The Lycan's Soul Mate -
Chapter 35 Alone Once More
Luna had been resting all day as she was given a sedative. She hadslept all night and when she awoke the following day, she had no ideawhat terrible news awaited her. She got up feeling much better almostback to her old self. She headed to the bathroom only to realize thatshe was not at her house. She had clothes here as she stared at theopened duffel bag beside her bed. She remembered that she was stillat Luca's house.
Though she was happy to be there she quickly went to shower andstarted to pack her bag. She took the bag and headed downstairs to ohome. She needed to be at home since she was feeling so much better. She couldn't have those people thinking that she was weak or anopportunist. She had to leave Luca's house. As she headed to the frontdoor, she had to pass by the dining room and was stopped in her trackswhen a familiar voice called out to her.
“Luna, leaving so soon?” she turned to see her friend Soccorah headingtoward her. “What's the rush at least have breakfast with us.” Luna wasat a loss for words and dropped the duffel bag and ran up to her friendand scooped her up with a big hug. “Soccorah, what are you doinghere?” she said emotion. “Can't a girl miss her best friend. Geeze.”They went into the dining room to join the others at breakfast. She wasso happy to see Soccorah that she went through breakfast not noticingthat her uncle's seat was empty and the gloomy looks on the otherspresent’s faces when they looked at her. After breakfast Luca's fathercalled her into his study and broke the sad news to her. Luna felt likeher whole world had been shattered once more. “Is this ever going toend? Am I ever going to be granted a break? Every time I get even asemblance of normalcy, then something like this happens. What have Idone to deserve this?” She cried out. Soccorah came in and hugged herallowing her to soak up her blouse in tears.
“I asked Soccorah to come as Luca told me how close you two are. Youwill need your friends to get through this. Rest assured that his deathwas not in vain and it will not go unpunished. Your uncle entrusted youto meso you will be moved to a room here at the soonest for yoursafety.” Luca's father told her. “OK, but I need to get my stuff from thehouse.” She replied.
He allowed her to go home to get her stuff with Soccorah ad someguards. She had not seen Luca anywhere. She wondered if he were okand couldn't help but ask of him. “Luca is still weak and is resting in hisroom. He is recovering. No need to worry about him.” Replied theprince. Satisfied with this response she left for her house. She went intoher room and started packing her stuff. Soccorah helped her. When shewas done, she went into her uncle's room ad asked to be alone.
She entered the room and felt the warmth of the love that her unclehad for her. Though it was brief she was thankful to have met him andhave him share in her life. He was always a breath of fresh air for her.He was always there when she needed a shoulder to cry on or toremind her of where she came from. How could he be taken from herso soon. It was hard for her to understand. She remembered feeling thisway when her father was killed. She was so young and yet sheremembered the heart wrenching pain and the sleepless nights.
Her so called mother had been there for her and come to think of it,Luna never paid attention to it but she never saw her witch of a falsemother shed a tear over her father. How could she have trusted thiswoman. She was so lonely that she allowed this woman to fool her. Shehad kept her from her uncle and now she was dead because of her. Shewalked over to her uncle's bed where she had laid next to him whenshe was lonely and missing her father. He had been her comfort. Hewas everything to her and now he was gone.
She looked over to his trophy collection and remembered when theyfirst met at her college. He had helped her when she discovered thatshe was a werewolf. He helped her discover that she was more than justa werewolf. That she was special. He was so proud of her. Proud thatshe had exceeded his expectations of her. He was her family. He wasstrong, He was wise and he loved her. Everything that he had done inhis entire life had been for her, even when he didn't know whether hewould ever see her again.
She cried her heart out in the room and pulled herself together. Therewas more at stake. Like getting revenge. Her uncle didn't have to die.She was robbed of a future with him. Lydia would die. She would diethat was for sure. She would pay for what she had done to her andwhat she wanted to do to the packs. Luna's eyes glowed with fire inthem yet she was calm. She managed to be angry and control herpowers.
She opened her palm and a fire ball suspended over it then closed itand it disappeared. She lay down on her uncle's bed and took in hisscent one last time before leaving. She knew that he would not wanther to wallow. He would want her to be happy. She knew that shecouldn't be truly happy until Lydia was dead. She made up her mind tonot be weak and so she took a deep breath and left with Soccorah forthe palace.
