THE DEVIL HERSELF -
Chapter 25
Scarlet stepped out of the hospital, her hand trembling as she dialed Lord Smith's number, this is the first time her hands has ever trembled like that after she found out that her brother was alive. The moon had dipped below the horizon, casting a somber light on the streets which was quiet and peaceful. She could hear the distant hum of ambulances and the occasional shout from the family members of the patient, but her mind was entirely focused on the call. As the phone rang, she took a deep breath, steeling herself for the conversation ahead.
"Scarlet?" Lord Smith's voice was calm but held a hint of urgency.
"Lord Smith, it's me," Scarlet replied, her voice steady despite the turmoil within. "We have a situation. It's about Lucas. He's alive and we lost Lyric today"
There was a pause on the other end of the line. "Alive? Are you certain? And how .... I mean what do you mean by losing Lyric?"
"Yes. He showed up at Graceland Hospital. He was enslaved by Santiago all these years. And Lyric was poisoned during the war with the Slayers Clan"
Lord Smith didn't hesitate. "I'll book the next flight to Italy from Atlanta. Stay with him and his sisters, keep them safe."
Scarlet nodded, even though he couldn't see her. "I will. I've already sent a message to Arizona. She's bringing him to the hospital."
"Good. I'll be there as soon as I can." The call ended, and Scarlet stared at her phone for a moment, collecting her thoughts before heading back inside.
Inside the hospital, the air was thick with tension. Lucas, with his disheveled hair and haunted eyes, stood just inside the entrance. Lotus and Lucky were frozen in place, their eyes wide with shock. "Lucas?" Lotus whispered, her voice trembling. "Is it really you?"
"Yes," Lucas replied, his voice cracking. "It's me. I survived that night, but Santiago... he made me his slave."
Lucky's eyes narrowed, her fists clenching at her sides. "If we could bring him back from the dead just to kill him again, we would," she hissed.
Lucas nodded, understanding their rage. "Where is Lyric? I need to see her."
The room fell silent. Lotus and Lucky exchanged a pained glance before Lotus spoke, her voice barely above a whisper. "Lyric is dead, Lucas. She's gone."
Lucas felt as if the ground had been ripped out from under him. "No... no, she can't be." He collapsed to his knees, tears streaming down his face. "I haven't seen her in eight years, and now she's... she's gone?"
Scarlet knelt beside him, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "We're all hurting, Lucas. But we need to stay strong. Lord Smith is on his way. We should head back to the Clan and wait for him."
The group slowly made their way out of the hospital, the weight of their grief palpable. The ride back to the Clan's stronghold was silent, each lost in their thoughts. As they arrived, the familiar surroundings did little to alleviate their pain. Inside the main hall, Arizona was waiting. She rushed to Lucas, wrapping him in a tight embrace. "I'm so sorry, Lucas," she whispered.
Lucas nodded, his tears soaking into her shoulder. "I just can't believe she's gone."
"We'll get through this together," Arizona said softly. She led him to a nearby chair, guiding him to sit.
The others gathered around, their expressions a mixture of sorrow and determination. Scarlet stood at the head of the room, her eyes scanning the faces of her family.
"We've been through hell and back," she began, her voice strong despite the sadness in her eyes. "But we're still standing. We need to stay united, for Lyric, for Lucas, and for ourselves."
Lotus stepped forward, her eyes fierce. "Santiago will pay for what he's done. We'll make sure of it if only I can bring him back from dead...."
Lucky nodded in agreement. "We owe it to Lyric to see this through. But I will make sure that he's family members or children if he has any will pay the price"
Scarlet took a deep breath. "Lord Smith will be here soon. Until then, we need to gather our strength and prepare. This isn't over."
The room fell into a determined silence as each member of the Clan reflected on their next steps. Despite their grief, there was a newfound resolve in their hearts.
