The Fall Ball
Chapter 23

(Rose)

“Your eyes!!” Ash says quickly letting go of my hand.

“What about my eyes?” I ask.

Alpha Jake comes over to me.

“Umm, Rose. Your eyes are electric green.” He tells me.

At this point, King James walks over to me.

“Little Rose, what are you feeling right now?” King James asks me.

“I’m feeling very overwhelmed and confused,” I say.

“Well try to calm down. Focus on one thought,” Queen Mary says.

“Okay,” I say closing my eyes. Thinking of the field of flowers from my dream earlier. Calm nature sounds. Bright beautiful colors. Butterfly’s, the blue one that visited me.

“Okay. I’m better now,” I say opening my eyes.

“Good job. Your eyes are back to their normal hazel color now. I do believe that was your wolf coming out to have a look around. Normally, only an extreme event can motivate her to come forward.” King James says to me.

“Do you have an idea of what might have brought her forward?” Craig asks me.

“Umm, I don’t really know.” I say looking at Ash who is wide eyed watching all of this.

Before I can say anything else, Ash runs out the door.

Everyone turns to watch him. He shifts as soon as he is outside.

“Mate!” I hear deep within my mind again. I look to see the large black wolf, with gray patches along his back and a white spot on his snout.

I am shocked at what I am seeing. This is the wolf from my dream! How is that possible? How did I dream of someone I had never met before?

I am crazy.

The others all turn to look at me. “Rose, are you okay?” I hear Alpha Jake say to me. But I am not listening. My mind is racing.

Is it true? Did my wolf come forward? Do I really have a mate?

“Rose?” Alpha tries again.

He reaches out to touch my arm and I growl at him. He jumps back in surprise.

I’m not sure who is more surprised, him or I…

“I am so sorry Alpha Jake. I don’t know what is going on with me today.” He laughs at me.

“It’s okay Rose. I know that you didn’t mean to do it. I do not believe you are in control. I think your wolf is closer than any of us think.” Alpha Jake says, looking over at the King.

“Well, her wolf is definitely closer now than it was before. Her smell has gotten stronger. She will definitely show herself soon.” King James says with a smile on his face.

“Well now that the excitement has settled down. I think you ladies should head off to the mall. See what you replace and please buy anything that you like. My treat.” King James says.

“Yes that sounds wonderful.” Luna Liz says. She walks up to me and grabs my hand. She squeezes it. And we head out the door to the car that is waiting for us. Queen Mary meets us at the car.

“We will take two cars. Luna Liz will ride with me in that one and Craig and Rose can ride in this one.” Queen Mary says with a smile. We all nod in agreement and get into the designated cars.

Once we are on the road to the mall. I notice Craig is watching me.

“Something on your mind? You might as well just say it.”

“Have your eyes changed colors like that before?” He asks me.

“No, they have never done that before.” I tell him with a sigh.

He nods. “Your eyes changed to the same color as your scars on your side,” He states.

“Yeah, I figured as much,” I respond to him.

“Do you have any idea what triggered her to come forward like that?” He asks me.

I sit and think about my answer. I decide I may as well tell him everything.

“Before I answer that, I wanna tell you some things.” So I explain to him about my first dream with Selene and Lilly.

“Yeah, Alpha told me about that dream.” He interrupts me.

“Okay, well that’s not the only dream I have had.” So I explain to him my second dream with Selene. His eyes are wide, but he doesn’t say anything. So then I tell him about the dream with Sol.

“You had a dream about the goddess’ sister?” He asks.

I just nod at him.

Then I tell him about my dream with Lilly.

“So that is why you wanted to know about the calling sound wolves make.” He says with a smile.

“Yeah it is. I hadn’t heard it before then and it was just strange. But I had my last dream on my way here.”

So I tell him about the field and the wolf in my dream.

His eyes go wide. “You had a premonition!” He exclaims.

“A what?” I ask him.

“A premonition.” He explains to me, “This is a gift the goddess has bestowed on few of us to help us see the future if we are ever in danger.”

“Oh,” I say and I look out the window. And there in front of me, running along the highway is a field of wildflowers.

“That is beautiful,” Craig says from next to me.

“So does that mean that Ash is your mate?” He asks me.

“I don’t know,” I say honestly. “I felt the sparks in my dream with his wolf, and I felt the sparks when he shook my hand.” I explain.

“But he ran from me. So maybe I’m not his mate and it is all one-sided feelings. Due to my wolf acting strange.” I tell him.

“So you admit you have a wolf?” he says with a smile.

“Well, I’m not about to argue with the King, and he is pretty positive I have one. And with all the other strange things going on, I have no other explanation.” I say.

“Do you think the library here will have more books on the goddess and her sister?” I ask him.

He looks at me.

“Yes I am sure it does, the palace library is said to have every book ever written with information on our kind and our history. Are we going to have a history project?” He asks me with a grin.

“I would like to try and figure out more about them and my dreams to see if I can get answers to some of my many questions. There is just so much chaos happening right now, I feel lost.” I say.

He nods in understanding. “Well I am here to help in any way that I can.” He says with a smile.

The car comes to a stop. We have made it to the mall.

“Time to go shopping,” I say to Craig. He smiles and gets out and holds the door open for me.
