Chapter 70
“You’re Mr. Jensen, right? I’ll leave it to you, then.”
“Don’t mention it, Ms. Swanson. Just call me Andrew!”
“Okay, Andrew. Do you have a place to live? If you don’t…”
“Don’t worry, Ms. Swanson. I do have a place to live. If you need anything from me, just let me know! This is my phone number. You can save it in your new phone, and I’ll be on standby 24 hours a day for you, Ms. Swanson!”
Aurelia was a little stunned. She knew that since Jacob had arranged for Andrew to assist her, she would not have to worry about these things.
However, he didn’t expect that the arrangement was so serious and Andrew was even instructed to be on standby the whole. day.
Nevertheless, she also knew that even if she said that there was no need to be on standby the entire time, Andrew wouldn’t really listen to her, so she simply didn’t say anything.
She then simply nodded and said, “Okay. Wait for me here at eight o’clock in the morning tomorrow. I’ll tell you where to go later!”
“Okay, Ms. Swanson!”
Andrew nodded respectfully, but his standing posture didn’t move at all. She just looked at her calmly.
It took Aurelia a while before she realized that Andrew was waiting for her to turn around and enter the hotel.
She couldn’t help but hesitate. Holding the bag in her hand, Aurelia turned around and walked into the entrance of the hotel. It was not until she entered the elevator that she saw Andrew opening the driver’s seat through the gap between the elevator doors before it closed.
She thought she would not sleep well, but she didn’t expect to have a dreamless sleep all night.
The next morning, the hotel receptionist woke her up on time at 6:45 a.m. through a phone call.
Aurelia got up from bed, pulled back the curtains, and began several yoga movements that she practiced all year long in front of the floor–to–ceiling window to arouse the vitality needed by her body entirely.
This was her good habit of self–exercise when she studied in Friyx in her previous life.
After so many years, she had been persistent in her usual yoga routine. Even when she was on her monthly period, there wouldn’t be any interruptions in her daily exercise as well.
Thus, such self–discipline had indeed achieved remarkable results for her. This has been reflected in the way she maintained her figure, her shape, and her flexibility.
After twenty minutes of yoga practice, Aurelia felt completely refreshed.
She then walked into the bathroom casually, washed her face and teeth, and finally changed her clothes.
At half past seven, Aurelia had already sat in the hotel’s restaurant and started her breakfast.
Milk, sandwiches, and a small plate of salad were her breakfast meal for the day.
She sat quietly by the window, enjoying her breakfast elegantly and calmly. However, She didn’t know that she had become a beautiful scenery in others‘ eyes.
By 7:50 a.m., she went back to her room, picked up her bag, and entered the elevator.
Andrew, who was punctual as she was, had already the Mulliner 728 parked in front of the hotel’s entrance.
As soon as the black luxury car stopped, it attracted many jealous and envious gazes.
Especially when Aurelia came out of the hotel lobby, Andrew got off quickly and opened the rear door for her. The envious

stares made Aurelia feel secretly annoyed.
“Why did I forget to tell Andrew to park his car in the underground parking lot?” she thought to herself.
While she wanted to keep a low profile, she ended up attracting more attention instead.
When Aurelia had sat down inside the car, Andrew shut the door and slowly drove out of the hotel’s parking lane.
Aurelia lowered the opaque bulletproof glass partition between the driver’s seat and the back seat and said in a cold voice, “Go to Peace Road, Unit 8!”
Since Andrew was familiar with the roads of Xandenia, Nuthana, even though Aurelia had only mentioned the address, he took no detours and arrived at Peace Road, Unit 8 smoothly.
The place was not a government residential quarter for Nuthana public officials, but an office of Navarre in Nuthana.
Before coming here, Michael had already ordered his closest aide, who was the director of this office, to prepare some local specialties and gifts.
The gifts were all arranged in advance according to the preferences of the supervisors. Though the gifts might not be valuable, they showed their sincerity nonetheless.
There was no reason for them to visit the supervisors empty–handed, regardless of whether they were close to them.
Aurelia sat in the car and made a phone call. It wasn’t that she was reluctant to get out of the car, but rather that the car was simply too eye–catching.
As this was a county office in Nuthana, it would cause quite a bit of gossip if someone had seen her get off the car suddenly.
