The Lycan Series
Bullied By The Lycan King Chapter 53

Violet's POV

I had almost gone mad when I saw his office empty but Emily had rolled her eyes and walked to a room farther from his office, we found him, sitting in a corner trying to treat himself but he was completely pale from the pain. The horror on my face was enough for Emily to understand and she had helped me move him to the clinic.

I was sitting in the ward in a corner as I watched Sky cry over him. The doctor had been very kind and he helped him. He told us that we just had to give him time to recuperate and he would be as good as new.

There was truly nothing to worry about but Sky was very theatrical, she had screamed the roof off when she got here and she had refused to stop crying since. It was almost as if Sam was dead when he was only sleeping. I tried to console her but I decided it was best, she made peace with her mind.

Noises filled the corridor and I turned to watch what was going on from the window when I saw guards moving with someone. I thought it must have just been one of their comrades that got injured or something.

But when another set of heavy boots hurried down the hall, I knew something was happening.

"Sky, give me a minute..." I said and started heading out of the ward.

"Where are you going?"

I glanced back at her and considered telling her about the commotion outside but thought against it. The last thing I needed was another scream from her.

"I am thirsty. I'll just get water down the hall. You want a bottle?" I asked her instead and she nodded.

I flashed her a tightlipped smile and quickly made my way out of the ward. I followed the direction in which the guards had gone. Nurses were moving in and out of the ward and my brows raised as I wondered who it could be that everyone was so worried about.

I moved to the small window by the ward and I looked inside. There was someone on the bed but they were bandaged from their head to toe, I could barely make out their face.

"Excuse me, you shouldn't be here." I heard someone say behind me and I turned around to replace a nurse.

"Oh, I was just... May I please know who that is?" I asked her. "That is Hilda."

The reply came but it wasn't from the nurse, it was Emily.

The nurse gave her a bow before walking away from us.

My heart immediately clenched painfully as I turned back to the window and looked at her once again. Now that I knew who she was, I began to see the familiarity in her features. "Oh my God, what did they do to her?" I cried out.

"Well, I can't fucking say but Jasper says they might have suppressed her f*****g wolf. So she can't f*****g heal."

I could feel the anger in her voice as she spoke and as much as I wanted to just take in this information and push it off somewhere, I couldn't help but feel weird about it.

The idea of taking the werewolves' wolves away to prevent them from tapping into their inner strength and abilities was something my father came up with. They had done it to Axel and some of the other wolves too.

A frown sat on my face as my head started working at a very fast rate. Something wasn't right here.

Emily had said that the enemy that was attacking hated humans. How could they hate humans yet use something only my father knew about?

I had to speak to my parents. My father must know something about this.

Without thinking, I turned away from the window and started heading down the corridor but I didn't take more than two steps forward before Emily grabbed my hands.

"Where do you think you fucking are going so fast?" She asked, her eyes fixed on my face like she had lost something.

I felt suddenly irritated by her. I snatched my hand out of her hold and tried not to roll my eyes.

"I am going to my room. Am I not allowed to move freely?" I asked, daring her to come up with something.

Her eyes narrowed and she took a step closer to me.

"No, Violet. You are not fucking allowed to move around freely anymore. Haven't you f*****g noticed, we are at war! And that means anybody is a target!" She yelled. "But I-"

"No, fucking buts! I will walk you myself and then I will assign a guard at your door. You are not to go anywhere without him!"

All I wanted to do was scream at her but I couldn't or she would have another reason to punish me further. So, I clenched my teeth and continued walking.

I grabbed a bottle of water from the water dispenser as we moved and I could feel her questioning glares on me but I ignored it.

Just before we passed Sam's ward, I stopped and pulled the door open.

"What the fuck is this about?" Emily cursed behind me and I turned an innocent eye to her.

"I just want to give Sky water..." I said with a nonchalant shrug.

Sky was surprised to see Emily with me. She quickly got to her feet and bowed.

Emily scoffed and walked out of the ward. "I'll be outside. Be fucking fast about it," she said with a click of her tongue

At this, I couldn't stop myself, I rolled my eyes at her as I passed Sky the water.

"Why does she always curse?" Sky mouthed and gave her a small smile.

"She is a psychopath," I replied in the same tone and Sky giggled.

I tapped her shoulder and smiled wider;

"I'll be going back to my room if you need anything. Let me know," I said and she nodded.

But just as I was walking toward the door, Axel's angry voice filled the corridor and I froze.

"Where is she?" He roared.

I turned back to look at Sky who instantly turned pale. She moved to Sam and held his hands tight as Axel's voice got closer.

He must have found out what I did and now, he was certainly coming to finish Sam off for good. My mind reminded me of what Emily had said and my heart skipped a beat knowing that she was outside and she could possibly poison his mind into doing worse. Quickly, I pulled the door open and stood in front of it.

"I am here! I am right here!" I said with my hands raised above my head.

Emily was standing by the wall, not far from the door and Axel was directly in front of her while Greg was behind him.

Axel left Emily and marched down to where I was. His nose flared with so much anger, I could immediately feel the heat as it took over the space around me.

"Where is that fool?" He growled to my face. He looked like he would chew out Sam if he saw him and at that moment I decided I would rather die than let him go through that door.

"Axel, please... Let me explain," I begged, hoping to get through to him.

His eyes fixed on mine and as if he was seeing me for the first time, they roamed over my body. They stopped on my legs and moved back up to my face.

"I told him to stay away from you and he disobeyed my orders..."

"No! I disobeyed! I and your aunt Emily!" I said, hoping to throw some of the fire at her. She deserved it for being so hard on me.

I expected to see fear in her eyes but she only scoffed and leaned on the wall watching Axel question me.

"Sam didn't do anything. You broke his fingers and your guards left him to die in the slave quarters I had to save him... I had to do something and your aunt Emily helped me!" I added it at the end.

Axel didn't seem to be getting the message his eyes only remained on me. He drew closer and I was forced to move against the door.

"Why do you care so much about him?" His eyes were a shade of green so dark, I could barely make out the green in them anymore.

But this didn't scare me. Rather it pissed me off. I was angry that he was asking such baseless questions and I was angry that his so-called aunt and beta Greg did nothing to stop him from hurting an innocent man. Axel's hands slapped the wall around the door frame, caging me between his chest.

"Answer me, Violet... Why do you care so much about what happens to him? Who is he to you?"

My heart swelled as my anger became unbearable and I pushed at his chest

"No, Axel!" I yelled. "Why do you care about what I care about? What is your business with who he is to me!?"
