The Fall Ball
Chapter 17

(Rose)

I get to my room and crawl into bed. As soon as my head hits the pillow I’m asleep. As I drift off I hear a strange sound.

I open my eyes and see that I’m back in the void.

I look around and see nothing. But I can hear a strange sound. It sounds like a low growl or purr. I’m not sure where it is coming from, so I start to walk around.

As I walk around I don’t see much, as it’s the void and is mostly dark. But then the sound gets louder. The sound is coming from directly behind me.

I turn and am shocked at what I see. Right behind me is a beautiful wolf.

Lilly.

I will never get used to seeing her. She is magnificent!

I look around to see if I can catch the glow of the goddess. But I don’t see it. All I see around me is Lilly and the glow that she gives off.

She walks up to me and puts her head in my hand. As soon as I touch her I hear her voice in my head.

“My Rose, I called you here myself. The goddess will not be here so no need to look for her.” She says to me.

I nod in acknowledgment.

I look at her and smile. “I think I’m going to sit down;” I tell her.

She backs up to give me space. I laugh as I sit down. As soon as I sit down Lilly comes closer to me.

She walks up to me and lies down next to me. She watches me for a minute. Then she places her large head in my lap. It startles me. So I jump a bit and just watch her.

Then all of a sudden, I hear that strange noise again. I look down and Lilly has her eyes closed. She is making the sound. It is a mix of a growl and a purr. I start to pet her and the sound gets louder.

I laugh. “Do you like this?” I ask her.

“Yes, I do, it relaxes me,” she says back to me.

It is still surprising to have someone else in my head.

“So Lilly, is there a reason you called me here tonight? I have had a very long day.” I say.

“You are not the only one who had a long day. I saw everything that happened to you. And I was the one to help you heal. It is extremely difficult to heal someone.” She says to me.

“You healed me? Why?” I ask her.

Then I think to myself. I am so confused why she would want to heal me. I am nothing to her and I am just a human.

“You are more than just a human; you are special, and you will replace out soon enough. But for now, we can just rest. You are going to have a long week ahead of you.” She says and closes her eyes.

I look at her in shock and amusement. “Did you just bring me here so I could pet you while you sleep?”

You can sleep too, but since your body is already sleeping, I don’t think it will do much for you in terms of feeling rested. But having you here helps me to relax.” She says to me.

I just smile at her and decide that I am going to lay down too. I move her head so that it is resting on the ground, she opens her eyes and looks at me.

“Don’t worry I’m not going anywhere,” I tell her. She nods and closes her eyes again.

I move to lay my head on her. She rolls on her side. And we stayed that way for a while. I must have fallen asleep.

The next thing I know there is a knock on the door and I am back in my bed. I growl as I stand up to open the door. I don’t even stop to fix myself up. It is still dark out and no one should be here this early.

I open the door and am met with Alpha Jake and Craig. I growl under my breath. As I look at the two of them I realize that I am still in my tank top and short bed shorts, my hair is a mess.

Alpha looks at me and smiles. “Good morning to you too, Rose. It’s time to get moving. We will eat on the way so please hurry up, grab your bags and meet us at the car. If you need help with your bags, Craig can help you with them.”

“Like I said yesterday, I don’t need a bodyguard and I don’t need assistance with my bags. I will be fine. Let me tell my parents bye and then I will be out.” I tell him.

I shut the door and growl in frustration. I knew we were leaving this morning, I just didn’t think it would be this early. I knock on my parents’ door to tell them I’m leaving. They come out and say goodbye to me, then they walk out to the car to speak with the Alpha.

Craig is watching from the doorway as I carry the bags down. I am struggling with them, but refuse to let him help. He laughs at me as I walk by him.

“Little Rose, I think this is going to be the most memorable thing I have ever been ordered to do. Being your bodyguard is going to be full of fun, I am sure.” He says to me with a smile.

I get to the car with all my bags. Alpha Jake and my parents look at me and smile. I tell my parents bye. As I walk to get in the car Alpha looks at me with a smile.

Rose, this is the car Luna and I are going to use. You will be riding in that car with Craig,” he says, pointing to the other car.
