The Headmaster Alpha's Mate -
The Headmaster Alpha’s Mate Chapter 102
Drake sat at the front of the large double decker bus, he was beyond pleased, that his new Alpha had agreed to let him join them on this trip. He wanted to help, he needed to let other omegas know that there was a different way of life, that they could live in peace, be cared for, their pups allowed to be, just that, pups and not disposable workhorses, whipped and beaten if they so much as looked into the eyes of any other ranked pack member. Caroline had supported him, but still he knew she was fearful of him embarking on this journey, especially as they had not mate and marked yet.
Drake let out a contented sigh, his new mate, she was amazing, and if he was honest, he could not wait to claim her for all the world to see. But they had agreed to wait a little while, to get to know each other, rather than allow the primal l**t of the mate bond drive them to a permanent decision that would affect not only their lives but also the lives of Ellie Tom, and now young James. He had only been at the Crescent Moon pack for a few days, but already he had a sense of belonging, and he truly loved his new family that he had required. He was stronger in spirit, but also with all the food and love from his mate, he was also stronger physically. He was still skin and bone, but he was nowhere near as tired as he had been, his body now only aching a little, rather than the pain even walking had caused him before.
The young warriors who were around 16 to 17 years old were all sat together at the back of the bus, currently singing to their Alpha who was driving them for the six hour journey, after the Luna had begun the song with a giggle.
“Oh, the driver has a lovely pair of legs,
Oh, the driver has a lovely pair of legs,
Oh, the driver has a lovely pair of legs,
But he ain’t got a pair like mine.”
Drake smiled, never would the youngsters of his old pack, irrespective of rank, dared to sing songs about Alpha Ken, he would have had them baring their necks in submission for such a slight. But Alpha Zander was different, a man who understood teenagers, who gained respect not because he used his power to demoralize those under him, but because he joined in the fun, and would only use his power when absolutely necessary, it was like breathing fresh air to be around him, and the Luna Princess Chloe.
Drake pondered if the reason his Alpha had such a young mate, was because he could easily relate to her generation, he had never witnessed an Alpha and Luna who worked so well together, even with the age gap. Although, if he was honest, he only had Alpha Ken and Luna Anne as his base line, and his old leader spent more time with the horrible woman Amanda Bines than he did with his mate. It did not take a genius to work out that more than just the omegas had witnessed this, but he would never have dared ask the ranked members their opinion, he would have been beheaded without a second thought if he had.
Chloe was bored of the long bus journey, and missing Phoenix. It had been horrible, passing her over to Faith, and try as she might to smile at her new daughter, she found that tears were spilling from her eyes when it was time to wave goodbye. To keep her from going crazy with worry, she had instigated a good old bus sing-a-long, and she could hear Zander’s low chuckle as most of the songs were aimed at him. The last song died down, so she instantly began another, to help keep her mind off everything they had to face once they reached Jorvick. Tonight, they would stay in a human hotel in the city of York, which was not to far from the Jorvick pack lands, located in the North Yorkshire Moors of England. The meetings were first thing in the morning, and once they were done with, they would travel back to Scotland, only stopping for refreshments when they reached Alpha Liam and the Northumberland Pack.
The youngsters on the bus broke into yet another song, indicating they needed a bathroom break.
“Stop the bus I want a Wee, wee,
Stop the bus I want a Wee, wee,
Stop the bus I want a Wee, wee, cos its dribbling down my leg.”
“We are close to Wearside Pack, we will do a pit stop here.” Zander announced to the bus, and a loud cheer erupted from the teenagers.
Chloe looked over to Drake, he had remained silent most of the journey, looking like he was deep in thought.
“Hey, are you okay Drake? If you do not want to talk to the omegas when we get there, you really do not have to.” Chloe smiled at him.
“No, I am okay Luna, I want to help. I am just thinking how different this all is.” Drake smiled warmly, his stutter caused by fear had disappeared completely now, and that filled Chloe’s heart with joy.
“It’s Chloe, unless you piss me off, then it is Luna.” Chloe smiled at Caroline’s mate.
“Yes, sorry Lun…Chloe, it is just alien to me, to call you by your name.” Drake apologised.
“I know, but no matter what rank, or if you are royal or not, trust me, I will still be pushing in line for the bathroom break. I am no better than you, or anyone else.” Chloe grinned at him.
“Oh, I beg to differ Chloe.” Drake smiled back.
Chloe giggled, she liked that he was growing in confidence, able to banter back to her, and she nodded her approval.
Zander pulled off the A1 and headed towards the Wearside pack lands, it was a small area, known locally as the black woods, which was just a small wooded area, on the outskirts of the human city. The large monument, that resembled an ancient Greek temple stood on a small hill, indicated the beginning of the Wearside pack, they lived in the forest behind, but a lot of the pack members had bought houses living side by side in the small village of Penshaw.
“That monument was built in honour of the first earl of Durham, in 1844.” Zander began, as Chloe smiled thinking he would forever be the ‘teacher’.
“The Earl was known for his relentless pursuit for radical reform, and was nick named ‘Radical Jack’. He was of course Human, but still, I feel this monument also stands for what we believe in and is a reminder that we must be relentless in our bid to change the hearts and minds of those who still believe slavery is appropriate.” Zander continued his lesson, as the large bus pulled up in the tiny carpark at the foot of the hill.
