The Failed Rejection -
Chapter 37
Noah pov
Since the rejection Noah decided it was best to go back home to his parents in Boston. It wouldn’t be hard for Noah to replace a job, he was an amazing surgeon with excellent credentials. He just felt like going home and licking his wounds.
Noah decided to move back home with his folks until he got his s**t together. His mother was thrilled he was moving back in. His dad not so much. Money wasn’t the issue. Noah had plenty of it. Noah thought he just needed some support at the moment, and naturally his mother agreed.
His parents didn’t live in a pack, but belonged to one near Medford. His brothers lived in the territory, as his oldest brother took the role of beta for his father a long time ago.
Noah thought it was best to avoid women for awhile. He got himself in trouble because he couldn’t stay away from them. His mother wasn’t helping any, she was trying to set him up with every single woman in the pack. Noah decided it would be best to get back to work instead of moping at his parents after a week or two.
Noah called up his old supervisor at Boston mass and soon got his old job back at the emergency room. They were always looking for good surgeons. Soon he was buried in his work and acting like the last year never happened. But he knew it had to blow up sometime.

Braxton pov
Braxton was stressed out to the max about the upcoming auction. The ticket to the auction required a wolf shifter, and he had no idea where he was going to replace one. Denali suggested risking it and telling the auctioneers they had it down wrong. Braxton knew that wouldn’t work. Knox suggested we use a weak wolf from the neighboring pack to manipulate. Brax nixed that idea as well. The dynamic wouldn’t work at a place like the auction.
They were going to have to call some one from the Midnight Howlers pack. His brothers threw a fit when he first suggested calling a different wolf pack, but Braxton was alpha and he pulled rank on his brothers.
Braxton trusted Penelope as well as Alpha Axel, and they both trusted Alpha Killian. So he was going to have to bite the silver bullet and give him a call. Braxton pulled out his phone, and looked up his number. When he left Axel’s pack in Michigan, Killian gave it to him. Braxton hit the call number and after two rings the call connected.
“Alpha Killian,” came the deep authoritarian voice on the phone.
“Alpha Killian its Alpha Braxton I don’t know if you remember me-“ Braxton started to introduce himself.
“Of course I remember you, don’t forget a strong alpha like yourself. How can I help you?” Killian asked him in a jovial tone. Nothing at all like most alpha wolves. Braxton looked at his brothers faces and they all showed surprised.
“I know you just helped me out to remember my memories. Which I have done so. But I need you help again.” Braxton told him.
“Does Penelope know that?” Killian asked with warning in his voice. Braxton liked hearing that his Penelope had someone looking out for her.
“No. I needed to heal, and still do that’s what I need your help with. What caused me to loose my memories I was trying to avenge the loss of my mate.”
“I’m sorry, how can I help?” Killian asked solemnly. Braxton gave Killian a quick run down of what the situation was, and what he needed from his pack.
“Okay how about this. You guys fly out here, and we will get you a wolf or two to accompany you. I will also make sure you have some extra muscle from Axel’s pack ready to go with you.”
“Really?” Braxton asked.
“Yes. Im also going to call the werewolf council to see what they have on this. I doubt we will be able to get anything before the auction as they are notoriously slow, but it’s worth a shot.”
“Okay sounds good,” Braxton absentmindedly.
“When can you fly out?” Killian asked.
“It’s Alaska, we have to have our own plane, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to go anywhere, I’ll get you our ETA. Thank you for your help again Alpha.”
Braxton had the call on speaker phone so everyone had heard the conversation. So when he hung up the phone everyone started talking at once.
“Silence!” He yelled.
“Who was that?” Denali asked.
“He was the alpha of the midnight howlers pack.” His fathers face twitched a little.
“You know him dad?” Dakota asked. His dad shook his head,
“I only know of him.”
“What do they say?” His brother Cam asked.
“He’s strong. One of the most powerful alpha wolf’s out there. Almost everyone is afraid of him after he took down the rogue king last year.”
“That was him?” Braxton asked. His father nodded his head.
“How did you get his number son?”
“Penelope gave it to me. Told me to call him if I ever needed help,” Braxton said distractedly. His brother Knox growled,
“How dare she give you her mates number?” Braxton rolled his eyes,
“He’s her brother-in-law you idiot.” His brother looked embarrassed,
“Oh.”
“What rank is this woman you are obsessed with son?” His dad asked.
“Not that it matters, but she is a gamma.” His father nodded saying nothing.
“All right anyone want to volunteer to stay home with mom and dad?” That erupted in a shouting match.
“All right! All right. Let’s get some straws. Shortest straw stays home to protect the pack.” They ended up grabbing some straws from the kitchen. And poor Dakota lost.
“Sorry brother. Everyone else pack light, we are headed out to Illinois in fifteen.” Braxton called the pilot and told him to meet them on the airstrip as soon as possible. Braxton went to his room and packed his back quickly. He checked his phone. He had five minutes left. f**k it. Braxton dialed Penelope’s number. It rang, and rang then it went to voicemail. So he started to talk.
“Hey Penelope, I miss you. Everyday. I found my home, and got my memories back…I’ve been grieving like you said I should, for my mate.” His voice cracked. “And my cub.” He cleared his throat. “Anyway I’m headed to your pack with my brothers-“ Braxton was going to say more but the call cut out. He looked at his phone in confusion not sure what to do. Did he look pathetic and call again or just leave it be.
“Braxton time to go,” Denali banged on his door. Braxton decided it was best to just leave it be. The next thing Braxton and his brothers are on a plane heading out of Alaska and to Illinois.

Penelope pov
Penelope was in the middle of moving into her new apartment when she heard her phone ring. It went to voicemail and she wasn’t able to check it for a few hours.
Penelope saw that it was Braxton that left her a voicemail she was so excited. Until she heard he lost his cub. When his voice broke Penelope felt her heart break at that. She couldn’t help but wonder why Braxton was headed to her pack. Penelope decided to call and ask him. She quickly pulled out her phone and give his number a call. It simply went to voicemail like it was shut off.
“Hey Braxton. I got your message. I’m heartbroken to hear what your lost, and honestly there are no words. But you will get through this. I’m glad to hear you got your memories back, and that you are healing… I finally saw my mate again, and we broke out bond. It was hard but we weren’t good for each other.” Penelope took a breath. “I did well in my classes, I’m moving to a new place. I hope to hear from you.” Penelope was going to say more but was cut off. It was probably for the best, she would just say something dumb. The only thing she could do now was focus on her life.
Authors note: did I name all of the brothers??