Lucas sat quietly, his mind racing. The loss of Lyric was a wound that would never fully heal, but being reunited with his family, seeing their strength and determination, gave him a glimmer of hope. He knew they would need every ounce of it in the days to come.

They have all returned to the Clan awaiting for Smith to arrive.
Hours passed, and the tension in the air grew thicker. Scarlet paced the floor, her mind whirling with plans and strategies. Finally, the door opened, and Lord Smith stepped in, his presence commanding immediate attention. "Lord Smith," Rachel greeted him, relief washing over her while Scarlet just rolled her eyes from where she was sitting
He nodded, his eyes scanning the room, taking in the somber expressions and the palpable grief. "I came as quickly as I could. Lucas," he said, turning to the young man, "it's good to see you again, despite the circumstances. Losing my baby heart is not as easy as it i think. It hurts alot"
Lucas stood, wiping his eyes. "I never thought I'd see any of you again. Thank you for coming. I know but it's fine and will get through this together"
Lord Smith placed a hand on Lucas's shoulder. "We're family. We face everything together."
The Clan gathered around as Lord Smith began to outline their next steps. "First, we need to secure our location. Santiago was working for the Hunters Clan before his death. I found out about this during my trip to Atlanta. Hunters Clan are one of the most dangerous Clans in Russia and he went to them for powers and fame that's why he was given that poison to kill Scarlet but Lyric misunderstood it for Lucky and got killed instead. So our target is now that Hunters Clan " Arizona nodded. "I've already started reinforcing our defenses. We'll be ready."
"Good," Lord Smith replied. "Next, we need to gather intelligence. We need to know The Hunters movements, his plans. We can't let him catch us off guard."
Scarlet stepped forward. "I've been in contact with some of our allies. They're willing to help. We'll have eyes and ears everywhere."
"Excellent," Lord Smith said. "And finally, we need to stay united. Hunters Clan thrives on division and chaos. If we let them drive a wedge between us, we've already lost." Lotus, Lucky, and Lucas nodded in agreement. Despite their individual pain, they knew the strength of their family lay in their unity.

As the night wore on, plans were made, strategies discussed, and the Clan slowly began to feel a sense of purpose amidst their grief. They knew the road ahead would be long and fraught with danger, but they were determined to face it together.
In the quiet moments, Lucas found himself sitting alone, staring at the night sky through a small window. The stars twinkled faintly, offering a distant sense of hope. He thought of Lyric, of the times they had shared, and the future they had been robbed of. But he also thought of his family, of their strength and resilience.
Scarlet approached, sitting beside him. "You okay?" she asked gently.
Lucas nodded slowly. "I will be. It's just... a lot to take in."
She placed a comforting hand on his. "We'll get through this. Together."
He managed a small smile. "Thank you, Scarlet. For everything."
She nodded, looking up at the stars. "We're family. And family never gives up."
As dawn began to break, casting a new light over the Clan's stronghold, the members felt a renewed sense of determination since no of them could sleep after hearing about the death. Lyric will be buried today and it's going to be more heartbreaking than ever.
In as much as the girls doesn't want to cry but teats just replaces it's way out of their eyes. The memories they shared just flowed through their memories making things more difficult for them. Lyric was just 18 years old and she hasn't even gotten a boy friend yet and she's gone.
Chance hasn't been himself every since he heard the news. He knew he ignored the feelings Lyric had for him but he never said he didn't like her just that he's trying not to make it looks as if he's taking advantage of a small girl. Elias walked into his room with a tray of food. It's 10am already and her burial is by 3pm.
" Everyone has eaten, so you're next" Elias said dropping the food besides him.
"Am not hungry because I don't even know if she has eaten where she is? I don't know if she's comfortable or not? She didn't wait to turn 19 so I can tell her that I like infact loved her. Why???". He cried bitterly.
Elias just hugged and let him cry his heart out. It's not easy to lose a love one, he also felt like that when he thought he lost his sister and mom but he's sister is here but his mom is gone for ever. It's heart bleeding.
