The Headmaster Alpha’s Mate Chapter 98

“What now!” Zander frustratedly exclaimed under his breath, as he turned and followed Faith into his office.

All he wanted was to enjoy a few days of peace for the holidays, then prepare for his wedding to Chloe, but life always seemed to get in the middle of what should be a happy time for both of them.

Taking hold of the phone, he blew out a breath, to calm himself down, not wanting to show any frustration to whoever was at the other end of the phone.

“Zander Colton.” his baritone voice rang out, full of authority, the fact he was pissed off perfectly masked.

“Alpha Colton, I…I…I am sorry t…t…to disturb you.” A meek voice stuttered on the other end of the line.

“That is okay, how can I help?” Zander asked, his brows knitted together, whoever it was sounded terrified to speak with him.

“My name is Drake Smith, I…I…I am an omega of the Ullswater pack, well, I was. Alpha, a few of us have escaped, after your mate showed us such kindness at the games, and we are seeking a place of refuge.” Drake stammered again.

Zander stiffened in his chair, wondering if this was some sort of trick, but then he sighed, if there was even just a 1 percent chance this was genuine, he could never refuse a place of refuge for the Omega’s from that pack, hell seeing them barely skin and bone had plagued his mind for months now, it was what had fuelled both him and Chloe to continue with this mission, no matter what the cost.

“How many of you have escaped?” Zander asked, his voice softening slightly.

“Fifteen, including the pups, ten adults, five pups. A…a…alpha.” Drake continued.

“Where are you all now?” Zander asked

“We are living as rogues, have been for a couple of months, in the forest that are not claimed by any pack, but the weather is very cold and some of us will not make the winter without medicine and shelter, especially a couple of the young pups.” Drake said, his voice becoming more confident the more he spoke with Zander.

“Give me your co-ordinates, and I will send a bus to pick you up and bring you here Drake.” Zander instantly decided, there was no way he was going to leave sick pups or people outside and alone in the blistering cold Scottish winter.

Jotting down where the omegas were living, he hung up and walked into the main living area.

“Right pack, listen in!” Zander’s voice echoed around the room, everyone immediately going silent.

His eyes locked with Chloe, as he mind linked her the situation, and she nodded instantly.

“We have a situation, some Omegas from the Ullswater pack, escaped and have been living as rogues for the past couple of months. They are cold, hungry and some of them are unwell being exposed to the elements. Given they are so weak and malnourished after years of living where they were treated as less than human, they are fearful not all will survive the harshness of winter.”

An audible gasp echoed around the room.

“I know it is the night before Christmas Eve, but I want each of you to remember the reason for the season, and I ask for volunteers to head out and help bring back these Omega’s, and their pups. I also ask if some of you would double up in your accommodation, so that we have enough space to accommodate them.”

“I will go, if they are unwell, they will need a healer” Ethan stood to his feet immediately, and Zander nodded at him, pride filling his heart that this young man, merely a student was always first to offer help.

“Thank you, Ethan.” Zander smiled at him.

“I will go as well; I can distribute blankets and warm clothes.” Ellie immediately added, and Zander supressed the smirk that was threatening to form on his lips.

“I will go of course, they may need to speak with someone.” Cheryl immediately offered.

“I will stay and set up the hospital, and I also think Luna Nicki should stay as well.” Andrew said, as he looked at Nicki, he was more than certain the Luna and his stepdaughter did not have long to go before she gave birth.

“Josh, would you stay as Alpha, with Nicki, then I can go, and I am sure my mate will not want to remain here.” Zander asked.

“Yeah, me and my froggy will stay and organise the preparations for you.” Josh agreed.

“I will come, but if Luke stays so he can ask Alpha Robin and Luna Lacey if they have any space at their pack.” Faith stood with a smile, if Nicki was staying then she would be free to help out with rescuing the Omega’s.

“I will come with some of our warriors, to ensure your safety, and help.” Terrance added, wanting to be sure his Alpha and Luna were protected.

“Then we have our rescue team, be ready in 30 minutes guys.” Zander ordered as Chloe stood up.

“Okay, Kitchen staff, I am unsure how much they have eaten, and they were in a terrible state at the games, so if you can prepare some hot soup, to not overwhelm their stomachs. Crescent Moon Pack families, if you have any toys that you can donate for the pups, please bring them here, also spare clothing, please.” Chloe added, as the pack all bowed their heads and replied “Yes Luna” in response.

“Sorry did not mean to use my Luna Princess voice guys!” Chloe giggled instantly, she had got a lot better at controlling her powerful voice, but every now and then, when she was passionate about something it would compel the pack to obey rather than have a choice, and she did not like to demand or use the power, she would much rather the pack did things because they wanted to.

Within the hour, the bus that Josh and Nicki had used to come to Crescent moon, was speeding down the motorway towards the south of Scotland. The atmosphere on the bus was happy, the helpers all singing Christmas carols, or chatting merrily. Chloe smiled at Zander as they sat hand in hand at the front of the bus.

“I am so proud of our pack.” Chloe grinned at her mate.

“Yes, they are amazing, I know tonight was a preparation night, but still it is part of the Christmas tradition, and they have given that up without thought for themselves, so that we can help.” Zander puffed his chest with pride.

