Erick

POV

I send John and Trip to Seanet to retrieve Alexander. I know this will be a harrowing journey for them. Going into vampire country is no easy task. Trip was worried about leaving his wife and new baby behind but went willingly to help Kate. Cassie is sitting alongside Kate, and I have kept Austin entertained for the most part. I think it would be safe to bring his nanny back since we now know she was not anyone that the baby was fearful of right now.

I am scared for people to know how much power this baby has or how strong this baby will become as it grows. Alexander said the baby had an energy like no other. I have to wonder what kind of powers Kate and Macon have in them.

The thought of Macon lurking around as a vampire now and Angie on the run. Can we catch a break? Just one peaceful moment would be nice. I go ahead and call Austin's nanny. We need help here with Kate still in a coma. If she does not come out of it, then I will send the nanny away again.

I wait patiently for Austin's nanny to arrive. Cassie has not come down, and there have been no sounds coming from up the stairs in the master bedroom. They could both be sleeping soundly. It makes me nervous, and I leave Austin for a moment to go check on them both.

I peer in the master bedroom. Kate is sleeping, and Cassie is singing to her and the baby. Cassie looks over at me. "She is fine, Alpha Erick, but still sleeping," Cassie says to me.

I go back down the stairs to sit with Austin. He is such a sweet boy. Even after what his mother did, I hate that he has to live without her. It is not fair for anyone to live without their mother. Kate and I know the pain of a mother's love being absent. My mother had no love for me, not really. She was too busy being a bitch to love anyone other than herself, and Kate was robbed of her mother's love. I guess she and Austin have a lot in common.

Austin's nanny comes in the door. He beams and is happy to see her. "Thanks for coming," I say to the nanny.

"I missed him. I am happy to be back," the nanny says.

I leave Austin and his nanny, so I can sit with Kate and give Cassie a break. I go up the stairs into the master bedroom. Cassie is still singing to Kate and the baby.

"It seems to keep the baby calm. When I stop singing, the baby starts going crazy, Alpha Erick. So you better learn to hum to this baby," Cassie says.

"I will take note of that. Do you need a break?" I ask Cassie.

"No, Alpha Erick, I am not leaving here until she wakes up," Cassie says.

Cassie holds Kate's hand and continues singing songs to her and the baby. I watch Kate's baby bump moves as she sings. When she stops, the baby moves a lot. Cassie feeds Kate ice chips and checks her pillows. "Oh, little one, please let her wake up; we can keep her safe," I say to Kate and the baby.

Cassie lets go of Kate's hand. Something strange begins to happen as I take her hand. Kate starts making noises and then takes a deep breath and opens her eyes. She looks at me and screams, then sits up in the bed. "What happened?" Kate asks me. She looks over at Cassie and then back to me.

"You are fine, the baby is fine, everything is fine," I say to her.

"I saw my mother and Shawn. The wolves are back talking to me again. They were telling me that the pack doctor is trying to kill the baby and me. They said that no one could be trusted with this baby," Kate says to me. She is scared and confused as she wakes up from her extended sleep.

"There is not much staff in the house: only Cassie, the nanny, and myself. Shawn is coming by to see about you, but other than that, we have kept it to the minimum, trying to convince the baby to let you wake up," I say to her.

"The baby tried to wake me after the pack doctor was killed, but the medicine he was injecting me with was keeping me asleep. I guess it finally got out of my system," Kate says.

"We have to keep you and the baby safe. Alexander is on his way here to help you. I sent John and Trip to get him," I say to her.

"Why did you send for Alexander?" Kate asks.

I pull Kate into my arms and hold her tightly. "I know you and Alexander are not on good terms, but I really think he can help you and the baby, but I will not force you to see him if you do not want to see him," I say to her. "No, if you think it is for the best, then I will see him, but I need to talk to Shawn. I have a message for him from the imperial wolf ancestors," Kate says.

"I can go get him," Cassie says. She goes out of the master bedroom and leaves to go get Shawn so she can deliver her message.

"What is so important?" I ask Kate.

"The baby is part of a special breed of imperial wolf. This baby is to be the alpha of the imperial wolf pack. One pack, one Alpha, all of the imperial wolf packs will unite under our child. She is powerful," Kate says. "She?" I ask her.

"Yes, I saw her. I saw her as a baby and as a woman. She is beautiful and strong. She is a warrior, and she is powerful," Kate says to me.

"We are having a baby girl," I say excitedly.

"Yes, a baby girl, and she is to be named Alexandria Kathyrn Rainwater," Kate says.

I kiss Kate softly. If she saw our child's future, I already feel better about everything happening. Alexandria Kathyrn Rainwater, my baby girl, I will be the best father to you and teach you to be an excellent Alpha to your pack, I promise.
