The Lycan Series -
Bullied By The Lycan King Chapter 25
Violet's POV
"What do you want here?" I asked my eyes scanning behind her to see if she came with Hilda.
When I saw that she was alone, my heart skipped a beat and I looked at her cautiously.
"I asked you a question. What do you want?"
Her veil moved around her face and I imagined she smirked at my condition. I was like a scared little cornered pup in her eyes but I refused to be intimidated by some woman in a veil. "Uhh..." She whispered her fingers moving in front of me. "So much attitude for a slave..."
My hands fisted and I pointed a finger at her.
"Look, I heard everything that they said about you. You are no better than I am and I will not tolerate-"
My words died at once the moment her fingers turned into sharp claws and pointed dangerously at my neck. How she had moved so fast, I couldn't even fathom.
"Shhhh... What you heard were mere words my dear, do not think you can disrespect me!" She hissed her voice no longer the soothing one I heard in the throne room.
It was like they were two different people. The sweet woman in the throne room only wanted to help that King and this strange woman that emitted evil vibes.
I swallowed hard as I felt her sharp claws push slightly to the sore skin on my neck where Axel had tried to squeeze my life out of me.
"Now, let's start from the top," she said, pulling her claws into her fingers.
I took a good step away from her, making sure she wouldn't just pounce on me like she did before again.
She moved with poise to the bed and sat herself down. She crossed her legs and brought her hands to rest on her knees like my mother tried to teach me so many times in the past. "I want to help you, Violet," she said, her veil raising in my direction.
I felt sweat begin to form on my forehead. I wasn't stupid. She had just offered to perform a ceremony that would help state out the killer and now she was saying she wanted to help me. "If you think you will get me to confess to some crime that I didn't commit then you are wasting your time!" I fired.
She let out a soft chuckle that sounded like crashing waves on shore.
"I know you didn't do it, that's why I am here... Offering my help," she said and this time my eyes narrowed on her black veil.
"Why will you want to help me? You are a werewolf. You kind of hate mine!"
What did this woman take me for? Some pretty face without a brain?
She waved her left hand in the air and brought it back to her knees again. "You are smart, Violet -that's what they call you right, Violet?"
My shoulders stiffened and I stood with my back straight as I tried to cover up the fear that was starting to move inside of me. This woman could be playing a very dangerous game here. Werewolves were known to be very tricky.
"I know you are the lost princess Aaliyah had been keeping for the highest bidder. I also know that you want to save your parents... What I didn't know..." She trailed as she got up and started coming towards me with precise steps.
I found my entire being unable to move as I stood frozen in place watching this woman circle me like a predator. I felt like I was back in the slave market and another patron was there to buy a new slave as she moved around me.
She knew everything there was to know about me and my heart was beating at a thousand beats per second as I waited impatiently for her to speak.
But she was more interested in letting her movement rile me up than speaking the words she let hang in the air.
"What didn't you know?" I hissed.
She stopped moving and brought her fingers to my jaw and then she raised it so that I was looking up to her tall frame.
"I didn't know you would be so useful to me, dear Violet..." Her voice was suddenly as cold as ice and I felt goosebumps appear on my arms as I looked up at her veiled face.
"If you work with me, I will help you escape death today and for many more days to come, my dear..."
She truly meant what she was saying, I could feel the conviction in her voice. But it didn't make sense to me.
"But you are a werewolf... Why would you want to help a human girl?" I whispered as my heart rose to my throat.
She corked her head to the side and dropped her fingers from my jaw. "I hate humans. I can't stand them but..."
She started walking to the small window at the corner of the room and held her fingers together like a queen about to give a speech to her people.
"Ever since the revolution... They gave me hope. I was in a place where I thought I had no one to turn to anymore but the revolution gave me a second chance..."
She turned toward me and I could tell she was smiling. "I am going to use this opportunity because like they say, not many doors open at the same time... And you my dear, can help me..."
My bitter feeling filled my throat and I took a step closer to her. "What sort of help are you talking about?"
"Smart girl," she whispered and returned to her initial position on the bed. Her movements were soon becoming like the rehearsed dance of an old play.
"We will talk about my plan after we succeed today. Accept working with me and I will save you. Refuse and you will die."
"Axel will never kill me!" I blurted before I could stop myself.
She threw her head back and chuckled. "You sound like the six year old you..." She said and I felt my blood turn cold.
"Axel will never kill me! He is my friend! He can't hurt me!" She said in a distorted voice that was supposed to sound like little me.
How did she- "Were you in my father's castle?" My breathing was becoming faster as I glared at her.
If she was in my father's castle, then she shouldn't try helping me... Unless...
"Like I said, we will talk about my story, after tonight. What I just want you to know is that you are not six anymore and Axel isn't the little boy you played around with in the berry forest. He is a man now and the monster your mother used to warn you about is alive in him... He will not blink before he kills you..."
Beads of sweat were starting to trickle down my face as I looked at her. A part of me searched inside my memories for a time when a woman like her had been in my life.
How did she know so much about me?
"Make up your mind Violet..." Her voice sang in my head.
"Do you really think, dear Axel will kill his men when he has gotten a perfect opportunity to kill you before your parents..."
Images of Axel torturing my father flashed before my eyes and I shook my head.
"You are a smart girl... Make the right choice. Hilda can only defend you to a certain point... She can't go beyond that..."
I wet my lips and tried to focus on the problem before me. I didn't kill Hera but what if this woman was right? What if Axel believed Savannah, rather than me?
"Think about your parents. Once you die... Their souls will die with you. They worked so hard trying to protect you but unfortunately, you got replace out too... Now, what do you think will happen?"
"Shut up! Okay? Just shut up and let me think!" I yelled, placing my hand on my temples.
She got up and started moving to the door. "My time here is up. Make up your mind Violet. What's it going to be?"
I ran my fingers through my hair and took a deep breath. I had to be smarter than her. Even if she helped me today, I was not going to be indebted to her in any way because I didn't commit any crime. I didn't kill anyone.
And she was right. I couldn't die now. If I died, my parents were going to be at Axel's mercy.
"Fine. Help me!" I called out to her and retreating form.
She paused at the door and turned to look at me. "Smart choice, Violet. I can't wait to start working with you..." She whispered before she pulled the door and walked out.
