The Lycan Series -
Bullied By The Lycan King Chapter 52
Axel's
POV
Emily had managed to gather all Alphas and Beta who still wished to remain under my command in the mansion for an emergency meeting.
As everyone gave their opinions on what they felt was the right approach to end this new revolution, there was only one thing on my mind and that was how I was going to end Fergus for daring to backstab me.
He couldn't even have picked someone random. Not even one of the humans he hated so much, he decided to take Hilda.
"We need to call for a dialogue. It will be less bloody," Beta Moses said. He had a small pack just beyond the new capital and everyone knew how much of a coward he was.
"Are you afraid of spilling blood, Beta Moses?" Aaliyah sneered her stern gaze fixed on him.
Murmurs erupted from the men and women on the table and I could see Aunt Emily preparing to stir even more drama.
"You do not wish for a blood bath after what we have been through!" His shaky voice boomed above the murmurs in the small gathering.
"The last blood bath was fifteen years ago Moses. Surely you are not afraid, are you?" Aaliyah continued.
"I am not afraid. I am only trying to replace the best option here, my King!" He hissed, turning to me. There was a fire in his tone that held the room making everyone listen to him.
"I know you all think I am weak. But my pack did not survive the revolution by vying for even more blood! We survived because we found the smarter way out!"
"By holing up in a cave and pretending like the rest of the world doesn't f*****g matter?" Emily snarled and the attention in the room got shifted at once.
Beta Moses opened and closed his mouth like a fish as he searched for a good comeback to give but I knew it was futile. No one ever won against Aunt Emily.
"Tell me Beta Moses, how did you survive? Do you think if everyone took your advice and fucking hid somewhere, we will be here today? Ooh... I fucking get it," she continued. "You are afraid, war will mean you could get f*****g killed because that's the same f*****g way, your alpha died. Am I f*****g wrong?"
Beta Moses became red in the face as air filled up within him and he had no way of letting it out.
If the situation was different, I would have laughed it off but Hilda's life was in danger and the entire kingdom was in danger.
"Aunt Emily," I said, my voice deep and heavy with emotions. "Let Moses be. We have more important matters to talk about..."
She scoffed and relaxed into her chair by my side, while Beta Moses could barely raise his head anymore. This was probably going to be his last meeting. He was a coward and was not worthy of being a leader at all. But he had a point in a way.
"We will need to come up with a way to lure this new bastard king to the neutral ground, to reduce possible casualty," I said and everyone in the room nodded -even Moses.
But the determinetion in her eyes only grew et my words. "Even the more reeson why pleying the victim cerd will b
"But before then, we still have to retrieve Hilda. We need Intel on their side. We need to plant someone who can get us the information we need," I said looking into their eyes.
Naturally, I would have preferred sending Greg. But everyone knew Greg would rather die than betray me. They would kill him on sight if he went to their camp.
Another person was Aunt Emily, but she even had a stronger connection to me as my only family. They would kill her.
Next, there was her husband, Monty. As much as I hated him, he had a good history of betraying people and that was the very reason why they wouldn't believe him.
"I'll go," Aaliyah suddenly said and my eyes moved towards her. "I'll be the mole. I will go to Fergus and claim that I wanted to join him."
I knew I could trust Aaliyah. She had worked by my uncle's side for so many years. She also fought alongside my father long before the human revolution but I was sceptical.
"Aaliyah, everyone knows about your history with my father. I don't think they will believe you..." I said, shaking my head.
But the determination in her eyes only grew at my words. "Even the more reason why playing the victim card will be in my favor. Let me do this, my King," she said.
"She is the best candidate we have at the moment Axel and she is a good soldier," Greg said by my side.
I turned to look at him and I saw that his eyes were fixed on her like they were having a silent conversation.
"Okay. You will represent us," I finally agreed.
We were about to move on to discuss our next plan when the door to the meeting room suddenly burst open and two guards ran inside, causing almost every man in the room to jump to their feet in panic -every man except me.
"My King, I am sorry to barge in like this but they just brought Miss Hilda... We just moved her to the clinic. She is not in a very good condition," he said.
As the news got to me, my eyes darkened as anger flowed through.
"This meeting is adjoined," I growled as I got to my feet at once and started heading out.
I could hear the echoes of boots behind me and I didn't need to check to know that it was Greg and Aunt Emily coming behind me.
As I got close to the clinic, they got up with me and I noticed that Aaliyah was also with them.
"She is in the last Ward with Jasper, My King," the guard said and I quickly made my way there.
As I got in, pain clutched at my heart. Her body was covered with bandages and I could merely make out her face as Jasper and some of the nurses around worked on her.
The machines were beating so loud it reminded me of the time when Greg found me in the human's dungeon. He had taken me to a certain clinic and Sara had quickly started working on restoring my wolf whom the humans had restrained, preventing me from healing from all the cuts they had inflicted on me.
Little Hilda had remained by my side, holding my hands till my body felt strong again.
As I watched her body on the bed, I was moved with regret. I had failed to protect her. I had failed to fulfill my promise to Sara.
"Fergus must die!" I growled as I burst out of the ward, blinded with rage but Greg stopped me.
"Axel!" He hissed, holding me tight.
"Let me Go, Greg! I have to kill that fool for doing this to her!" I roared, as my heart contorted with even more pain.
It felt like the more I talked about it, the harder it became for me to accept it.
"If you go and attack him and they capture you, what are we going to do without you?" He roared. "We need you! We need a king!"
My hands folded into fists and my claws emerged tearing into my skin. The metallic smell of blood filled the air and all I wanted to do was scream in anger but I held it back.
"You have always said you want to keep the kingdom together till your father comes... Do you think he will want a kingdom where his son is nowhere alive?"
"What do you suppose I do, then?!" I hissed, finally pulling away from him but this time, I didn't intend to move out of the mansion anymore.
I felt weak. I felt broken.
"This is insulting! I can't just sit back and watch Fergus do as he pleases! The next f*****g time he is going to march in here and hurt someone else!"
My mind suddenly pulled up an image of Violet. If Fergus dared to harm even a single hair on her head, I was going to burn down his pack and I didn't even care if there were innocent wolves there.
"We are not sitting back. We are going to attack. But we are not going to let our emotions control us!" He said.
I moved away from him and started heading to my office. I needed to think.
"How soon can Aaliyah be prepared to infiltrate them? We need to know how many men he has and who this new Lycan is..." I said as I settled into my seat.
"I will prepare her right away. She can leave first thing tomorrow morning," Greg replied.
Since that was sorted, I decided to ask the question that had been eating up at me. "Where is Violet, is she safe?"
A smile appeared on his face but he quickly hid it away and nodded. "Yes, last I checked she was with the slave supervisor at the clinic," he said and my brows furrowed as a fresh wave of anger coursed through me. "What the fuck is she doing with Sam at the clinic?"
