Chapter 55

We ran toward the pack house clinic, and I couldn’t remember where it was. It felt like I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t see, and I felt like I wasn’t in control of my body. Almost like an out of body experience that completely sucked. I have already lost two parents I can’t lose anymore. Blake was leading me by pulling my hand behind him like a dog on a leash, but I didn’t even notice. Andrew was in front of us with my mother trying to run as fast as he could without her getting hurt with her head moving all around like a bobble head.

It wasn’t long before I heard voices and I noticed I was sitting in a chair between the twins. When the hell did this happen? They were both holding a hand and pushing out a calming feeling that wasn’t helping me. I looked up at them with a blank face to say thank you, but nothing came out. I was in shock and I didn’t know how to get out of it. I needed to get my s**t together so I could help my mom and help my dad take care of her if needed.

‘Blue? Are you there?” No response. I didn’t even feel her presence and I started to freak out! ‘Blue I need you! Where are you? PLEASE!’ It was like she was gone. I looked up to see the doctor speaking to my dad. When did he get here? Did he already see my mom?

‘Just now. I feel pain…weak…need sleep.” It was Blue but her voice sounded so far away. ‘Its ok, girl. Sleep. I will do my best to get my s**t together so you can do the same.’ No response but I knew she heard me.

“Dad?” I croaked. I realized I hadn’t stopped crying since starting the run here so my throat was raw and my nose was full of snot. It made me sound like a man and a goose hybrid. Good thing these guys have to love me and think I am the hottest girl out there because right now I look like I died after getting mauled by a big a*s dragon.

“Baby girl!” He ran over to me and picked me up into a bear hug. “Are you ok?” He stepped back and looked at my tear-streaked face. He looked over at all my mates with a scowl. “Did you let her cry this whole time? Why isn’t she with her mother? Why didn’t you use your calming abilities to help her through this?” He was starting to get riled up making my emotions rise even higher.

“Dad. It’s ok. I went into shock and barely made it here. They all did their part with calling you, carrying mom, and leading me in the right direction. I just lost it and went into break down mode. I need to see mom.” I pleaded with him. “Please. We need to help her any way we can.”

“I know. They are running a few tests and when they are done here in a few minutes we can go sit with her.” He put his forehead on the top of my head trying to get his breathing under control. “We need to be prepared for anything and only show the best support for your mom.”

“Of course. I think she will be ok. It just seemed like her powers knew how evil the witches were and how bad they treated the forest and its animals. Her magic was trying to fight all the bad things that were left there but she is only one witch so it drained her.” Saying that now is what wakes my brain up. That is what happened and she couldn’t stop it if she wanted. Her magic is something that is alive especially when surrounded by nature.

The doctor walked up before dad could respond. “Is that what happened? I couldn’t replace anything other than dehydration and exhaustion. I don’t have any tests to confirm anything.” He looked upset that he couldn’t replace out what was wrong and cure it. It made me instantly like him.

“It’s a thought that sounds true in my head to be honest. I think when my mother wakes up she will have more information. Can we see her yet?” The doctor nodded yes and told us the room number. Dad and I raced there with my guys not far behind.

“Where is Trixie, Dad?” When we got to the room I was a bit afraid to go in.

“She is with her friend Mason and his family. She was a bit scared and unnerved to be here since her parents died not long ago. Ill get her when this is more sorted. Now lets head in and give this exhausting woman some love.” He winked at the last part and pushed the door open. I looked behind me at my guys and they nodded with smiles.

We walked in and I pulled in a gasp when I saw my mother hooked up to a few different machines. It made me sad that my strong, independent momma was this weak. She was still asleep so I just sat in a chair next to her bed and held her hand. My dad sat on the other side and started talking to her. He was telling funny stories from their lives and several included clumsy me. It was making everyone laugh and that is what we needed so I made sure to tell a few stories of dad and the way he takes apart our appliances and puts them together wrong. He faked glared at me before laughing with us.

The guys left to get some things done and I sat with my mom for a couple hours just staring at her pushing for her to wake up. I wish I knew how to share magic or strength through some type of bond. I would have her up in no time but she heals as fast as a human which is a snails speed. Her breathing had gotten better and her color was back. Now it was a waiting game for her to wake up since her body was healing perfectly.

“Hey, Ryder. Can we come in?” Knox asked with Kane beside him at the door.

My dad waved his hand toward them telling them to come in. They both walked up and kissed my cheek. Dad made a disapproving noise which made me glare at him. He is such a protective dad. He chuckled before leaning back in his chair like he was getting ready to lecture the twins.

“Dad, stop it. They are my mates and they have done nothing wrong unlike the other two.” I g*****d at him. I instantly regretted my words when my dad’s face changed into anger.

“What do you mean unlike the other two? What did they do?” Knox sat down but held his body tense. I put my forehand in my hand and g*****d.

“We can discuss it later. Preferably when I can warn the two to run.” Kane looked at me after saying that and gave me a look that I knew I was spilling my guts later on.

“Ok. We will come back to that later. We were going to see about rescheduling our date tonight so you can stay here with your mother. Dad just needs a day in mind so he can call the places we are going.” Kane said as he looked at my mother and back at me. He knew this was rough on me and he understood the pain of losing a parent we didn’t even know.

“How about…” I began to suggest another date.

“Excuse me. My daughter won’t need to reschedule. She will still be going tonight.” My father interrupted me. I whipped my head around to face him in shock.

“Excuse me? Why would I be doing that?” I felt myself becoming angry. Why would he want me leaving? What if something happens to momma?

“Because your mother would want you to go. You know this. Her vitals are perfect. She is healthy again and all she is doing is resting. Two people don’t need to be here for that. When she wakes up she can call you and let you know. You deserve some time with your new mates and to finally be taken on a date outside of the pack lands.” He gave me a stern look and I knew I wasn’t going to win this argument.

“Ok.” I looked over at the twins before asking when to be ready.

“Umm… Reservations for dinner in two hours. Is that ok?” Knox seemed a bit more nervous since the comment about being a proper date.

“Ok. Let’s head to the house to get ready.” I leaned over and kissed my mom on the cheek. I gave my dad a big hug and walked out with the twins following me. I could do this. I could focus on these two and get in a happy place. My mother is fine. I kept repeating these three things as we walked to the house.

“Ok so what should I wear?” I walked into the living room and turned toward them.

Knox scratched the back of his head before answering. Kane looked away from me like they were scared to answer that. Now I was curious.

“What did you do?” I crossed my arms waiting for an answer.

“Umm The guys and us decided to have Sandra help pick you out an outfit while we were walking here. She is also going to help with hair and makeup so you can have someone to talk to and be able to focus on yourself. She said she is bringing you a gift.” Kane said.

“Really? OH MY GOSH! You guys are the best!” I ran to them and gave them a hug before making me the middle to their twin sandwich. A place I would love to be tonight. The guys sniffed the air and their eyelids dropped giving me a l**t filled look. I looked up and kissed Knox putting everything into it. He growled and grabbed my h**s harder pulling me into him. Kane pushed up against me and start kissing my mating marks. My whole body shivered.

“RYDER GET YOUR HORNY A*S UP THESE STAIRS SO WE CAN GET YOU DRESSED! BACK AWAY FROM THE ABS AND p*****s BEFORE I HAVE TO RIP YOU OFF THEM!” Sandra yelled from the top of the stairs. We all g*****d and looked up at her. She gave me a stern look with her hand on her h*p meaning she meant business. I laughed and ran up to her. Leaving the guys with issues of their own to handle.
