Chapter 34 Lucian falls In battle

The following morning Luca awoke feeling stronger than he did the daybefore. He was eager to help. As he had caught the scent, it hadweighed on his mind and invaded his dreams. This person had plantedNina in their pack and tried to kill him. All because they needed theirsacred plant; something that he had not known to exist until yesterday.He was full of anger and just wanted to rip someone to shreds for whathad been done to him. He had been used as a pawn. Bewitched byNina causing Luna to possibly think of him as a two-timing regularteenage boy.

The look on her face after she saw him kissing Nina had haunted himand he could not chase after her to tell her that he had no control overit. He wanted to break free. The thought of her all over him repulsedhim now more than ever. How could he have not seen through her.Maybe things would have been different. Maybe if he had swallowedhis pride and told Luna how he felt from the moment he saw her atschool then this could have been avoided. He could have helped herreplace herself.

He still had a bit of pain in his stomach and was not as strong nor asfast but he was good to follow the scent. He could not allow it to beerased. He needed to track this person and maybe replace the coven. Hegot dressed and went downstairs to grab a bite and found his father,Lucian and two warriors. Luca sat at the table and greeted everyone.“Good morning, welcome back to the land of the living.” They replied,all more than happy to have him back. “How are you feeling today?”Lucian asked. “I'm feeling so much better. Not as strong but strongenough to follow the scent. How is Luna doing anyway.” He asked all inone breath. He was so concerned about Luna. He just hoped that shewas going to be ok. She had tried to help him. In fact, she is the reasonthat he was alive. “Luna is getting stronger but we gave her somethingto allow her to sleep since she is so stubborn and refuses to rest. Shejust worries about everyone other than herself. Just like her mother.” Hesmiled. Lucian had been told that Luca had chosen Luna as his mate butwas going about it slowly. Lucian was impressed by him and could nothave asked for a better partner for his niece. He could now rest assuredthat she would be happy and well protected in this pack if anythingwere to happen to him. He had passed all of his inheritance over toLuna in his will. She meant everything to him.

They all finished up their breakfast and set off into the forest with Lucain the lead. Lucian was surprised to see how fast Luca was even thoughhe had claimed to not be fully recovered. It was closer to the full moonand Lucian was not as yet able to transform as he was not Lycan but hewas strong. They moved deeper and deeper into the woods. Heremembered when he had found the old abandoned hut in the woodsnear Attica with evidence that was tied to his brother and his wife'sdeath.

He was happy that this Nina girl was out of the picture. Hopefully thisthreat would be eradicated once and for all. They soon came to the endof the wooded forest and saw a cabin. Lucian and Luca went incautiously. They're sat Lydia at a table in the kitchen. Lucian wassurprised to see Lydia seated there. So was Luca as he'd recognizedLuna's mother at first sight. Her scent was different though.

“Luca, what are you doing here? And Lucian?” she asked pretending tobe surprised. “Well, I hate to say that I am surprised. I see you haverecovered quite quickly. SOOO disappointed.” She laughed. “How is myniece doing? Is she dead yet? You Know, this is really not what I wanted.Don't try to come any closer because I have a protection spell. If u wantto stay alive that is. I had to kill my sister and her nosy husband had toget in the way when I tried to poison that old bat of an Alpha. Uselessall of them. I always admired you though, Lucian. You would have madea great alpha. I never intended on hurting Luna. I just needed her asleverage. But she turned on me. I gave up a life with my own child onlyto be betrayed by my niece whom I had raised as my own. She wasuseless, no powers, nothing. Just when her gifts emerged when I couldhave used her to fulfil my goals You showed up and ruined everything.”She muttered with scorn.

Your family has been nothing but a thorn in my ass for as long as I canremember. Now it's time to pay. You little prince, an eye for an eye.Your father killed my child and now I will have the pleasure of riddinghim of his. It will destroy him. Yes, that's right, Nina was my daughter.But no matter, her sacrifice was not in vain. You and Luna areweakened, we have the part of the plant that we needed to fortify ourspell and as an added bonus I will have my revenge.”

Luca could not move. Lydia uttered something and Luca was frozen, hewas paralyzed. She then charged toward him with a dagger and in a fitLucian jumped in front of him and was stabbed instead. Just then Lucagrowled and his father and the warriors charged in. Lydia got in themiddle of a circle and vanished. Luca was holding Lucian in his arms. Hehad been stabbed by a silver dagger. It is fatal to werewolves. “Takecare of Luna. I entrust her to you. Tell her what happened and keep hersafe. Tell her that her mother was nothing like Lydia. Tell her that I loveher and that we will meet again in the next life. Continue on your questand defeat this evil.” With that he took his last breath.

The warriors ran outside and hunted the environs but Lydia was gone.They carried Lucian’s body back to the Packhouse and head the eldersprepare his body for burial. Luca was given a sedative and sent to restwhile his father went to replace Luna to break the news to her. First, heSummoned Soccorah as Luca had told him how close the two were. Shewould need a friend as she had just lost her last living relative.
