The Lycan’s Rejected Mate -
Chapter 193
Caliana's
POV
He was sure of his words and it astonished me. He won't be seeing any other women.
"If you and I are to lead this pack, we don't need to hurt each other, especially with these damn rumors of vampires lurking around our territories these days," He said softly and I gasped, vampires are back? Since when? Vampires were eradicated from our realm decades ago by the Lycan elder council and the wizard king because they fed on human blood and attacked shifters.
"What? How?"
"I don't know, rumors are that they are back and might want vindication in the families involved in chasing them," He informed me.
He went to the bedroom, and I followed.
"So what's going to happen?"
"Send them back to hell where they crawled out of or just kill their leader however, the old wizard king is confident he can deal with them," The witch covens and shifters are not enemies but they don't get along so they each stay on different parts, they never mingle except when they have a common goal. Witches live in a barrier on the Eastern coast.
"I forgot they existed," I murmured.
"Because we never interact," He grumbled.
"But everything will be alright," Edward assured me. I nodded and he cupped my face.
I was surprised when he kissed me on my lips and smiled.
"Tomorrow we are receiving some guests; the elders are going around packs to do a usual inspecting and I don't want them having anything to gossip about especially since they are worried that I'll retaliate after what the Black Stone's attack," "But you already resolved it, didn't you?"
"Yes, but they are still wary, they don't believe I just agreed to resolve it like that knowing the bad blood between our packs, they try to prevent pack wars," Indeed, they haven't been pack wars because of the elder council that maintains the peace. "They think you have a hidden agenda against the Black Stone Pack," I whispered
"Yes,"
"Do you?" I gave him a skeptical look.
"No, fighting with them is not exciting anymore and I have bigger things to focus on and that's why, I agreed to attend the ball the Black Stone is hosting this year," He sighed. I had so many questions to ask him about Love's other family but I didn't want him to know I am in contact with Alpha Dean Henderson. We have just made up... I think. I couldn't believe what was happening. We talked like he just didn't want to murder me last night! He seemed so calm and in thought. I cleared my throat "I should leave," I said.
"You should stay here... I mean the elders will be here tomorrow and it would look weird if we stayed in different rooms," He said. I nodded slowly and a small smile tugged on my lips. He went to his mini bar and poured himself a drink. I followed suit and he gave me a glass of whiskey that I gulped, he raised his eyebrows and poured me another.
"I'll ask Lena to make room for me here in the closet for a few days. The elders will be here then," He nodded and drank his drink.
We were drinking and talking, we talked but I don't even remember what. It was beautiful and I was smiling. We were both sitting on the carpet, our backs against the wall as he passed me my shots.
I slept in his room as I was too drunk to walk to mine. The next day, I woke up with a headache so I had to take a lot of water and pills for a hangover.
"Whiskey is not my drink," I murmured and a chuckle resounded not far from me, the Alpha walked out of the ensuite bathroom and water was dripping from his body, I chewed my bottom lip as I admired him. His body rippled with masculinity and he smirked when he caught me staring at him. I blushed and turned away from him.
"We have guests coming," He reminded me and I nodded, asking Lena if he prepared my clothes. I went to shower, I took my time in there and when I came out, I was pleased to replace my clothes in the walk-in closet properly hung. The closet was huge and smelled just like Edward, I walked over to the section where he kept his suites. He had all kinds of designer brands and different types of them. I picked one and inhaled it, making my wolf purr. She loved his fragrance and so did I. I opened a few drawers and found my panties, in a section where my clothes were. I picked out a cute one and wore it before picking up a n**e dress. It hugged my body well and I brushed my hair down and wore comfortable heels before going to meet my mate. The brothers were already outside except for Jamal. I wondered where he was, I still wanted to speak to him about what he told me at the border.
"Where's Jamal?" I asked Marcos.
"You won't be seeing him for a while," He said and I peered at him
"But why?"
"He's avoiding a certain lovely lady,"
"Who?" Marcos didn't want to talk about his brother's business anymore so he didn't answer and asked me about my business.
"Is it true you and my brother are sharing a suite now?" He was excited and I nodded.
"I knew he'll fall harder for you sooner or later,"
"It's not like that, it's just for when- " He cut me off with a wave of his hand.
"Bla bla bla. It's about time you guys acted like the mates you are, and I'm glad about it. You're a kind lady," I smiled at his words, he looked at me and then at his brother who was listening to our conversation but pretended not to when I looked at him. "I didn't know you liked me," I said.
"Not really, but I'm rooting for you. Marcus and I made a bet, he said you won't last six months and I said otherwise, by the way, things are moving, I might just get his fishing boat," He beamed.
"Um, thanks for the honesty?" I said, frowning. He smiled.
"You're welcome and thanks for the expensive fishing boat I'm soon to get because of you," I only shook my head and stood closer to the Alpha when the SUVS started to arrive.
