The Failed Rejection -
Chapter 32
Alpha Axel
A witch. A f.ucking witch.
Well let’s get back to him having a second chance mate. Axel and his pack still hadn’t gotten over the betrayal of his last mate. Axel didn’t want a second mate.
Thank the moon goddess that only a handful of people knew, and they weren’t part of his pack. Axel knew Svetlana was wanting to talk to him about their new mate bond. He was wanting to avoid it with everything inside of him. Though his bear was chuffing inside of his head.
Here is where he found himself, peeking outside of his office door looking to see if he could see anyone. Axel didn’t see or sense anyone looking for him so he decided to step outside. He heard a feminine voice clearing from behind him. Axel let out a little shriek, and spun around. In the process he ended up slamming the door, and plastered against it. His newfound mate looked at him with a cute little smile on her face.
“Looking for some one?” She asked him. Axel tried to reclaim what was left of his dignity and pulled himself together.
“You actually.” Svetlana raised a brow at that but didn’t comment. Axel tried to explain everything he felt, but no words were coming out. Finally she spoke up,
“I see a recent bond breaking. Is that why you are avoiding me?” Svetlana asked, and he nodded. Axel didn’t question her.
“Yeah, she sold me out to rogues. I was in a cell next to Luna Liliana. That’s how I know Alpha Killian.”
“Do you know their son?” Svetlana asked tentatively. Axel nodded,
“I know he’s the next werewolf king,” Axel said and Svetlana seemed relieved.
“Good. I was there at his birth, even being a witch it was awe inspiring seeing this newborn transition.”
“I can only imagine,” Axel stated. Svetlana smiled, and he was taken away by her beauty. He shook himself,
“Still. By the time I got back here it was to attend my own funeral. My first mate was there crying in the arms of another man.” Axel took a breath to calm down, “Anyway. I’m still not over the hurt of that,” Axel explained. Svetlana looked hurt, but she nodded.
“I waited three hundred years for you, I can’t wait a little long,” Svetlana said surprising him. Axel was shocked to hear her actual age. There was a knock on the door before he could respond.
“Come in!” Axel hollered, relieved for the distraction. Killian and Braxton came in while his mate walked out. Killian noticed the tension but didn’t comment on it.
“What’s going on?” He asked looking at Braxton seeing how nervous and excited her seemed.
“Dude. I shifted for the first time since I woke up in that hospital,” Braxton whispered-yelled. Axel just shrugged his shoulders. Before Braxton could say anything Killian intervened,
“It seems he’s a white bear.” Axel was shocked so many thoughts flooding through his mind. Before any thoughts could be processed Killian came in with a sobering thought.
“I have to leave in the morning. But you need to proceed with extreme caution. Cause whoever can take down a white bear is a dangerous player indeed.” Killian stating the obvious. Killian started to head to the door, but stopped.
“Before I left I just wanted you to know Luka Volkov rejected his wick several months ago. He also told me he never stopped loving Svetlana, while the Volkov’s think their daughter is an abomination. It is very rare for two people who aren’t mates to have kids. There’s a reason they had Natasha, just something to think about. ,” Killian said before leaving the office and Axel growling.
Braxton pov
Brax came back to his room from talking to Alpha Axel. Axel was pissed after hearing that he had competition for his new found mate. Brax didn’t stay long, just informed him that he was a white bear.
He found a letter on his bed.
.
Dear Braxton,
I have to leave, I received a call from my mates family, apparently there was an attack and he is in the hospital. I really don’t know what’s going on, but it sounds serious.
While I do fully plan on having Noah accept the rejection I feel I have to see him. I feel this is something I have to do.
I also feel that you need to restore your memories, and grieve your mate. While I want nothing more to be with you Brax we have to get our life together in order before we can be with each other. If it is our destiny to be together at all.
My sister is always telling me to believe in the plans the moon goddess has for me. I have to do that now. I have to put faith in that you will return to me. Faith that if we are meant to be together then we will replace a way.
I love you
Penelope
.
While Braxton felt pain in his chest from Penelope leaving him, he knew that she was right. The smart woman usually was. Braxton needed to get his memories back. Brax needed to get his life together, he needed to remember why he was in Philly in the first place. Why he was nearly killed. Bear shifters are hard to kill, even more so white shifters.
Once he figures that out, then all bets were of. Then he would go after his woman. Cause Penelope was his, there is no doubt in his mind. Not after that k**s. Brax swore he could feel sparks when their lips met. But as she still had a mate, they would never know until the first bond was broken.
Braxton decided to go down to the dungeons for a little questioning. The walk to the dungeons was quick, on his way down he decided to start with Stephanie. When he first met the woman his bear immediately did not like the woman claiming to be his mate. Braxton chalked it up to the new bond he had formed with Penelope, but now he wasn’t so sure.
When he got down to the dungeons he talked to one of the guards who told him that all of the rooms record everything. Which is exactly what Braxton was looking for. He didn’t know what he was going to get out of this woman, but Brax knew she had an ulterior motive.
“Perfect, set it up.” Braxton decided the best option was to make her sweat it out for a little while.
Braxton sat killing time for about an hour, while Stephanie waited in the cell. He opened the door to reveal a very stressed out woman. His bear instantly chuffed at the site of her. Stephanie immediately looked relieved,
“Braxie! Oh thank goddess you are here! You wouldn’t believe what they are doing to me!” Stephanie tried to get up, but she couldn’t due to the silver chains keeping her locked in place at the table. Braxton let out a little smile and the dumb woman thought that it was a good thing for her.
“I knew you wouldn’t let me rot in here!” Braxton started to laugh, he couldn’t help it.
“You really think I’m going to help you? After you lied? When my bear can’t stand your presence?” The door opened and in walked one of the warriors with a tray of devices used to extract information. Stephanie looked from the tray to him in horror.
“Now, let’s get to business.” Brax said with a menacing smile.