“I will use my discernment gift when we get there, Alpha, just to be doubly sure they are all who they say they are.” Faith stated, she was more than happy to help those in need, but in such times as these it was always good to remain vigilant just in case.

An hour and a half later, they arrived on the edge of a forest area, that had no affiliation with any pack, in fact it was a complete no mans land Berwick pack was miles to the east, the closest pack was Northumberland pack, who were close allies, yet still it was miles and miles away from where the escaped Omega’s had made camp. Parking on the edge of the forest, Zander and Chloe got out of the bus, and hiding behind a tree, they stripped naked before shifting. It would be quicker and easier to be in their wolf form to get to them, plus it was always good practice to be cautious, and just seeing the large black wolf with the purple tip on his tail, alongside the purple wolf with a black tip on the end of her tail would cause any wolf, no matter if they were friend or foe to submit momentarily, giving them an advantage if they should need it.

Sheba nuzzled against Caesar, as the pair of strikingly beautiful wolves began to run through the forest, picking up the scent of the Omega wolves with ease. Terrance and the warriors followed close behind in their wolf form, whilst the rest of the volunteers walked behind carrying the bags of clothes and blankets, along with flasks filled with warm tea.

They rounded the corner to see a clearing in the forest, where a small camp was set up. The ten werewolves were all in wolf form, snuggled up together for warmth. It made sense, without shelter, they were better equipped to deal with the elements in their wolf form, the five pups aged between one and nine all snuggled up in the centre of the group in human form, as the wolves attempted to protect them from the cold with their fur.

Chloe gasped slightly inside of Sheba, the wolves were in a terrible state, you could see their ribs protruding out even under the fur of their wolf, her heart instantly began to break for them.

Terrance shifted into his human form, as the Omega’s all rolled onto their backs and bared their necks to Sheba and Caesar, filled with fear at seeing the royal mates approach them in wolf form.

“Do not be afraid, we have come to help you all. If you are strong enough to shift back to human please do so, we have warm clothing and drinks for you, and if you need a healer, please let us know, more of us are coming to help you as I speak.” Terrance stated on behalf of Zander.

A stick thin chocolate brown wolf stood on his feet, and slowly began to shift. A man stood before them, his hair long and shaggy the same colour as his fur, his eyes were as green as the forest, but dark circles surrounded them, his legs and arms were thin, his ribs on full view for all to see, his stomach sunken inwards.

“Your Majesty, I…i… am Drake Smith.” Drake stammered.

Zander instantly noticed that although he was an omega by b***d, this man had taken on the role of looking after the small pack, and they all were looking to him as their leader.

Zander shifted, but linked with Chloe to remain in wolf form, not liking thought of her being naked in front of any male wolf, even ones who required their help.

“Drake, I am Alpha Zander, we are here to help.”

Chloe mind linked with Ethan, instructing him to shift and get here faster.

“These wolves cannot walk all the way through the forest Zander, we need for them to shift into human form, get them clothed and wrapped in blankets, then, our pack need to shift and carry them on their backs back to the bus.” Chloe stated, wondering how they had survived this long in such a state.

Ethan arrived soon after, shifting, his eyes filled with tears as he looked at the pitiful Omega’s before him.

“This is Ethan, do not be afraid, he is a healer of great talent, he will come lay hands on each of you to give you a boost so that we can transport you all to the bus.” Zander informed them, not wanting them to be afraid of the young man, as he approached them all and placed his hands onto them, not healing them fully, but enough to get them to safety.

Faith arrived, carrying clothes and blankets with the other helpers, she quickly used her power of discernment, and all she could pick up was fear, helplessness, and relief.

“They all seem very genuine.” Faith linked with Zander, who nodded his head, he did not need discernment to see that this small pack of escaped omegas did not pose any real threat.

The pack all worked together to clothe and give a warm drink to each of the Omegas, then helped them all sit on the back of each of them, Drake stating he could manage to make the trip in his wolf form.

Chloe looked, he was the healthiest out of the bunch and that was saying something, given the state he was in.

“Zander, have all the pups ride on mine and your backs, and tell them to hold on as tight as they can.” Chloe instructed Zander.

With everyone tended to as much as they could out in the middle of nowhere, they made their way back to the large bus, and helped them all get on board, then set off back towards the pack.

Nicki oversaw the accommodation as best she could, waddling around. As much as she had loved being pregnant, she really was fed up of it now, her movements were limited, and the rapid growth of her child was causing her to feel exhausted most of the time, but she pushed through, as Josh kept a close eye on her.

Lacey and Robin had arrived to help as well, they had some space at their pack and would take some of the Omegas to live with them.

Caroline was busy helping out in the kitchen, and preparing to feed the new arrivals, when the sound of crunching gravel from the large bus, indicated that her Alpha and Luna had returned. She walked to the door, ready to help. Zander and Chloe were helping the emaciated wolves alight the bus, as she walked towards them, suddenly she froze, a smell of pine filled her nostrils, her heart began to race in her chest, as a man with the most gorgeous chocolate brown shaggy hair and forest green eyes looked at her, as a small weak growl erupted from him as they both gasped.

“Mate” they said together.