Hence, she just sat in the car and asked Andrew to take care of it.
Even though Aurelia didn’t get out of the car, she was unaware of the rumor that she and Michael had a backer in Nuthana had spread within the political scene in Navarre shortly after her car left the office.
After all, there had never been a lack of shrewd and knowledgeable people these days.
The Mulliner 728 with a black license plate had already been spotted upstairs by others when it stopped at the square in front
of the office.
Some who had seen or heard quite a lot within the Nuthana’s circles could tell at a glance that the car was quite an extraordinary one. It wouldn’t be difficult for them to replace out who owned the car if they asked around for a bit.
In particular, the name of the person who sparked the most excitement in them was Jacob.
Jacob’s name was known to everyone in Nuthana’s political scene.
He was the son of Nuthana’s speaker, State Governor Miller. Furthermore, Jacob was his only child as well.
It was clear how powerful and prominent Jacob’s identity was.
And now, the car, which was so rare for them to witness in person, was actually parked in front of the Navarre’s office of
Nuthana.
It was only after some asking around that they learned Michael had sent someone to collect some local specialties and gifts. Such actions made it obvious what was going on.
Many of them gasped immediately upon discovering what had happened.
“Damn! Deputy Sheriff Swanson was hiding so much!”
Regardless of who was in the car, if Jacob was willing to lend Michael his car out of favor, it was evident that they could not compete with Michael’s formidable capability.
“Damn it!”
A few days ago, there were people who took the chance to add insult to injury, and gloated that Michael was about to be unlucky soon. But now, they only felt chills running down their spine.

They began to wonder if it was too late to turn around and flatter Michael again.
Meanwhile, some people who had offended Michael even cursed inwardly, “You should’ve told us that you know Mr. Miller! Even if you wanted to keep a low profile, reluctant to expose your relationship with him, why can’t you just give us a little hint? We wouldn’t have gone against you so blindly if you had just given us any hint of it! Well, now that we’ve offended you badly, you brought out an influential figure like Mr. Miller into the picture. This is practically cheating!”
However, the happiest person would be the director of the office, as he was Michael’s closest aide.
Ever since Michael was transferred to the Senate, the staff in the office thought that the director would lose his power along with Michael. As a result, they began to not treat him as their supervisor and started disobeying his orders as well.
Eventually, once Jacob’s car suddenly appeared, the director knew the grievances he had suffered these days were over.
Even his posture seemed more confident and delighted than usual.
Michael, his supervisor, was considerate enough to make this all possible. Knowing that he had suffered a lot in Nuthana recently, Michael had deliberately sent Aurelia to give him support.
Only he knew who was sitting inside the car. Before going out to deliver the gifts, the director had clearly received a phone call from Aurelia.
“Hehe! I’m curious to see who else will mock and ridicule Deputy Sheriff Swanson for losing his power!” the director sneered
inwardly.
Aurelia had no clue that taking the car to the office and staying there for a short while would cause a storm within Navarre’s political scene.
Even though she was aware that the car was extraordinary, she wasn’t an official.
Her sophistication, shrewdness, wisdom, and experience were all remembered through lessons learned from her second. chance at life, and not because she had figured out the facets of the political scene.
Thus, she didn’t fully understand how tempting the word “power” was for many senior officials.
She never realized how flattering it would be for someone who was eager to jump on and cling to power desperately once they discovered that authority and power could actually be so close to them.
Nothing would stop because Mulliner 728 left the office that day. Everything would begin the moment the black luxury car appeared on their doorstep.
It was at that moment that Michael, who had just entered the Navarre Senate office and had worked for less than half an hour, would become the first beneficiary of power.
In just fifteen minutes, he had received three courtesy phone calls, all from snobbish bigwigs who usually spoke to officials in prominent positions in local government.
This not only made Michael a little confused but also surprised David, who was temporarily sorting out office documents and some cleaning up.
After all, the county was abuzz with rumors that Michael, who reported for work that day, was assigned to the Senate to live out his days as a retired man, just because he had offended Christopher.
Since Michael took office, in addition to a few symbolic courtesy calls on the afternoon of the first day, his office was empty and quiet for the past few days.
Basically, it was a retired life where one could pass the time with a cup of coffee and a newspaper.
