The Last Royal Luna -
Chapter 54
The next morning we held the life celebration and it was beautiful. All of the families got to hear all of the great stories and memories that some of the pack had of their fallen family members. We prayed to the goddess to take care of their spirits and to bless the families. We burn their bodies on a wooden pyre so that the ashes went with the wind and spread all over nature. At the end we all shifted and went on a run. There was howling, play fighting, healing, and bonding during the run that was needed for everyone.
My mother showed up as the run was ending and had us take her to where we found the witches. She was lasered focused on getting there and taking care of business. She had brought some things with her and told us to leave her there so that she could bring this place back into goodness with a few spells and some healing of nature so she would be a couple hours. It would also help prevent other witches to use the now scared and scarred ground which could give them more power.
“Did you all want to have a mini history lesson after I am done here?” My mother askes as she placed crystals in a circle.
“We would love one. I know that I am still rattled by last night. I wish there were move wolves around that remember the war and how each battle went down. If we knew how the witches acted or how they used their magic it would help so much.” I stated as I leaned into Asher.
“I know, honey. Even the wolves that made it out alive the witches did what they could to erase that part of their memory or they messed with it so much they couldn’t tell up from down. After I heard some of the recounts from Alistair from the vampires attacks at the old pack grounds and the attack last night I believe they are acting in a similar manner. We will figure out a way to make all of us come out on top this time.” She nodded at me as she sat in the middle of the crystal circle and relaxed her mind and body. “This part I need to do alone. Give me a few hours and head back over. Id be ready to take some notes.”
We headed back to our house to have lunch and hang out but none of us really had anything to say. We were all in our heads either trying to figure things out or just stressing about what could of happened last night. All I could think about was that the pack kicked some vampire a*s and I caught my first glimpse of a bad witch.
“Do you think the packs we visit will be training hard or just ignoring the problem?” I asked as I finished my plate and put it in the dishwasher.
“I have heard from Julian that a few have called here to ask for help but when discussing what they needed help with they just wanted us to take care of it all. They aren’t prepared to defend themselves and when asked what they were going to do about it they didn’t have an answer. I think because the vampires have taken out some alphas with young kids they are gaining power before they are ready. I just pray to the goddess that they can figure it out or they ask for actual help. We don’t have the man power to send our warriors anywhere.” Andrew stated as he joined me at the counter with his plate.
“I know. It just sucks. We will visit as many as we can and the others that are too far away we video chat to figure it all out. I also have some out of the box ideas I want to run past you all but I will wait on it just a bit.” I didn’t even know how to start that discussion so tabling it for now.
We gave all of the pack time off minus the warriors who were on patrol duty. We switched to shorter shifts for each team so they all had a chance to relax and get ready to get back to work tomorrow. Even the kids got to stay home from school and just chill in the pack house. Tomorrow training was restarting with more wolves joining us because this can’t happen again. We were lucky only three were lost. Blue was agreeing with me in the fact that we couldn’t and wouldn’t let this happen again. We had to train harder and join more sessions which was going to go over great with the mates…Not.
We joined my mom back at the witches site and sat down ready to learn. She was finishing up a chant so we just watched her while we waited. I could see what looked like ripples of air around her which I am guessing was her magic. It was going down into the earth and it looked like the grass was getting greener. Mom kept slouching making it seem like she was getting drained and I began to worry.
“Mom I think that’s enough.” I try to stay calm and not let my feelings effect my tone of voice. She didn’t even acknowledge that I was speaking. I looked at my guys and they could see the worry in my eyes.
“Kelcie. Can you hear us? Your daughter is getting scared and its making us question your control as a witch.” I gave Blake a hard stare as he said this. He whispered in my ear about getting her pissed off enough to use her powers and losing her concentration on the chant. I nodded that I agreed.
“MOM GET THE HELL UP!” I tried to run over and get in her face but Knox held me back. Blue growled at him and my eyes turned a glowing purple. “Let me go if you value your hands.”
“I can’t. You don’t know what all that chant or magic can do. It might kill you and I can’t let that happen.” Knox looked me in the eyes showing his regret but I didn’t care.
I bit down on his arm that was holding my shoulders hard enough to draw b***d and him yank his arm away from me. I didn’t even look back. I just kept running until I leapt onto my mother feeling the burn of her magic and held her tight yelling to wake up out of her trance. She jerked her eyes open and looked at me before almost falling over from exhaustion with her eyes closing. Her magic had stopped so I was able to start healing from the burns.
“Call my dad, Asher. Andrew carry her to the pack doctor. Knox and Kane pack up this stuff. We don’t want anyone else to come upon it and try to do anything until we know what happened. My mother is always in control and this was not her doing. I can feel it.” I stood up and waited for Andrew to pick her up. I looked at the hurt in Knox’s face from what I had done but I wasn’t sorry. This was my mother and I wasn’t losing another one.
