Riley

For the first time in over three years, I slept peacefully. I didn't wake up in the middle of the night to gunshots, threats, or a beating. I was safe, In my mate's home.

I was running away from Labrone a few nights ago when I came across this pack. I knew exactly which pack this was; everyone did but I ran in here anyway or else, Labrone's gang members would have found me and taken him back to him. I couldn't go back, Labrone didn't care about this child, all he cared about was having an heir to succeed him in all his dirty deals and I refuse to bring a child into this world for that business.

'He will not stop looking until he replaces you,' My lycan sighed, she was tired as I was of all the s**t we've been through and was only happy to replace her mate. 'We'll hide, and if Garret rejects us, we'll go far from here and start anew,' I told her and she whimpered at the thought of our mate renouncing us. 'he won't reject us!'

'We are having another man's pup. No one will blame him if he does and did you see how hurt he was when he realized I was pregnant,'

His reaction almost brought me to tears but who can blame him?

I slowly opened my eyes and they adjusted to the huge room. I inhaled the intoxicating scent before rolling out of bed. I went to the bathroom and peed, washed my face, and brushed my teeth with a spare toothbrush I found before going downstairs. The house was lovely, I tried searching for Garret but he was nowhere in sight.

'Note,' My lycan said. I went to the counter, and a smile made its way to my lips at what I found. Delicious healthy breakfast and a note that said; he will be away for a couple of days but I should stay here and someone will be bringing me my meals every day. I sat on the stool and slowly ate my breakfast but I didn't have enough appetite to finish the food. For more free novels, visit Narugi.com

I sat in the living room. Time ticked by slowly and I allowed myself to fall asleep and only woke up when the doorbell rang. My heart raced in my chest, only thinking about the worst.

'Relax, he said in his note that someone will be bringing food, right?'

'Oh, yes.

I slowly opened the door and a young man smiled at me.

"Hello, Miss," he said.

"Hi," I took the bags of food from him.

"Thanks," I said.

"You're welcome, I'll be back tomorrow again," he said and I nodded.

I locked the door and took the food to the kitchen, it was so much. Again, like breakfast, I didn't eat much.

Days went by, and Garret was not back. I often found myself reading or doing some exercise. I'm only three months along so a doctor recommended some exercises to me a while back.

I had only finished reading an interesting book when the doorbell rang. I checked the clock, it was late at night, who could it be?

I slowly went to the door and opened it slightly to see who it was and instant relief filled me to see Garret. My heart was racing in my chest and I'm sure he could hear it. My inner lycan howled in ecstasy at the sight of the man she's been pining over for days. "Hi," he whispered.

"Hey," I whispered back. We stared into each other's eyes for a long time before there was a noise.

"I need sleep, will you two stare at each other all night long?"

A tall, good-looking man pushed Garret aside and smiled at me.

"Hello, beautiful," he greeted. I completely opened the door and he entered. The man in front of me was as tall and handsome as my mate.

"You're Riley," I nodded, a little intimidated by his alpha aura.

"I'm Marcus, Garret's cousin." Marcus extended his hand to me and I shook it.

"Well, I'm going to bed now folks, I'm beat," Marcus went upstairs and I was left with Garret, he looked at me intently and then, at my stomach. I was wearing one of his shirts and it was big so my stomach couldn't be seen but he still made me feel conscious. "How are you?" he asked softly.

"Good, and you?"

"Okay," He went past me to the kitchen and I didn't know what to do, whether to follow or not so I just stood there. Garret and I needed to talk so that I know my next move.

He was drinking something when I entered the kitchen. I sat in front of him.

"Garret, I think we should talk," I started.

"I killed them except one," he suddenly said and I knew exactly who he killed, Lebrone's mob.

"Where is he?" I breathed, a shiver going down my spine.

"He's in the dungeons. I didn't kill him because he's you know, the father of the baby," he exhaled and my hand flew to my stomach. I didn't care whether Lebrone lived or died, he was an evil selfish bastard who deserved the worst fate possible. "I don't care about him," I said and he looked into my eyes, searching.

"He will die tomorrow then,"

"I want him to know that I'm the reason for his death," I said and he flashed me a small smile of satisfaction.

"He surely will,"

I smiled appreciatively.

"Thank you for everything," I said. " Garret, I'll leave tomorrow and -"

"Don't," he interrupted, his hands touching mine and like before, the pleasant tingles erupted on my skin. He smiled at me and interlocked our fingers.

"I don't want to reject you. I want to love you and take care of you," he said vehemently.

"I have a baby, another man's child," I whispered.

"I want to love that baby too, if I love you, I'll love everything that comes with you, no exception," My eyes welled with tears at his words. Garret stood up and came to my side. He cupped my cheeks and kissed my forehead. "Will you accept me as your mate?" he asked gently.

"Yes, yes," I cried and he lifted me in his strong arms, and bent down to kiss me. The kiss was slow and passionate. It was burning me softly and I felt so much pleasure. He pulled away from me and put his forehead over mine. We closed our eyes as our scents surrounded us, relishing this moment and I couldn't wait to see what life had in store for us.
