. He's definitely not the kind to cheat on his wife. When you weren't home, he barely stayed in the bedroom. He only returned once when he went to sleep. That night, I went to the study and found him sleeping there, which I found a bit odd. Most importantly, Thalia was there too.

"Lucas was sleeping on the couch, so what was Thalia doing there? She must've had some ulterior motive! I'm not sure if she took the opportunity to snap a photo of them together, but it definitely wasn't normal for her to be there. I just didn't realize anything was amiss at that time. Now, looking back, the trouble must've started from then."

Beatrice was certain of her speculation.
