The Lycan’s Rejected Mate -
Chapter 243
Caliana's
POV
I have been staying here for three days now. Edward was true to his word of not letting me leave. Vince and Evelyn left to their dismay, leaving me here with Ellis. He was most delighted to spend more time with Love.
Edward was still pursuing me and sending me flowers every day but nothing he did impress me or warmed my heart, I wasn't ready to be with him all this was still fresh in my heart and I kept feeling like I needed to do something important, however, I didn't know what but I knew I'd feel better once I did.
The door opened and Edward walked in with a breakfast tray in his hands.
"Good morning," He greeted cheerily but I didn't smile back at him.
"Hungry?" He asked, putting the food on the glass coffee table. He made the breakfast himself, I would know the shape of those pancakes anywhere. I was starving since I didn't go down for breakfast and ate early last night so I sat on the couch and slowly ate my food under his watchful gaze.
I ate half of the food on the plate before I was filled and got my phone to text Alpha Blanco, he was asking how I was doing and where we were. "Aren't you leaving?" I asked. He sighed and checked his clock" No, I have time before going to work,"
"Whatever," I stood up and left the room, going to the garden. It was more beautiful than I remembered, large flowers of different colors were blossoming, and the gardeners did a good job with them as they were neatly in beds and the ponds had different fish in them. More white benches were added in the garden and they made lovely shiny pathways as I wanted. It was elegant and outstanding. I sat in the garden for hours, in front of the lagoon but soon, was lost in my thoughts. I didn't bring anything for the baby, nor was any room prepared for it here.
"I made the garden just like you planned," Edward's voice jolted me. I didn't turn around but my heart picked up.
"I like it,"
I said, my voice emotionless.
"It doesn't sound like you are," I stood up and looked at him, perplexed. Tears burned my eyes. He was taken aback by this and I saw him swallow.
"Don't act like things are great between us just because I'm staying here, Edward, you f****d up... royally! From the beginning, you had issues with me and made it so hard for me but this hurt me more for some reason," tears were streaming down my face and I didn't wipe them away. He took a step forward, maybe wanting to touch me but stopped when I shouted.
"No! You don't get to f*****g touch me, keep those hands off me!" I cried. It may sound trivial to others, I know it wasn't his fault but I didn't deserve it, he should have immediately known it wasn't me.
"You know what's worse?" I sniffed and wiped my tears now. He didn't utter a word and his head hung low, "If situations were reversed, within a minute, I would have known the truth and killed the intruder within that very minute,"
"I'm speechless at that but I'm sorry and want to do better by you because, Caliana, you're mine, you were made for me as I was for you," His voice trembled and tears filled his eyes as well, but he had no right to be hurt. My head was pounding now and I touched it, a whimper leaving my lips. He was worried. I could tell by the way he examined me but my glare told him not to ask or approach. I turned to leave but stopped.
"And you don't get hurt, you're not the one who was cheated on, and embarrassed by their mate... It's my cue," My voice was hostile and left him standing there, dumbstruck. The servants I met along the way knew better than to ask why I was crying. They only bowed and went their way.

Lena told me that Candace is still in the dungeons so I went there. The guards there bowed and let me in. Candace was behind bars, in a dirty room that reeked of blood, and sweat. She looked up at me with a tear-filled gaze and gasped. Candace didn't look so confident or as beautiful. She was dirty and wore rags that had blood. She had been tortured for a long time.
"You don't look too well in here," I sighed, keeping my distance from her. The guards were hovering around to make sure I was safe.
"Came here to gloat?" She croaked, staring at my belly which I caressed.
"I came here to kill you," I said casually, she only rolled my eyes. I was furious with this woman, she f*****g ordered a man to kill me.
"You can't do that, my uncle and aunty are powerful in this pack," She let out a pathetic growl. Indeed, her family held some power in the pack because of her late father's status as a war general but even that would not save her after what she did. "Only your father was and are you sure that's enough to save you, how long have you been here... over five months?!"
"I'm a pack member and it's against the rules, besides, no matter how upset he is with me, Alpha won't let you do that," She stood up, feigning confidence and wiping her tears. My gaze roamed over her with pity.
"No, sweetheart, I don't see any Alpha here except me. I am an Alpha in my own right and can kill you because of the dark magic in your veins and crimes committed against me," I said, advancing toward her while she backed away but the room was small. She truly was terrified now.
"You've been nothing but discourteous to me since I arrived, heck you tried to kill me in the first week, used dark magic, recently attempted murder on me, and separated me from my family, that's unforgivable," I said coldly. "And f*****g my mate, sleeping in my bed!" I slapped her hard across the face and blood splattered from her mouth. My chest was heaving in anger, my eyes blazing. Candace was sobbing, and shaking like a leaf. I grabbed her throat and tightened it. She whimpered. "If I let you leave now, you'll come back and do something even worse,"
"No, I won't, I promise, Luna," She cried. I pushed her against the wall and she collided with the floor with a satisfying sound. Her blood was dropping, I noticed her inner Lycan wasn't healing her because some wounds on her body were old. She charged against me but I kicked her back and the guard quickly intercepted her before she could lunge at me again. He restrained her arms and I gripped her neck, not caring that my claws were in her skin. Candace's heart was pulsating and fear of death enveloped her, it was satisfying to watch.
"Your Lycan abandoned you, didn't she?"
"Please, don't," She begged. I followed her imploring gaze over my shoulders. She was begging Edward to stop this but the Alpha was expressionless, his eyes harder than I'd ever seen before.
"Goodbye, Candace. Hope you rot in hell,"
I plunged my hand into her chest and a long scream echoed through the room as I tore her heart out.
The guard let the lifeless body fall to the ground and I glared at the heart in my hand before throwing it away. The guard gave me a cloth to clean my hands with.
"Ma'am we'll dispose of the body,"
"Take it her aunt, and tell her if she tries anything, she'll end up just like her niece"
Candace's aunt was well known to have a shitty mouth and had some connections with immoral people in that casino of hers. The guard nodded and I turned to leave. The Gamma bowed to me and I nodded but didn't acknowledge Edward.
I inhaled the fresh air and shut my eyes, don't cry, don't cry but a few tears escaped, f**k, since when do I cry over such trifling things?
'It's not petty, you killed someone, Cali, Liana said softly. I feel hands around me and I turned around to face him
"What? Angry that I killed your lover?" I stared at him down but his dark gray eyes were warm and he hugged me. I wanted to push him away but I surrendered to his comforting touch. My fingers were slightly shaking as I wrapped my arms around him. We stayed in an embrace for a long time. He pulled away and caressed my face gently
"Are you alright?"
I wanted to answer when a contraction hit me. I felt pain and almost dropped to my knees.
"Caliana, what's wrong,"
"I think she's about to have a baby," Gamma Decan smiled. I nodded just as my water broke. The Alpha jerked and widened his eyes.
He rushed me to the hospital while panicking, and I was glad Decan was there to calm him.
"You've done this before, man,"
"I know but no one gets used to it," Edward growled as he laid me on the bed.
The midwifery and doctor entered the room. I knew I was in safe hands but I didn't want Edward to leave me, I was scared, knowing how Alpha Lycan pups are a huge risk when delivered by werewolves but I could do it, I was strong with Alpha blood running in my veins. I looked up at Edward, he held my hand tightly and I let him.
"I'll stay," He told the doctor who nodded with a smile on his lips. "Let's begin," The midwife announced.
