Edward's POV "Alpha Edward," A voice from the shadows called, and we turned to the voice. The man in the shadow was wearing a robe that covered his face and I could smell the stench of death all the way there. "Amacus, in the flesh," Anaiah muttered.

"Of course, my dear, you have something of mine," He told her. What was going on? I opened my senses and that's when I sensed it, dark magic engulfed this whole area. The man he called Amacus had witches next to me and the rogues were being controlled by them.

"You were too young to remember this but you mistakenly took my magic and the only way to get it back is... Draining it out of you," He chuckled. Anaiah was in pain as the dark magic was directed at her. I must admit that she was a strong one to even start and exchange words with this man.

"I don't like the sound of that so... I'll pass," The Queen shrugged.

"Alpha Edward, leave if you want to see your mate again," Amacus said and I was stunned by his word, how did he know about my mate?

I shifted back to my human form "Who the f**k are you?" I growled.

"The only man who can give you what you desire... We can make a deal, all you have to do is give her to me without a fuss but remember I will take her anyway," He bargained or tried to. My gaze trailed to the Queen, she eyed me, also waiting for what I'd choose. "Where is my mate?" "First, the Lycan Queen,"

For a moment I was in turmoil. I could give Anaiah, my new friend, my cousin's mate, and our queen to him and I can have my mate, the woman I want badly by my side, my love, and unborn child.

"You want me to betray my Queen," I murmured, glancing at the woman who watched me carefully, she didn't show any emotions.

"You will miss the birth of your child. How long till the little Lycan starts to call another man Daddy," Amacus was pressing my buttons, and my anger was rising

"You know where my mate is," My resolve is weakening,

"No, but I can locate them, it can take less than five minutes,"

Queen Anaiah stumbled and almost fell but I grabbed her. Her skin was pale.

"What did you do to her?"

"A small spell to weaken her for a few minutes, she's a pretty tough thing that one I tell you, that's why we need to hurry. Do we have a deal or not?"

"How long will she be in this state?" I asked.

"Five to ten minutes at best... still perfecting the spell, I'm afraid,"

"Okay,"

"So you'll give her to me without a fight?"

I had Amacus' attention now.

"I'm mulling, you want me to betray my cousin, the king, and the whole Lycan community, do you know the repercussions of that?"

"No one needs to know about our little deal and honestly, Anaiah won't come back once she goes home with me," The wizard informed. Anaiah struggled out of my grip but I held her still, pinching her to silently ask her to trust me. I didn't risk mind linking because I didn't know if the witches could see so I allowed Ward to speak to her wolf. I would fight the rogues confidently and win but it was the witches I was worried about.

She mentioned she could open a portal so I was hoping she gathered enough strength to do that.

"I don't make deals with men who hide their faces," I told the wizard, and slowly, Amacus approached. He removed his cloak and Anaiah gasped, part of his jawline and ear were burnt.

"Now do we have a deal," I nodded and approached him with Anaiah in my arms. Amacus smirked wickedly but before we could reach him, I felt a surge of energy around us and a blue light appeared in front of us. Amacus screamed just as Anaiah pushed me into the portal and we appeared right in the middle of the busy city. Cars honked at us and my first instinct was to carry her to safety.

"You weren't kidding about having special abilities," I smiled as I put her in the pedestrian lane and she nodded before fainting. 'The dark magic did a number on her,'
