The Failed Rejection -
Chapter 11
Jackson pov
Penelope was leaving tomorrow, As sad as he was to see her go it was the right thing for her. Penelope was going through a traumatic event, same as Liliana.
Jackson borrowed a small trailer from Alpha Liam and started to load up her personal belongings in it. He was in the middle of hauling a box when he felt some one come up behind him.
“What are you doing playing father to my pup?” Former gamma Dave came up to him growling. Jackson looked up at him unconcerned,
“I’m picking up where you fell short, you should be thanking me,” Jackson pushed past him. Dave grabbed his arm, but Jackson threw it off,
“You aren’t a gamma any longer, so you aren’t stronger than me.” Jackson growled menacingly letting his wolf come out. Dave growled right back,
“She’s mine.”
“You know Dave, you had everything but you ruined it because you couldn’t accept one tragic thing that happened to your mate.” Jackson told him and Dave sneered at him.
“What would you know of it?”
“At least Barb live through it. They killed my Rose after r****g her.” Jackson let the knowledge slip out.
“She’s still my pup.”
“Yeah, but she doesn’t want you any more. Take a hint and f.uck off,” Jackson shouldered past him and continued to pack up the trailer.
Penelope pov
My dearest Penelope
My heart breaks for you hearing what happened to Lili. As well as hearing that you had to not only be in the room for the surgery but try and shock her back to life. This is the sad reality of being a surgeon, especially us werewolf’s my dear sweet mate. We have to work on people we know and love often. While I never had to perform on a family member, I have had to work on many friends. It can be nerve racking.
I am glad to hear that she is alive, she has been in my thoughts. Although I must confess they are always consumed of you my dear Elsa.
Pen couldn’t help but laugh. She loved how he compared her and Lili to Elsa and Anna from Frozen. They were sisters that couldn’t be broken apart by anything. She truly wished they were like that. Penelope continued to read the email and felt he heart beat out of her chest. Koko started to whine,
“Want mate, need mate.” Penelope let out a heavy sigh.
“I do too, I never thought I’d actually miss him, but having him be so far away has made me miss him.” Koko continued to whine until Penelope suggested they go on a run.
“Run,” Koko was practically salivating.
“Okay let’s just reply to Noah and check my other emails then we will go.” Penelope sent Noah a quick but what she thought was romantic email. Then she checked her other emails. She got an email from the university with her new dorm information on it.
“Thank goddess it’s a single.” Penelope specifically requested a single, for ‘medical purposes’ and had a note sent in. Penelope had to do the same thing when she was a freshman and the university required everyone to stay in the dorms. Penelope didn’t want to take chances that she growled in her sleep and freak out her roommate.
“Time for run,” Koko nagged her again. “I don’t nag! We never get to run.” Penelope let out a laugh,
“Fair enough.”
Penelope was never much for training, she only did it sporadically. The same with shifting, that wasn’t because she didn’t like being in her wolf form. That wasn’t the case at all, she was just in a human school. In a human city, and there was a huge risk of exposure.
Penelope went to the edge of the woods and stripped naked. She knew she was in amazing shape, and had amazing sense of self-worth. Penelope winked at the males sending looks her way.
“Only want mate,” Koko said.
“Calm down Koko, it was just some harmless flirting.” Penelope turned into her beautiful light brown wolf and took off like a shot. Koko wasn’t as strong as she should be. Sometimes that bothered Penelope, all of the thing she was sacrificing to become a doctor. It had to be worth it in the end. Right?
“It will be worth Penelope. The goddess has a plan for us.”
“You sound like Lili,” Penelope said as they jumped over a log.
“Liliana and Tula are right. Just as they were chosen by the moon goddess. So are we, only our path is different.” Koko told her as we continued through the forest. Penelope digested her wolves words as Koko frolicked and played in the forest. Koko hunted a rabbit, after fifteen minutes Penelope grew bored and told her to kill it.
Penelope hated to end her wolves time, but she still had a lot to do before she left in the morning with Jackson. Dad. She wasn’t sure if she’d get used to calling him that. Penelope couldn’t lie, it was amazing to have a man that acted like a father toward her.
Penelope got to her pile of clothes and quickly shifted back to her human form. She slipped back on her sundress and underwear. She decided to forego a bra today. She pulled out her phone and check the time, it was only four. Perfect, the kiddos should be sitting down to dinner.
Penelope came to the pack house kitchen to see Callum, Jocelyn, Helen, Nathan, and Killian eating dinner. The kids saw her enter and ran to her screaming.
“Aunt Pee!” Callum called her that since he was a baby. It didn’t bother her anymore.
“Look it’s my two favorite people, now what did Helen make for dinner tonight?”
“Pagetti!” Jocelyn said happily.
“Oh really?”
“Yeah it’s my favorite,” Callum told her.
“Mine too,” she said as she sat down with the kids on her lap. Not really, her favorite dinner was probably tacos. Penelope spent the rest of the evening with the kids. She even went as far as read them a story and tucked them into bed. Callum and Jocelyn born currently we’re sharing a room. Killian was working on getting the little princess a room on the alpha floor.
When Penelope left the kids in bed she walked to the infirmary. She quietly entered her sisters room. Oddly enough the room was empty. Penelope sat down in the empty chair, and slipped her hand into Lili’s warm one.
“It feels so wrong to leave you like this Liliana.” Penelope took a deep breath as she fought not to cry. “But you were and are my biggest cheerleader. I know what will happen when you wake up and replace out that I stayed and missed this opportunity. I know this is what you would want for me, but it still feels wrong.” Penelope felt a few tears fall down her eyes.
“I love you so much Liliana.” Penelope sat a with her sister for an hour and said goodbye. While the doctors were hopeful, there was always the possibility she simply wouldn’t wake up.
Suddenly the door opened and in walked Killian. Penelope smiled at the young alpha, that boy had really matured the last couple of years.
“Pining for your mate will do that,” Koko said. Penelope didn’t comment, as he made his own decisions.
“You better get some rest Penelope’, you have a long drive tomorrow.” Killian said as he sat in the other seat opposite mine.
“Yeah I should, please Killian, let me know the moment anything changes.” Penelope requested and stood up.
“I will, Lili would have it no other way,@ Killian said with a smile. Penelope returned the smile and left the room. Penelope returned to her room, took a shower, and finished packing her room.
She went to sleep that night excited for what her future would bring, even with it being as blurry as it was.
