Chapter 27 Luna's Rival

Luna left early the next morning to explore the new packs hotspots butmore to go shop for the dinner that they were invited at the end of theweek. She took her uncle's jeep and her new credit card and set off.Luna couldn't help but think of Luca. She didn’t even know whether heliked her, hell she didn’t even know whether he had a girlfriend. Shewas way too proud to ask Soccorah about that. Yet she seemed to misshim more than she missed Soccorah who was her best friend.

All she had to remember Luca by were some stolen intense glances, afew stares and accidental touches.

She needed to shake it off. If she were to even attempt to get thisprince to fall for her then she would have to try to get luca out of herhead but it was so hard with him invading her dreams every time sheshut her eyes and whenever she drifted. She could see his beautifulface, his eyes, his physique. “Luna gets a hold of yourself.” She shoutedat herself. “Damn” She came up to a big mall so she parked in the lotand made her way inside.

As Luna walked up to one of the stores, she realized that there weresome people staring at her. She was used to it by now with her whitehair and all. She had recently come to realize that people stared notbecause she was strange but because she was so beautiful. She thoughtto herself “Let's hope that beauty is enough to entice the Lycan prince.It sure as hell wasn't enough to get me Luca.” She walked into the storeand immediately fell in love with a beautiful mermaid dress which stoodin the middle of the store. The dress was breathtaking. It was an ivoryplunging neck dress covered with rhinestones. She saw a perfect pair ofrhinestone 6-inch heels to match and asked to try it on. The storeattendant was happy to help and when Luna stepped out the attendantcouldn't believe her eyes. She looked like a goddess even withoutaccessories. “How do I look? Do you think this is ok for a dinner? I wastold that I should dress formal like a ball so I thought” Before she couldfinish the young attendant replied “Perfect” with a shriek of approval. “Ican tell you where to get the perfect accessories to match. You must befrom the new beta house. Everyone is talking about you. The Lycanprince has been summoned home to choose a mate a little earlier thanpreviously planned so they're throwing a dinner, more like a ball. All theeligible girls are invited. Makes it easier since two packs are now one.”She told Luna. “So, I've been told. Will you be attending this ball?” “Ohno I've already found my mate we were married last full moon. Butsince you have to attend you should look out for Nina. The Alphasright hand's daughter well adopted daughter. He found her as a babyabandoned during a rogue attack. He raised her as his own as he andhis mate have no children of their own. She is very strong and talented.She's a beauty too. But her attitude sucks. She thinks that the princebelongs to her as they have been fucking buddies since he came ofage.”

“Well thank you for the warning and the advice. I will keep it in mind.”With that she left. Luna went to put the outfit in the car and came to asmall shop next to the mall and out of curiosity went inside. There wasan old woman sitting behind the counter. The shop was full of old bookon Lycanthropy and shifting. Werewolf stuff. When the woman saw her,she seemed happy, surprised and afraid. “When the goddess replaces hermate then the great enemy shall be defeated.” She uttered. Hegranddaughter came up to the counter and said “Good morning, can Ihelp you?” “Well, I was just looking around. I just moved here so Ithought I'd familiarize myself with the neighborhood. The old ladystared at Luna and suddenly excused herself and left. “My grandma hasvisions and when she gets them, she reports to the Lycan King and hedecides whether it is important to pay attention to them or not.” Shelaughed. “Oh ok. I'm still getting used to this world. I grew up in thehuman world, my parents were killed and my adopted parents raisedme. My uncle just recently found me and helped me through mytransition when I started to shift and I'm learning more about our life aswe go along.” Just then Nina walked into the store and asked the oldlady's daughter whether she was going to the ball. She didn't even payattention to Luna. She just jumped in and started talking. Luna excusedherself and left. While she was walking away, she heard Nina ask thegirl who she was.

Luna had thought that everyone was ok since her interactions but Ninawas not nice at all. “I guess you get one of those everywhere you go.Nina got into her Ferrari and followed Luna around town and finallyhome. Her jaw dropped when she saw where Luna lived. She wasfurious. She couldn't believe that Luna was going to be hercompetition. She knew luca's type and she knew that he would wanther. Nina went inside her house and went to her wardrobe to look foroutfits. She had to be breathtaking. She needed to standout. sheneeded to outshine this new girl. Damn that girl.

Luna went home to tell Soccorah about her day. She spent whatseemed to be the latter part of the afternoon on the phone. She toldher about the people and the pack members and a stuck-up girl thatshe met in one of the stores. She really missed her friend. She askedabout luca and Soccorah told her that he was ok but he had to leave forurgent pack business. She wanted to ask whether Luca had asked abouther and where exactly his pack was but she changed her mind. Shedidn't want Soccorah to think that she was interested in Luca when shehad to be working on getting some other wolf attracted to her.

She bade her goodbyes to Soccorah and went to sleep. That night sheremembered what the old lady had said in the book store and dreamedagain. This time she dreamed about herself and Luca going theirseparate ways again and a voice from the tree saying “When thegoddess replaces her mate then the great enemy shall be defeated.” Sheawoke with a shock. This was familiar to her.
