The Last Royal Luna -
(Book 2) – Chapter 3
Everyone is waiting by the cars when we walk up. Knox and Kane rush to my side pushing Charles behind Blake and Andrew like they are scared he is going to kill me now that I am finally back with all my mates. I swear these men don’t think with the right head or even the wrong one currently. Blue was over it and was pushing to take over so she could put them in the place with the lineup of power.
‘
THAT IS IT! I AM DONE DEALING WITH YOU BONEHEADS! YOU DIDN’T CLAIM US LIKE YOU SHOULD OF. NO ONE FOUGHT THE TWINS ON WHAT THEY DECIDED FOR ME. I AM NOT AN ARM PIECE FOR YOU TO PUSH TO THE SIDE WHEN YOU WANT. Charles came and had an actual conversation with us.’ Blue took a deep breath and whimpered, ‘ He actually listened and cared about what we thought and said. He gave us a choice and a voice in something unlike you lot. I am so disappointed and hurt.’ I couldn’t hold back the tears and all I wanted to do was run again.
Melissa pushed through my mates and their down ridden faces to pull me into a hug. “Your riding with us to the pack house. No jerks allowed.” She glared at all of them. “Charles thank you for replaceing her and helping her feel better. I am guessing we will be
seeing you around.”
“No thanks needed. Ryder is going to be a brilliant leader and I am excited to go into battle with such a strong and beautiful woman.” He winked at me and walked to his car throwing a quick wave at us. He just had to throw oil on the fire, but it made me laugh.
“Ryder what did you talk about with Charles?” Asher asked as he tried to grab for me but Melissa hit his hand away.
“You guys aren’t the only ones who can tell half truths and keep secrets from others.”
I just turned and got in the car with Melissa. Alistair had it out with the guys before getting into the car. I didn’t even try to listen because I was dealing with self-doubt. Having mates was a pain in the a*s. I kind of miss being single and not having this doubt in myself being able to be what they wanted and needed all the time. What they did not only made me doubt if I was doing enough to have them love me enough but if they even really wanted this besides the power boosts it gave them.
“Ryder, I love you. If you want me to, I will kick all their asses. Alistair will help, right?” She gave him a look that said don’t screw this up buddy. He just nodded and went back to driving. “We are only about an hour from the pack lands so get some rest and push all those negative feelings out of your head. I have known you too damn long to not know what you are thinking. You have done nothing wrong. This is on them and being men.”
“Hey!! I resent that!” Alistair yelped from the front sit but we just waved him off. He whispered something under his breath before going silent so we could talk.
“I know, Melissa. It just sucks. Everything has been so good between all of us and the first day out of the pack house with new people they don’t even claim me. Is that how it will be at the pack house? Should I hide my marks?” I looked down at the floorboard trying to hold in any new tears. I just wanted to go back to bed and restart the day.
“I say don’t even introduce them as your mates and see what they say about it. Let the ball be in their court to fix it. You just focus on you, replaceing more allies, experiencing the world, and replaceing your other two mates who better not as stupid as these ones are!” I nodded and leaned into her laying my head on her shoulder to try to sleep.
I couldn’t shut my brain off enough to sleep so Melissa and I sang songs from our favorite shows as kids all the way there. Alistair even joined in on a few but he will argue that he didn’t. When we pulled up to the pack lands they had warriors guarding the entrance. We were off to a good start if the were always protecting themselves like this. It was a long drive to where they pack actually lived so they were more hidden from strangers and danger should someone get passed the warriors. I saw a few wolves hiding and keeping an eye on us. I didn’t point them out but just kept a count in my head. They would need to hide better than that if they were under attack.
The pack house was huge like big time celebrity huge and it was well maintained. They had several parking spots off to the side of the house so we just picked the closest one and parked all together. Two warriors walked up and escorted us to the front door where the Alpha, Beta, and Beta female waited for us with a couple others. We stopped and put our bags down to introduce ourselves.
“Hello, Alpha Roger. Thank you for having us. It is nice to see you again.” Asher bowed his head in respect. I forgot this was one to the packs he had visited on his travels.
“Its an honor to have several Alpha’s from the same pack joining us. We only spoke briefly on the phone so I am not completely sure what this is all about.” He looked at all of us before speaking again. “You remember Beta Trevor and his mate, Sarah.” Asher nodded at them.
“Yes and it is nice to see you both. I know I was short on the phone but it was better in person to discuss all of it. We will only be in your hair for about a week, if that is still ok.”
“Of course. Please introduce the rest of your group.”
Asher looked at all of us and started with his brother. “This is my Brother, Andrew and his best friend, Blake. Both have Alpha b***d but don’t wish to run a pack. Next to them is Knox and Kane. They are also Alpha’s but have grown up taking care of the wolves and lands of the royals.” They all gasped at this. I could see who was thinking what powerful friends they would be and who was just curious about the royals. “We then have one of our beta’s Alistair and his Mate Melissa.” Melissa waved at them nervously.
“Is she a human or a witch? She smells different than a wolf.” Sarah asked. She had a small gleam in her eye and I wasn’t sure if it was to be trusted.
“I am a witch but I am on the wolves side.” She stood up straighter.
“I think we will be the judge of that. I will have my warriors take her for questioning. You shouldn’t have brought her here.” Alpha Roger spat out. Two warriors stepped forward to grab her but both Alistair and I stepped in front of her.
“Touch her and I will kill your warriors.” I looked at the Alpha straight in his eyes. I would bow to no one.
“That is not your place. This is my pack and my rules. If you wish to push me farther you can go with her and she can watch you be punished.” I could hear his judgement in his voice. He thought because I was female I would back down or that I was weak.
“Alpha Roger let’s clear the air. Melissa and Alistair are not staying here. They are meant to meet with a coven who wants to help us in the upcoming war against vampires and the dark witches.” Asher rushed forward between all of us. I looked at the ground pissed that he didn’t say anything in my defense.
“They can leave when I say they can.” He walked forward and shoved Asher to the side to try to get to Melissa.
