Edward's

POV

The next morning, I gave out a picture of Caliana to high-ranking warriors who would help with the search for Caliana, they were trackers too. With the king's seal, we shall be allowed in all the packs and search for Caliana. I gave them clear instructions to contact me if they hear of anything and not approach her for any reason. It might startle her and run away. Arya and I went to another while Marcus and Marcos went to another.

"Jacob is searching in the North Lycan pack, his search there is fast since it's his brother's pack, and can easily access files," She informed me. We have been searching in the Moon rise Lycan pack for hours now and Arya was tired and hungry, however, I didn't want to stop.

"Can we have some food now?" She asked an hour later again. I groaned and agreed, we went to an Asian restaurant, to have food. I didn't know how hungry I was until I started to eat and ask for more. The food was free as the Lycan princess is quite popular and just having her there was an honor.

"Those are the perks of going anywhere with me, people just give me stuff," She grinned. We went to every border in the Moonrise Lycan pack and checked their records of new members but none said a Caliana or Tristin. Night came by more quickly than I wanted and we went back, unfortunately, my brothers didn't have any luck either. The trackers stayed in the packs to search. I dropped Arya at home and drove to the cabin. I found Queen Anaiah preparing dinner. We ate silently, her aura consoling me and my thoughts trailed to Caliana and how much I missed her.

I went outside after dinner, the moon was full and I watched it, begging to reconnect me with my mate. I felt Queen Anaiah's presence and she asked me what was wrong.

"My mate ran away from me and it hurts... so much," I admitted. I didn't know what got me talking about Caliana to her and the mistakes I made but opening up felt good. "Anything from her yet?"

"No, but I will replace her," I was confident about that.

I continued searching for my mate the next day and after. I was getting frantic now. Was she hiding from me?

'Of course, she is. Her friends probably told her that we went to her pack, growled Ward.

Anaiah and I developed a habit in the few days we stayed together. I made breakfast for us before heading out and she made dinner that we ate together.

We had finished eating dinner when we heard a ruckus outside and before we could fathom anything, smoke filled the room.

"We are under attack,"

"I can teleport us out of here," She coughed. I grabbed a wet towel and dipped it in water before giving it to her. She grabbed my arm firmly and looked into my eyes "I have powers, I can teleport us out of here,"

"I think you've inhaled too much smoke," I joked and she looked affronted that I didn't believe she could get us out of there. She tried to open a portal but it was futile. "Someone is blocking my power with dark magic," She said.

"f**k it, I'm breaking that door down, and stay close to me, Anaiah," I did just that and as soon as we stepped foot outside, rogues pounced on us. I shifted into my form immediately when I saw they were too much. Anaiah was a good fighter but she didn't look too well, indeed, someone was disarraying with dark magic as she kept holding her head every minute, and she couldn't stand straight.
