The Lycan Series
Bullied By The Lycan King Chapter 17

Axel's POV

"The vehicles move out in thirty minutes, Axel," Greg informed me.

I nodded as I moved beside him. We were heading out to meet this veiled woman on the west coast, who had decided to bring trouble upon herself.

"I hope you didn't forget to inform Aaliyah that she will be moving with us. She should be ready to replace this woman. I'd rather have her there than some strange woman," I said and Greg nodded. "Everything has been prepared as you instructed," he replied.

Everything was in order and I should be mounting the vehicles but I found myself heading in the direction of the slave quarters. I felt Greg's aura shift from beside me but I ignored him.

I had to give Sam instructions on how to handle the slaves in my absence. I could have sent Hilda. I could have even sent Greg, but I wanted to do this myself.

A single guard was with us and he pushed the door to the quarters open.

My eyes scanned the general area, hoping to see her but she wasn't there with the rest of the slaves preparing to start their day-but I could pick up her scent in the building.

My wolf frowned and a feeling I couldn't comprehend pushed to the forefront of my actions as I marched heavily through the corridors, ignoring the respectful bows the shaken slaves were given as I walked in their building.

As we neared Sam's office, I could feel her and the mere idea she was in his office angered me.

As soon as the guard pushed the door open, I marched in. My eyes immediately noticed the quick movements of his hand from the table where hers lay.

Was he touching?

As I moved toward him, my wolf was filled with just one thought to tear his throat apart and break those fingers that he had dared lay on her.

But I decided against it, at the last second.

It would make no sense for me to kill my slave supervisor because he was touching a slave.

"Why the hell is she here?" I asked instead.

"I... I was assigning duties to them... My king..." He stuttered, looking around like he had lost something.

My anger returned and I was close to just tearing him apart. "Duties are now assigned behind closed doors?"

Suddenly I felt a strong arm on my right shoulder and I turned sharply to meet Greg's wise eyes, silently telling me to drop it. I shrugged him off and returned my focus to Sam.

"I have told you what to do with her. Stick it with and do not for any reason assign her duties in your office," I hissed.

"Yes sir!"

I opened my mouth again to say what I had come for and it was at that moment I realized that I had nothing to say. My legs had carried me there because I wanted to see Violet and not the instructions I had convinced myself I was coming to give. But I would never admit that not even to myself.

"Is there anything you would like him to do, my King?" Greg asked and I knew he was only trying to snap me out of my thoughts.

I started heading to the door, only stopping as I got in front of Violet.

"I will be leaving for a few days. Make sure everything is in order. I don't have to remind you of the consequences!"

Just before I passed her, I noticed her blue eyes on me for just a few seconds.

I could have stopped. I could have reached out to her but I frowned and walked out of the office, refusing to give in to the force pulling me to her.

I went straight to the vehicle at the center and got in. Greg got in after me and soon enough, we started riding away from the mansion.

My face was still in a frown as my brain continued bringing up images of Sam touching Violet's hand.

I should have had his f*****g hand cut!

"I hope whatever it is you are thinking is about our destination..." Greg said, his gruff voice cutting through my thoughts.

I snapped my head in his direction and then I turned it outside as if my brain was just acknowledging the fact that we were now a good distance away from home.

"How far away are we?" I asked, hiding the fact that I wasn't thinking about our destination or even paying attention to our surroundings at all.

"About an hour away," Greg responded.

I could feel his eyes on me but I focused my attention on the window, hoping he would just give up on me and turn his eagle eyes on something else.

"Nathan sent word this morning," he blurted and this time I turned to him, with hope rising within me.

"He has been able to replace traces of your aunt Emily..."

The frown I had on my face faded and I scooted closer to him. "She is alive, right?"

"Nathan has reasons to believe she is. He found Montgomery."

My brows raised as a surge of happiness coursed through me. "Monty? Her mate!"

The nickname brought a smile to Greg's face and he nodded. "Yes, Monty was found in the deserted lands on the northern coast. He and Nathan have now joined forces in the search. Your aunt will be found soon," he said. I relaxed into my seat, unable to hide my smile.

"That is great news."

If Aunt Emily returned to me alive there was a very strong possibility that my mother was alive too.

I could still remember that night when the invasion happened. My mother kept me and my siblings in the secret compartment under my bed while she and Aunt Emily protected us till the very end. Even when the humans overpowered them, they refused to say where we were.

When they took them away, it was Dawn who took us down the safe path, though she didn't make it, she made sure that we did.

"I pray they all return to us..." I whispered.

"We will all be reunited in this life or the next," Greg mumbled and I knew he was talking about his sister, whom we lost that day. "We will..." I replied.

Silence lingered between us again as we each became lost in our thoughts of the past.

"Well, at least Emily is coming. She will help me keep you focused on getting an heir or maybe even a mate," Greg said with a slight laugh lacing his voice.

"I am already working on getting an heir Greg," I hissed, rolling my eyes at him.

He knew how to ruin a perfect moment in seconds. We were both just reminiscing on what we have lost but he had to ruin it by speaking of mates and heirs.

"How about the human princess, Violet, don't you want to try reproducing with her?" Greg's annoying voice filled the car once again. "How about the human princess, Violet, don't you want to try reproducing with her?" Greg's annoying voice filled the car once again. I narrowed my eyes at him like he had grown a second head. "She is human!" I pointed out. "So?" He shrugged. "She has a womb." He cried out.

"If werewolves are having a problem getting pregnant, do you think a mere human can do it?" "You are forgetting the mate part of the equation..." He added, with a smug look on his face.

As I glared at him, I realized where the conversation was headed.

"You know mates are not my thing. Even the goddess herself should be aware of this fact. Please do not f*****g bring it up!" I growled. He shrugged his shoulders again like what I said had nothing to do with him. "Yet your wolf leads you to her every time..." He retorted. "Greg!" I warned, my voice shaking with anger.

He waved his hand as if dismissing my emotion. "You don't have to get so worked up. You are young, sometimes it is always like this..."

He turned his eyes to the window and they got distant like he could see things I couldn't. "Your father had the same look when he saw your mother... Avalyn was the most beautiful girl to walk those walls. Talon couldn't help the pull that sizzled between them. He found himself running back to her, every single time."

"Greg, that has nothing to do with me, alright? I am not my father and Violet is certainly not my mother!"

"I never said that," he said, his neck turning to look at me. "I just want you to realize that sometimes, we can't run from the pull... No matter how much we deny it."

His words weighed down in my heart. And my wolf flipped over like it had finally gotten the support it needed but I shut it down.

I had more important things to worry about.

I ignored his stares and turned to look out the window. We were already on the west coast.

It was one of the first settlements to get attacked during the revolution, and the signs still remained.

Some of the houses had been rebuilt but the rumbles still told a story written in blood and tears.

The palace stood tall at the very end of the settlement and the closer we got, the more familiar it became. I remembered when my father brought me to meet his cousin, Jared.

It didn't look much different from that time, that was if one didn't pay attention to the rumbles packed by the side.

The vehicle came to a stop and I didn't wait for the guards to pull the door open before I stepped down.

I wanted to get over this meeting and leave as soon as possible. Being around the familiar walls of the old castle, brought back painful memories, I didn't want to dwell in. Suddenly, a group of guards marched forward and quickly positioned themselves into a straight line, and then they bowed respectfully at me.

"Where is your leader?" I asked the first guard on the line.

"She knows you are here to apprehend her my King. She requests for a few moments alone."