“Okay, just a reminder, you are amongst humans, so you will all behave responsibly, if we climb up the steps that lead to the monument, then over the other side of the hill we will be at the Wearside pack once we reach the woods.” Zander ordered, as they all scampered to get of the bus, desperate to know when they could get to a bathroom.
Zander locked up the bus, then took hold of Chloe’s hand as they climbed up Penshaw hill, taking a few moments to appreciate the architecture of the monument before them. Drake followed behind, his breath slightly laboured from the climb, but he was determined not to show anyone he was struggling due to his poor physical state.
The youngsters did not stop to admire the view, or the monument, all of them hurtled towards the pack’s boarders. A warrior stepped out from behind a tree, recognising the scent of werewolves, a low growl echoed around the trees, it would have been inaudible for Human ears, but it could not be missed as a warning to the young werewolves.
Zander and Chloe broke into a jog and reached the border.
“I am Alpha Zander Colton, this is the Luna Princess Chloe Colton, and these are my pack members, we have an alliance with Alpha Harry and Luna Mary. Please could you link with them and ask permission for us to enter, for a refreshment break on our journey.” Zander formally asked.
The warrior bowed his head in submission to Chloe instantly, then his eyes glazed over, before nodding his head.
“I am sorry Alpha, Princess.” He apologised.
“No need to apologise, we should have called ahead of time.” Chloe smiled at the warrior who nodded his head then began to lead them to the Wearside pack house.
Chloe looked around as they walked through the woods, when a white washed farmhouse came into view. The pack house was a lot smaller than their own, but it was still a beautiful building, and fitted perfectly in the surrounding landscape.
“Alpha Zander, Princess Chloe, How nice to see you both.” Alpha Harry welcomed them with a wide smile.
“Come in, there is a small toilet just off the hall, plus a larger bathroom on the first floor, and please, I can see a lot of you hopping from foot to foot, so use the ensuite in the Alpha bedroom as well.” Luna Mary welcomed them.
“Sorry for dropping in unannounced.” Chloe smiled at the Luna.
“Oh, don’t be daft man, we are allies, our pack is your pack.” Mary said kindly.
“Now, I have a large pan of panacalty on the go, there is more than enough for everyone, take a seat and we will have food together.” Mary beckoned them all in.
Chloe thanked her again, offering to give the Luna some help in the kitchen.
“Oh, don’t worry about it pet, I am used to cooking for the 5,000, so to speak.” Mary grinned.
“Don’t you have help?” Chloe asked, this was the first pack she knew of that did not have a team of omegas to do the cooking, and cleaning.
“A little, but I love to cook, and look after the pack members myself.” Mary grinned, as she took hold of the large pot.
Chloe noticed the tip of her middle finger was missing, and frowned slightly, wondering how that had happened, and why she had not been healed from the obvious injury. Noticing where Chloe was looking Mary smiled warmly.
“Back in World War 2 I worked in the munitions factory, got my finger stuck in the machinery. Chopped the end of my finger clean off, but because I was working with mostly humans, I had to stop my wolf from healing me.” Mary explained.
Chloe smiled, world war two, that was over a hundred years ago, and she wondered how old Mary and Harry were.
Again, as if she read Chloe’s mind, she smiled.
“I am 202 years young, and Harry, is 268 years young.” She grinned.
“That still blows my mind.” Chloe laughed.
“Yes, I bet it does pet. Now, would you like a piece of taffy whilst we wait.” Mary winked at Chloe.
With a giggle, Chloe nodded her head, she loved this woman, and reminded her of an older grandmother.
Chloe stood in shock, as Mary went into her handbag, and pulled out a large tray of toffee, with Brazil nuts in it, and a small toffee hammer and broke off a large piece handing it to Chloe.
“I din’it like dinner, this will take the taste away.” Mary grinned.
Chloe laughed, as Mary carried the pot out of the kitchen to the large mahogany dining table, placing it in the centre.
“The plates are in the dresser pet.” Mary indicated with her head to Chloe, and she went over and got out the plates, placing them around the table.
Beta Robert arrived and shouted with glee.
“Panacalty, Thanks Luna.” Then proceeded to grab the serving spoon and heaped it high with a pile of the corned beef, with bacon bits, covered in thin slices of potato, with lashing of gravy and dump it on his plate.
“Oi, beta, guests first.” Mary shouted at him, and he instantly apologised, and waited for Zander and the rest of the Crescent moon pack to get some food, before eating.
Chloe glanced at Zander, who had a wide smile on his handsome face, as Drake looked around, his eyes wide with shock.
“Ha’way lad, dive in, no need to sit on ceremony here.” Mary grinned at Drake.
They all ate the delicious food, and when they were all satisfied, Harry turned to Zander.
“I have some interesting news about your guest.” Then he looked around the youngsters sat enjoying the food, before adding
“Can we head into my office, I think you need to know this.” Harry said, keeping his eyes locked with Zander’s to let him know it was important.
Zander nodded his agreement
“After you Alpha.” He responded, as Chloe looked between them wanting to know what important news Harry had about Liane, and how it was going to affect them all.
